Turnigy nano-tech 5300mah 2S2P 50~100C Hardcase Lipo Pack

Turnigy nano-tech 5300mah 2S2P 50~100C Hardcase Lipo Pack

More than just a fancy name. TURNIGY nano-tech lithium polymer batteries are built with an LiCo  nano-technology substrate complex greatly improving power transfer making the oxidation/reduction reaction more efficient, this helps electrons pass more freely from anode to cathode with less internal impedance.

In short, less voltage sag and a higher discharge rate than a similar density lithium polymer (non nano-tech) battery.

Unfortunately with other big brands, numbers, ratings and graphs can be fudged. Rest assured, TURNIGY nano-techs are the real deal, delivering unparalleled performance!

The nano-core technology in lithium ion batteries is the application of nanometer conductive additives.

1) The nanometer conductive additives form ultrastrong electron-conducting networks in the electrodes which can increase electronic conductivity.
2) These additives create a superstrong ability for imbibition in the carrier liquid to supply more ion channels. This improves the ability of ion transmission and ion diffusion.
Through improving electronic conductivity and ion transmission, the impedance is reduced and the polarization of high rate discharge decreases greatly.

Advantages over traditional Lipo batteries:
-Power density reaches 7.5 kw/kg.
-Less Voltage sag during high rate discharge, giving more power under load.
-Internal impedance can reach as low as 1.2mΩ compared to that of 3mΩ of a standard Lipoly.
-Greater thermal control, pack usually doesnt exceed 60degC
-Thickness swelling during heavy load doesnt exceed 5%, compared to 15% of a normal Lipoly during heavy load.
-Higher capacity during heavy discharge. More than 90% at 100% C rate.
-Fast charge capable, up to 15C on some batteries.
-Longer Cycle Life, almost double that of standard lipoly technology.

Will this battery for a team associated 2wd sc10 without modification ?
 tom 1 points
There's no reasn why not. This nano tech measures in at 13.5cm length and 4.5cm width. I have two of these. They easily fit in my 2wd slash battery tray and they fit the stampede's battery tray with little room to spare. The performance though is great. I get over an hour and half on the vxl 3s system. great bashable batteries. They're also great at coping in wet conditions (mine have been fully submerged). These are good value for money. I don't know why I haven't bought more yet. Hope this helps.

I have a pair of these. Both are the same age. 1 got used down to my ESC's LVC * 3.4V and is ever so slightly puffed. :(
 david 12 points
That's weird I always run down to the lvc with this battery and I haven't had any problems. The lvc on my esc is 3.2v
 tom 1 points
The lvc on these packs is 3.2v per cell. I wouldn't run any lower than that though. It could cause irrevesable damage to the cells. Remember to always come back here the day you receive your lipos and enter the warranty codes from each pack. Thst way if your lipo does do something stupid, you're covered.

I wish they made a JR plug for this would like to run it as a receiver bat to run that and hv servos
 Tagir 16 points
as I understood, you want to use it in your transmitter? NEVER use batteries with over than 2c dischardge rate because it's can brake. Use ONLY batt fot transmitters!
 kevin 1 points
Ya you need a recever battery or you will have problems
 tom 1 points
you can install a reciever plug if you wish. the discharge rating is only rated for motors. All batteries continusly dicharge wether connected or not. also digital servos can handle lipo much better than the older analogue servo's.

I'm new, can me anybody explain difference between 2s 2s1p 2s2p 2s3p Lipo's? Thanks.
 Petr 54 points
I think that 2s3p means 2 serial, 3 paralel = two groups by three cell = 6 cell in total. But if 2s1p is better than 2s3p... I don't know.
 Mariuswl 1 points
the 2s means it is two cells, putting it at 7,4 Volt. The size of the battery both physical and in storage (mAH) is adjusted by how many packages there are in parallel. If you look at the physical measurements and weight you'll see a big differance on 1p, 2p, 3p and so on.
 david 12 points
each lipo cell is 3.7 v and the s means series witch increases voltage so for 2s1p its 3.7 3.7=7.4 the p means parallel that increases the capacity so a 1s2p battery with 2000 mah cells would still have 3.7 volts but 4000 mah. parallel = capacity series = voltage hope this helps, thanks, david

