It says UBEC but in the pic it shows SBEC, which is it? I need a UBEC and I really want to place my order as it takes awhile to get here from Hong Kong and I dont think the USA wearhouse has this one
I'm back to trying to get the ESC programmed. When I first powered up, it went through all the settings, but I wasn't ready to program yet! (computer locked up and I couldn't scroll down the manual) So, I let it go all the way through and then powered down. I powered back up and now, with the throttle at full I get a beep, beep, beep, then a quicker short sequence of three different notes. It never goes in to program mode. If I power up with the throttle at zero, I just get a continuous beep, beep, beep, etc. until I move the throttle to full. Then I get the previous listed beeps and silence. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi, try reset of throttle parimeter, plug esc in with transmitter at full throttle then lower throttle at lowest point this should rest throttle you should get a different beep. hope this fixes it for ya
Thanks guys. Somehow I managed to get it programmed but now I have another problem! I power everything up and can't get the motors to run. BUT as soon as I shut off the transmitter both motors start up at full power! Mind you, the transmitter is OFF! Any ideas on that?
Can anyone understand the manual for this? I'm new to all of this and need instructions in plain English. LOL I can't get anything but beeps from the ESC. No motor function at all. I've made sure the throttle is all the way down, solder joints are good, trims are correct. Still, no joy.
I figured it out, or stumbled across the answer through trial and error. The instructions are less than clear and leave a lot of room for improvement. Once I got the motor up and running, on the bench, I let it keep running at full throttle. Didn't take long for it to get really hot. Probably not the best decision on my part, but I was so excited to finally get it going that I didn't want to shut it down! LOL Hopefully, it'll run just fine after it cools off.
does anyone know what the green circle is that the wire is wrapped up around, and i want to get rid of it but scissors arent cutting it...lol. i figured id ask what its for before i take drastic measures
It's a ferrite ring to stop electic noise created by the ESC getting to the Rx and interferring with it. Don't get rid of it, it's a good thing to have.
Would anyone recommend this over the turnigy 85A esc as far quality is concerned? I know some have had problems with the turnigy esc whereas no one has reviewed this one yet, so kind of hard to choose...
I have use this on my Cherokee. It works great. The only thing you have to know is that you can't make any changes using a programming card. The programming cards only work up to 80A. Download the manual in the files area and it will tell you how to adjust factory settings. Good flying
For some reason my question disappeared. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/images/em_r olleyes.gif
Issue was I could not get the motor to stop running when I took my finger off the trigger on a wheel transmitter. Got help over on the HK forum. Unfortunately the ESC manual did not include this:
if you look on page 6 of the manual.the first beep seqence 4 A" beeps is for the trottle.
steps to set up
1, hold trigger all the way back (full fwd)
2, power on the ESC
3, the esc will beep(4 times)
4, during this 4(A") beeps release the trigger
5, the ESC will beep 2 times
6,remove power from ESC
7,put power on ESC push trigger foward(full rev sig)
8, esc will count batterys and arm
9, release trigger motor will remain stoped till trigger is pulled
in FWD direction motor will stop when trigger goes to mid position
Maybe because it is designed to be used on cars, I think you will find it's meant for planes, I would say it auto detects full travel of your wheel radio so when you release the trigger the esc app us power like it is meant to do.
Am I correct in asuming this speed controler comes without a switch to turn off the power to the Rx with and that it lacks auto cut off when signal from Tx is lost?
ESC's normally sies not have switches.
HK King 90A ESC is programmable with protection mode. That means that you may use function to either reduce power, or cut off power to your motor.
Keep'em flying

Hi I have just bought a piper j3 cub electric foamy and I am trying to assemble it but am having a lot of trouble, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this and can help please.[
The user manual under files the 'files' tab has instructions at the end. All you have to do is hole the throttle channel fully on when the esc is powered up to initiate programming mode.
Most if not almost all plane brushless motors are sensorless. Starting up a brushless motor, most ESCs guess and use back EMF to determine if they guessed correctly on the orientation of the motor. Planes are fine w/o sensors because the motor is always spinning. Some RC cars have sensors on the motors so they can start up smoothly instead of having to guess.
