Easy Fly Glider EPO (PNP) (USA Warehouse)

Our Easy-Fly is a large (1.9mtr) RTF glider made from super strong EPO foam.
This model comes pre-built with motor, esc and servo's already installed. All you need to do is include your own receiver & battery to be ready to fly in 10 minutes.

The included and installed brushless motor and ESC provides plenty of power for steep climbs. The proven tail design and wing shape make this an easy glider to handle. The Easy-Fly also has a folding propeller to reduce drag as well as motor ventilation and an easy to access canopy hatch for quick battery changes.

is there a carbon rod in the wings?
 Maximilionalpha 1069 points
The wings are re-enforced with both, a hollow metal wing spar and a carbon rod, topped off with a plywood re-enforced strip beneath both wings.

Here is a video of how I replaced my wing servo with the HXT MG14's. If the link does not work, the lower quality video will also be available in the "videos" section. If anybody has a different method for wing servo replacement - would like to know about it too!

**To prevent the aluminum wing joiner tube from getting bent forward on fast landings, stretch an 8" long piece of clear packing tape (1.5" wide) across the top of the fuselage and onto the wings at the trailing edge of the wings. And 2 pieces under wings at the same place. If your joiner tube has gotten bent, you can use 2 screwdrivers inserted into the tube for leverage, place your thumbs near the center, and *gently* bend the tube straight.

What type of battery connectors does this plane come with?
 SoMoney 184 points
Hi Lisa, Mine came with standard deans connector. Here is my build thread: www.link

Can someone describe the wing construction? What type of spar is used? Any ideas what the airfoil is? Could someone post some pictures?
Thanks!
Mike
 F100CUFFLINK 886 points
it is all foam , with plug in wing aluminum spar . the airfoil is semisematrical(THIS IS NOT FOR HIGH SPEED FLYING BUT IS VERY RUGID.
 James 6 points
The spars are actually 8mm carbon fiber tubes, running about 60% of the way to the wing tips. They have an aluminum fitting glued into their root ends which is captured by the wing joiner system. The wing joiner is an 8" (200mm) aluminum tube running through the fuselage, that the spars slide into.

I have a bunch of 3S 2200mAh 30C would these fit or do I need to order new batteries?

Do you fly it with the stock setup if not what do you change?

The big fuse does it allow for a folding prop ?
 F100CUFFLINK 886 points
I SURE THE 2200 PACKS YOU HAVE WILL FIT there is not much differance fromm the 1800 to the 2200. you fly with what ever the motor needs for esc , if the ESC calls for 40amp than get a 40 but its always good to overkill get the next larger that what the motor calls for.
yes you can use the folding prop ,thats got nathing to do with the power system.

I am relatively new, Looking to buy my second glider (my first was a Wild Hawk From Harbor Freight). This will be my first plane with Ailerons. My question is, which would be better The Minimoa 2mtr R/C Glider http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewIt
em.asp?idProduct=14886
($113) or the Easy Fly Glider http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_
viewItem.asp?idProduct=17415
($77) Is the Minimoa worth the $40 extra cost?
 RC-Archer 27 points
I'd get the Easy Fly first and learn on that. The Minimoa is a better 2nd or third aileron plane.

In the Required field it says you need a 11.1v 2s... this is not right... its either a 7.4v 2s or a 11.1v 3s... just noticed the mistake
 tushev 52 points
"11.1V 1300mah ~ 1800mAh 20C 2S" is confusing but not wrong.
 aloulou 54 points
mannnnnn very good airplane wth a huge fuselage wonderful design avice u to try it :)
 slacks 3 points
your wrong tushev 2s means that its a two cell battery. And each cell has a normal cell voltage of 3.7v. which would make a 2 cell battery 7.4 volts and a 3 cell battery 11.1 volts. At the top right of this page is a link "Understanding LiPoly" it'll tell you all about LiPoly batteries
 Alex 4 points
you can use a 2s or a 3s.
 SoMoney 184 points
I cut the belly open a shoved in a 11.1V 2650 20C Pack for FPV use... Google "FPV Easyfly" for my build thread, its the 1st link.

The model arrived in perfect condition and it is true that it can be ready to fly within 15 minutes. I took a bit longer qw I replaced the y-connector for ailerons with two 6" inch extension and set the model up with flaps (flapperons). This allowed me to set landing mode and flaps with mixing so that it performs well. I also set a mix to couple throttle with elevator so that it does not climb nose up with power addition.