K, really thinking about these in EDF Jets cause 6 of these without the 30g of wire is 1.59kg which is 3.5lbs AND have more capacity than regular 5ah batts. Am I missing something? Do these really have 5300mah of capacity and are lighter than regular 5ah packs? I know I would have to have some big amps to charge these within a reasonable time at 2s but it's doable no? Thx in advance for any input
 Bily 6 points
I use these in my nexx 8 car where some turnigies 5000mah do not fit without trimming. 6x 2S in a plane, what the hell are you flying ? a 1:1 B52 ?
 erh7771 292 points
lol...nah, 120mm fanned jets, 4500 - 7500 watts around 15 - 25lbs of thrust, 150-250mph straight pass's. To keep amps down go up in cell count, now days you can do 14s 120 (6500 watts) for 90usd esc, and 70usd in motor and fans. The thing that hasn't gone up in tech and down in price is batteries but these are different. They're relatively light and have more MAH than ones I've used in my go fast planes.
 icedog36 4 points
I run these in my 2wd & 4wd trucks. I've had no problems, great performance. They charge to a full 5300 mah. Overall a great battery for the price.
 John 23 points
This battery is lighter than my 5000 mah turnigy hardcase. I ran this battery in my b4.1 for an hour straight at the race track before my cutoff turned on. I would have to say it truly does have 5300mah. Lot's of power as well. I'm very happy with it.
 erh7771 292 points
Rob and John, when you guys recharge what has been your recharge rate and MAH put back into the packs? Thx, these are REALLY starting to look like great packs for EDFs too bad my pockets are tapped right now
 John 23 points
To be honest, I really don't know what the MAH I put back into my pack is. I have only ran it to the cutoff one time and I did not pay attention to that recharge. I do know that I charge my packs at 5.3 amps. My friend also races 1/10 2wd buggy with me and he tried my pack one night. He ended up buying two of them and he could not be happier. I like the nano tech's so much I just ordered a saddle pack for my Caster s10b 4wd buggy. You wont be disappointed.
 John 23 points
I forgot to mention, I've had my pack for 4 months and my friend has had his 2 for about 3 months. After being beat up at our track they still look and perform like new.
 mike 10 points
tons of power charge fast over and over and over and over and over and over and .....
 richard 1 points
you can charge these packs at up to 5c from what im told but i know for a fact that 2c is plenty of charge rate for these packs.
MX304  10 points - 12/23/2011

What's the highest C rating these have been successfully charged at?
 tazfam2 18 points
I would go at 5 amps the batteries will last longer
 Bily 6 points
as unsuccessfully would mean "take fire" I would rather not go over 2C and i would even prefer 1C to preserve longevity.
 icedog36 4 points
I've charged at 6 amps with no problem, no overheating. The nano technology helps with that. But it's always recommended to charge at a lower rate to prolong battery life.
 John 23 points
I charge mine at 5.3 amps. The battery came with a sticker that said you can charge it at 8 amps, but I would not risk that. One other thing to keep in mind is that I race my b4.1 with this battery and after 2 8 minute heat races and one 10 minute main it still does not need to be charged. I usually charge it before the race and when I get home.
 mike 10 points
i have consistantly charged mine at 5.5amps never had an issue
 Bryton 10 points
I've charged at 5 amps before but recommend going lower to prolong the life of the battery.
 Michael 7 points
I have succesfully charged thes at 2C but if i have enough time i always charge at 1C
 Jon 4 points
it says on the battery then they can be charged up to 8C!!! but my charger does not go that high i charge them at 8 amps "my charger max rate" with no problems and have had for about 6 months with out any problems
fabullet  1 points - 12/2/2011

