More than just a fancy name. TURNIGY nano-tech lithium polymer batteries are built with an LiCo nano-technology substrate complex greatly improving power transfer making the oxidation/reduction reaction more efficient, this helps electrons pass more freely from anode to cathode with less internal impedance.
In short, less voltage sag and a higher discharge rate than a similar density lithium polymer (non nano-tech) battery.
Unfortunately with other big brands, numbers, ratings and graphs can be fudged. Rest assured, TURNIGY nano-techs are the real deal, delivering unparalleled performance!
The nano-core technology in lithium ion batteries is the application of nanometer conductive additives.
1) The nanometer conductive additives form ultrastrong electron-conducting networks in the electrodes which can increase electronic conductivity. 2) These additives create a superstrong ability for imbibition in the carrier liquid to supply more ion channels. This improves the ability of ion transmission and ion diffusion. Through improving electronic conductivity and ion transmission, the impedance is reduced and the polarization of high rate discharge decreases greatly.
Advantages over traditional Lipo batteries: -Power density reaches 7.5 kw/kg. -Less Voltage sag during high rate discharge, giving more power under load. -Internal impedance can reach as low as 1.2mΩ compared to that of 3mΩ of a standard Lipoly. -Greater thermal control, pack usually doesnt exceed 60degC -Thickness swelling during heavy load doesnt exceed 5%, compared to 15% of a normal Lipoly during heavy load. -Higher capacity during heavy discharge. More than 90% at 100% C rate. -Fast charge capable, up to 15C on some batteries. -Longer Cycle Life, almost double that of standard lipoly technology.
HPI recommends using 2s lipo, 7.4 V. The controller does not support lipo 1s (3.7 V). only a few regulators, specially constructed, working at 3.7 volts. Taking the same battery 2s, to 7.4 volts, you should have no problems in fact, you may find better performance and not to stress the batteries, because they support very high loads.
This is mainly used in 1/12 and 1/10 onroad pan cars. As you run low voltages in one-cell racing, the high discharge is more than welcome. The cell size is a perfect fit, good work HobbyKing!
PS: In case you're wondering, you need a voltage booster or a separate LiFe power pack for powering the reception and servo, I tried 'Vol-Booster' and it works great (although a 6V booster will be even better!).
364 amps linear - 728 amps peak WOW!!!
Let's say that if an ESC seeks power, this battery does not hold back. The formula for power is: P = V * I
Especially if you have space, as in 1:12 pan-car, the only way to increase performance while maintaining a fixed voltage (anke so the size of the battery) is to increase the amps, in the discharge supplied by the battery.
364 A constant , 728 A peak ? i think the PEAK is no more than 0,5 second . how the hell can 4mm banana transfer 364A , my 8 mm gold conectors are only to 170 ampere :D
Thanks Jim. All I was ever exposed to was 2s only for 1-10th scale organized racing. With 1s voltage, current levels rise to dizzying hieghts. The very high c count makes sense.
The theoretical C-value tells about the characteristics of the cell. What that means is that 65C cell is just more punchy that 40C cell. Nothing more.
For example in 1/12th scale it's really important, because of low voltage level.
Forgot to mention that the C-value is important because the higher the value the less voltage drop during acceleration. That's the secret. Everybody knows that 4mm connectors won't deliver 300 amps :)
4mm connectors will carrying 300 amps but only in bursts. Also, low gauge wire can hold a little higher current if it's an AC signal rather than a DC signal. With brushless motors and such, the batteries are used in fast pulses of current which keeps them cool and allows higher current to pass for a short period of time before anything heats up too much.
I bought this for my 7 cylinder radial engine glow system. It will be connected to the microsense glow driver. The size, capacity, discharge rate and weight is just perfect for this kind of application. It will feed 7 OS F glow plugs. It can easily be used for 9 cylinder as well.
The fit and finish is very nice. It comes with the thick wires as shown on the photo above. This pack is just what I have been looking for months..
Its a very pretty and robust looking package. It looks even better in person. I hope it performs as it looks.
Great deal from HK.

All I can say is WOW!
Nano-tech found a new home. LOL!
The internal resistance on these cell are incredibly low!
Beats batteries that cost three times as much.
Don't know how long they will last but if they last for two months it
will be a huge savings.
I would recommend buying these batteries...great product Turnigy!

No other battery can compare to this battery for the value...I bought 3 of this model and all 3 work perfect and all had low internal resistance even lower than a buddies $80 1cell battery....Made him a believer.
