P-40N Giant Scale w/flaps & retracts 1700mm EPO Green (ARF)
The P-40 Warhawk saw action in many theatres in WW2, including the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Pacific where it was used as both a fighter and more successfully as a ground attack aircraft. Most famously, the P-40 was used by the Chinese Flying Tiger squadron flown by US pilots, the success of this squadron against the Japanese airforce in China, even against the feared Zero, made them household names around the world.
This P-40 Warhawk is simply huge for a foam model! Being EPO, it is as tough as you would expect but at the same time, the moulded detailing is simply amazing. Despite it's size, this Warhawk should be easy to transport with it's removable 1pc wing and removable tailplane. The plastic moulded part details, like the very scale exhaust stubs, 3 blade prop/spinner, bomb cradle, .50 Cal machine guns, cockpit detail just go on and on and make for a stunning scale model.
This version serve's as both a "crash kit" just in case and as a basic airframe for those wanting to use their own equipment. The electric twist and turn retract/gear door assembly's and tailwheel assembly are included, as is the gear door/retract sequencer. You also get the scale prop/spinner and a shaft adapter. This is a reasonably involved assembly for a foamie and it will be important to choose your power train and RC equipment carefully, done properly, the end result as an impressive looking and superb flying scale warbird.
Includes: Twist n Turn Electric Retracts with Oleo Leg's & Electric Tailwheel Sequencer for retracts/landing gear doors Prop & Spinner Prop adapter All Hardware Instructions Motor Mount Light Blisters
Requires: Your Own 6 Channel TX/RX 4000mAh~4500mAh 6s Lipoly Battery 50-60 Brushless Outrunner Motor 250~320kv 4 x 9g & 7 x 17g Servo 60A~80A OPTO ESC 8A~10A UBEC Landing Light Set (Optional)
Somebody experienced who has bought this & installed motor, ESC, servos etc please list the parts you used and which you'd use if you were doing it again. Details please - eg there are a numerous 50-60 outrunners here, which KVA ? etc etc.
Because the NTM 50-60 is a great motor and in addition I'd like to fit this beauty with my own selection of servos.
That's why we can buy KIT versions.
Has anyone noticed that the wings incidence looks terribly different when paired up. The wing locates on the ply laminates pretty good, but when the epoxy has set and you eyeball across the wing from front to rear, they do look pretty bad.
I may decide to cradle them and make a twist jig to twist out one of the wings. Obviously, when this baby gets into the air and you get her trimmed out, the last thing you want, is to have both ailerons 6 to 10mm up and down to compensate this.
Please advise, if anyone has had this problem during construction. Also fittings missing.
It sounds like you got a defective wing. Ive never had much luck manipulating foam because it always seems to go right back to where it was but maybe your jig idea will work if you leave it set for a long period of time. Let me know what you come up with.

good day! 'm from sao paulo Brazil and would like to know about shipping to Brazil would be as? I want the model p-40
That might work although i was thinking to order it and rough a little bit all surface with a scrubbing sponge, this will add more mate finish thus more scale i think.
Ted the decals are up to you. You stick on what you want. The funny part is is Hobby King only put on one country they would have received just as many questions like "does it have Decals for my Country" I hope this helps.
My P40 airframe arrived today and "Yes", the decals are on and will need removing if you wish to apply a certain scheme preference.
I will apply a gentle warmth from a hair dryer to peel them away and maybe use the stickers to make masks and apply it in paint. I am not a fanatic for glossy stickers i am afraid.
Are they water-slide ? Can you try leaving a wet rag or water soaked cotton ball with a wet rag on top of a decal overnight to see if it softens. I couldn't care less how true to scale this cornflake box is, I'm NOT buying unless I can make it look more like a toy for grown-ups. lol
Well! after a little research, it turns out that this baby truly existed and in more glory than what you get with this model.
If you google the 15000th Curtiss Warhawk, you will find a whole catalogue of pictures but mainly black and white photos.
The bomb is also painted bright colors so you could go further with this one if you wish.
This paragraph was extracted from one of the newspapers of the time.
Hope this explains why this model is highly decorated.
The nightmare paint job above is the 15,000th Curtiss Warhawk, recently turned loose from the Curtiss-Wright plant at Buffalo, N.Y. Reason for all the insignia is to commemorate the 28 air forces which have used the famed P-40 since the beginning of the war. Note the red-nosed spinner cap and shark-puss of the Flying Tigers.
Nice plane, a lot of this type of plane flight in Europ so It's very enteresting for us from Europ.
Send Turnigy nano-tech 4000mah 6S 25~50C Lipo Pack and some different kind of servos (digital and MG) in Europ, too.
i have paul carpenter's..head curtiss tech rep..
it is an accurate scale paint scheme, done by curtiss amc.as a tribute to all countries whom bought and flew p40 fighters.it is a loud livery,
but accurately modelled..well done HK i would be proud to own one.
Unfortunately for me, and other true 'fanatics' of the P40.
This is a look only a mother could love.
If HK kept this plane a basic scheme, or allowed the modeller to apply the decals, it would appeal to many more people. If it was all green, I'd buy one tomorrow and apply the RAAF decals of my choosing, that would make me a VERY happy peril.

My mate has got this and i have been going over it with him. The Plane is good in most respects but the instructions are very poor being only a few dozen photos which dont help all that much. Requires planning before assemblery as most items need to be installed before glueing. Shame about the decals, they ruin it for me and also i could not find any replacement parts listed. Very good retract system which i would buy if they were available. Dont try to rush this one as it will take time to do proberly.

Arrived in Australia in good condition. Upon opening the box it was most impressive. Yes it is a pitty about all the stickers. It does take time to put together. I found the supplied glue next to useless and had to supply extra. After a number of hours I finally had it together, although was short on a couple of screws that I had to supply to complete. The model is impressive when finished. I still have to make minor adjustments to the main retracts as they are jamming. I have been a bit unlucky as the motor won't turn when the proppellor is attached. Also one of the servos decided to smoke so will have to be replaced. The port nav. light didn't work either. Am waiting for a reply from HobbyKing.

concern order 2005243480
Hi,
I'm very desappointed with this model!
1°-The assembly instructions are very very poor...just some too little
photos!It's a shame!
How to install the servos?
How to install the motor?
How to install the flaps?
How to install and move the landings door?
The pilot is moving (not glueing) in the canopy.
I really need responses.
2°-The sequencer for the landing gears is missing in the box.
Yours sincerly,Pierre.