I used a Gold receiver and satellite (tucked onto the right rear air exit). The provided speed control has a heat sink and appears to be more than the 18 amp advertised. I read some reviews stating that the model has not enough rudder, this is not true. With the provided servos, I have jitter free control and lots of rudder throw as well (elevator to elevator). You need to flex the control surfaces a few times ans remove a bit of the white silicone and the surfaces all throw just fine that is what may have been burning out servos.

The elevator control rod has a z-bend into the servo horn- straighten the wire and add an e-z connector for much more positive control (I could sub-trim 20-25 before I would get movement on the elevator). Since I changed the elevator servo connector the elevator has positive control.

The model flies very well and can loop, roll and does get into thermals quite readily. All in all an excellent value!!

On May 4th, 2011, after putting my Multi***x E@$y Gl!der away, due to the setting sun, a flying buddy asked if I wanted to fly his plane. He said it was a "knock-off" of some other popular BNF sailplane, but as soon as I saw the EasyFly, I recognized it's heritage. My EZG is set-up with flaps, so that it is a 4 servo wing. I though that the EasyFly was not going to be as much fun, or capable as my plane. Boy, was I wrong!!! The EasyFly is exactly that. An "easy fly!" Within just a few circuits of the field, I had the plane trimmed for a perfectly flat, just-above-stall-speed cruise. As it was the very end of the daylight, most of the thermals had blown off, or were unworkable with my skills, but with as little as 30 seconds of throttled climb, I could slowly and gently circle the field for about 3 minutes. At this rate, I could expect up to 20 minutes of airtime with a "little" 1300 3S battery. Many people that had gathered for the night-fly commented at how "majestic and tranquil" it looked as it glided around the field. While my EZG has it's place, I'll be buying the EasyFly just as soon as I can.

Ordered this airplane from the US warehouse in order to get something flying quickly since my others were down. Decided on this since it looked like it might make for a good POV platform later. Shipping was very quick and received it in good condition. Note that this thing is huge, I cannot fit it into my car without taking the wings off which is not the easiest thing in the world. It requires screw driver and pinches a tube which deforms it and makes it hard to disassemble. After assembling it I found out that the ESC that it was shipped with was non-functional, while it is under warranty I have to pay for shipping back to China and wait for them to examine it, and then send another one from China which is a major negative. I ended up replacing the ESC myself to get it flying. I hope HK sets up a US returns center soon (My RMA address was in the US, but I was told by email to NOT send it to that address). It flies faster than I expected, and is pretty squirrelly compared to most R/C's I have flown. It definitely needs more ailerons if you're going to fly it on anything other than a calm day. Each flight there have been several times where I can barley arrest a roll with full control deflection (set up to 150pcnt of travel in my controller). Overall this will probably become an aircraft that I modify myself to make fly better. Its a good deal to get something flying,

It's not a rocket ship, nor is it a Warm/Hotliner. The stock motor will carry it up and aloft to a good height. From there you can shut down the motor and glide back down to earth. Once you have the CG correct the thing will glide forever. I give this one a 4 on the rating as there is room for improvement. I'll be beefing up the motor just a bit. Probably a '480' sided motor or slightly larger. This requires me to cut some of the nose away. The Elevator doesn't like to return to neutral, so that servo will be replaced. The hatch lock doesn't lock anymore. I'll be placing some magnets on there to hold it in place. All that being said, I'll look forward to fly this bird until it doesn't fly anymore. It's a great throw and go plane I keep in the back of my car. I have to friends I'll be training this summer and I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

First thing I had to do was throw away the ESC and fortunately I had a spare one laying around. The original one didnt work at all whatsoever and never would. The prop assembly must be balanced. My plane vibrated pretty severely until this was addressed. All but one of the servos functioned as expected.....marginally, but good enough to fly after replacing the elevator servo (It had the jitters real bad). But hey, its a HobbyKing el-cheapo that satisfies with a little bit of patience. The wings were fastened together when I built it and I have never taken them off. I have a lot of time on this bird and it thermals nicely. The power is adequate for climb but Im a power freak. I would like to find a folder for it and replace the motor with something more substantial in the spring (2012). If you like flying around for a long time on a single charge, this bird is for you. My duration is normally 18minutes on a 1300mah and I have stretched to 48 minutes riding thermals. Lots of fun on the cheap and compared to the PKZ Radian it turns on a dime thanks to ailerons......SWEET! The tard that designed the ugly stickers should be executed by chinese firing squad.