what is the difference between a 2s or 3s if they have the same power ??
 JustinF 1 points
With Lipo batteries "2s" means two cells in Series, while "3s" means 3 cells in Series. Each cell is 3.7 Volts so a 2s battery will be 7.4 volts and a 3s will be 11.1 volts. Your speed controller/motor must be able to deal with the higher voltage of the 3s batteries.
 tazfam2 18 points
make sure that you esc will handles 3 s
 icedog36 4 points
2s is smaller and less powerful. As said above, make sure your system can handle the 3s.
 mike 10 points
2s = 7.4 Volts
3s = 11.1 Volts
4s = 14.8 Volts
 Tagir 16 points
In LiPo battery is 3.7 v per cell. In LiFe battery is 3.3 v per cell. In NiMh battery is 1.2 v per cell. So, if it "2s", You should 1 cell of type pack, x2. And, if it "3s", You should 1 cell of type pack, x3. e.t.c.
 Jon 4 points
the total voltage. every "S" is 3.7v so 2S would be 7.4v and 3S would be 11.1v ect. you have to see what your motor and esc is rated for and even if its rated maybe 3s could cause heat problems and the extra speed maybe unneeded or hard to control

can i use this in my eletrico starter for gas motors?
 christiano 76 points
no, starter works with 12v
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Dmitriy 2 points
Yes, just make sure Voltage its the same!!! mine using 4s - 14.8v
 discount 16 points
I think its designed for electric power RC car, because the case, dimension and the discharge rate meet all the requirements, I am not recommend this battery for your starter, too expensive.
 icedog36 4 points
It will work but you can get less expensive batteries to do the same job. You don't need the high discharge rate for a started.
 John 1 points
The turnigy batteries work great in my mugen starter box, I have a pair of the direct wire 5000 50c version connected in series, 14.8v is great for turning over a tight / new engine.
martinct  5 points - 7/6/2011

Two of these batteries should fit on a Hot bodies VE8 ??
 john 13 points
yeah if you stack one on top of the other it should fit in the battery tray
 icedog36 4 points
You'll have to stand them on edge next to one another.
 Bryton 10 points
If you stack them they fit.

I received this battery 1ea....with 5300mAh 30C 2ea
I feel,,
50C would be better than 30C or Turnigy 5200 30C in Touring race...
and would be similar with IP5600mAh 50C Battery..

10A Test result... (Cut off voltage is 3.2V/Cell) use Duratrax ICE
5300mAh 50C - 5290mAh discharge, average Voltage 7.6V
5300mAh 30C - 5280mAh discharge, average Voltage 7.56V
* New Turnigy 5200mAh 30C - 5270mAh 7.56V
* New IP 5600mAh 50C - 5250mAh 7.57V...oooops...

I saw these packs show up a few week back, with no stock, so when some stock came in I just 'had' to try a couple.

My packs showed up the same afternoon I was due to run in a night meet, so I had the chance to run them right away, first impressions when opening them was mixed, they are very well packed, and a stylish improvement on other HK packs, downsides are one sticker on one pack has a huge bubble under it (not that big a deal at all, just it makes it look cheap), secondly is the cases feel a little thin, and I suspect they are using the same case for all these sized packs, as you can push in the case sides a fair bit and not feel anything inside the 5300.

Now onto the performance, well first up right out of the box mine had perfect storage voltage and balance, so onto charging, and both charged up without a hitch on full balance mode, zero issues.

Then came time to have a first run, as a closer comparison I bought the 5300's because I have two IP 5000/50C packs, so I'm directly comparing these new packs to those, I ran the IP packs last meet, I know what they will do, the HK packs right off the start surprised me, they punch harder than my IP packs (around 45 cycles old), my onroad 10th scale TOP Photon felt a little faster everywhere with the new packs.

To be fair it is 5000 vs a 5300, but the extra power was there from a battery costing half what the IP cost

First off the battery looks great! The weight is 278g. Fits perfect in my SC10 The plug in the picture is NOT included. It has a lot more power then my old 30c packs and charges in half the time.

I brought ten of this Nanotech Hardcase pack for my club. All I can say for this baby is AWESOME, cut-off set to 2.8v and then charge them with 5C without breaking a sweat. I run 8.5T on my EP TC with those crazy turbo setup to the max, this pack just keep pumping the juice even after 8 minutes (we have 10 minutes main A). But yes you will need to break-in this pack for about 5 times to let the beast alive. Cheap and awesome !!

This is a great deal. My pack did come with the plug/wire set shown in the picture, and cells were balanced from the get go. I have been using mine in 10th scale SC truck and TC car for stock racing, so far so good.
