What is the speed controller suitable for this engine in a car?
 Gary 2974 points
Take a look at the Turnigy Trackstar 150A Part#TTS-150A or the Turnigy 160A Part#9192000001,both would be ideal.

There is no difference in terms of performance, model number is to signify car or boat application possibility.

is it the same as leopard 4074 200kv?
 Robert 21 points
Physical size and weight is the same. Run this on 4s and there will be no noticeable difference between leopard 4074. However, the specs for Leopard claims it can handle 6s, this one is not.

Has anyone run this motor above 4s? Usually 2000kv motors are good for 6s so I am a little surprised if this one cannot. Also, has anyone found the OEM for this motor?
 fred0000 104 points
i've only tested at 5s, I think it would be ok at 6s just watch temps and gearing.
 zenzen 52 points
5s with 150a esc on st-1 brushless is very good!!!!! not hot( i have a fan on it)
 Benjamin 1 points
I have tested this motor with 6s , it work very well! with 150A of course. With 6s this motor have a great powerfull! i think , it's a same of leopard 2000 *)

anyone know the distance of the mounting holes on these motors?
 fred0000 104 points
standard mounting specs (same a tekin t8 and any other 1/8 motor, I can measure when I get home if required.
 Shuz199 40 points
I am curious about the mounting hole distance too. Could you take the time to measure if you get a chance? Thanks.
iSkate  1 points - 2/23/2012

Guys, is this a 540 - 540XL type of can?
 fred0000 104 points
much larger, 540 is 36mm x about 50mm, this is 40mm x 74mm
 iSkate 1 points
But are the mounting holes set up the same as on a 540 Mamba Max motor?
Jacki  35 points - 2/12/2012

It will be good to use with Asso RC8T? Or give link to another motor on HK.
 fred0000 104 points

What does "Inrunner" mean? I used to think it was a term for boat motors?
 Polardegos 54 points
It means that the moving parts of the engine are spinning inside the stationary motor can. The magnets are mounted on the shaft in the center of the motor, and spin inside the stators. Outrunner is the opposite, the moving parts are on the outside, that is the can with magnets are spinning around the stator.

will this brushless motor be ok for the 1/10 e-revo? if not what brushless motor will be ok?
 Zahid Rasheed 70 points
Yes off course you can use it... good motor this one . i have it. second option would be KD36-74-09XL 1900kv Brushless Inrunner my 2 cents *)
 shanefletch 1 points
I run this motor in my eRevo with a 150A turnigy Trackstar with 2x 2S 5000mAh lipos in series for 4S. It's geared 18/56 with stock wheels and tires, no overheating issues no matter where I run it.

Is this a sensored motor?
 bruno 3 points
no! normally, and i think thats allways, the sensored motors have a other conector a part of the trifasical wires. see the diference searching and comparing beetween two kinds of motors. you can see this difference seeing the contrary part of the shaft.
 Jeroen 2 points
Tx bruno, I figured that, but with the pictures here one never really knows... Ordered it for my summit, will see how it goes in low gear when crawling - worried bit about cogging. Have to try.
 shanefletch 1 points
I run this in my 1/10 eRevo with a 150A turnigy ESC. Geared 18/56, there's VERY minimal cogging. I can crawl with it no hassles.
juans  12 points - 8/24/2011

whats the difference between 4 pole and 2 pole? this motor has 3 wires (tryfasic brushless), and it's 4 pole, how can you explain it? thanks!
 Zahid Rasheed 70 points
More magnet poles means more switching in the esc as the polarity changes more often for a single revolution of the rotor. That can create extra heat in the esc but good quality esc's can handle that. The advantage is that the higher pole count motor will feel "smoother" in the torque department and has a little natural braking as well off throttle. my 2 cents *)

 scarletboa 349 points
4 pole motors are generally much higher in torque and run much cooler than 2 pole motors. this is due to a much better design that gives much higher efficiency. the difference in esc temps is small with 4 pole, and that is only because you can get more power out of the motor compared to a similar sized 2 pole.

What are the dimension of the bullet connectors? 4mm?
 fred0000 104 points
Yes 4mm. Males installed on motor. And 3 female ends in the box.
dude75  27 points - 8/12/2011

Why someone posted leopard 4074 specs in the files section? Specs are actually different (internal resistance / #lipos) than the one posted on the leopard web site: ***********leopardhobby****/product/product_veiws.as
p?id=1251&functionID=01020201 Plus
the case is different, no housing on the top to hold the 3 wires.
dude75  27 points - 8/12/2011

What's the difference between this unit and the one labelled with a "B" (for boat)? It seems it has 4 poles, I read somewhere else that only "B" versions had 4 poles. I'm looking for a replacement for my Savage 2350 flux (motor burnt out). I don't want to pick a too much powerful motor as I don't want to replace the HPI Q-base / Mamba Max Pro included ESC. I'll drive only 4S lipo. Thanks.
 XTRA40 45 points
I can not see the difrence to But i have it in my mugen truggy mbx6T and it has loads of tork and good speed on a 4 cel lipo It becoms good warm but not to warm so i do not need to cool it extra
Arthur  23 points - 8/11/2011

it is 4s only??? should be 6s with only 2000kv!!!
 wrapter 1 points
It mostly capable of handling 6s battery ,i believe HK as made a typo in the specs it has to be 25v.
 fred0000 104 points
should be fine on 6s, just watch your temps.
I run mine on 4s only, 1/8 buggy class only alows 4s at my club
sampit  6 points - 8/2/2011

2 pole motor or 4 pole motor?
that is the question
 bongsky007 92 points
This is a 4 pole motor just like leopard motor and almost the same specifications..
 sampit 6 points
Great new,on that note I have just ordered a 4082 1600kv for my Hydro Marine agitator cat
these will sell in lorry loads at this price
 elgusanobi2008 65 points
fijese en la ficha tecnica, dice 4 polos
 Sheepy 24 points
The spec states that its a 4 pole motor. Looks like a good thing. Time will tell on the durability.
 the savy fluxer 24 points
pretty much the same price as the tacon from www.link
 the savy fluxer 24 points
this is the perfect motor for the pursuit or the genisis.
 Krunoslav 15 points
This are 4 pole. Think they are like this one www.link HK?
 elgusanobi2008 65 points
esto es un motor de 4 polos ,2 polos positivos y 2 polos negativos , mí*nimo se necesita 2 polos para poder girar un motor elé*ctrico , cuanto mas polos tiene un motor, mas suave es la potencia inicial de arranque
 Norway93 53 points
Should be perfect for 1/8 monster trucks, savage flux ect:-D
 elgusanobi2008 65 points
si si ,es lo mejor que hay , 2000kv en 5s es igual a 100kh de velocidad en mi hpi hotbodies escala 1/8 y es mas barato que un leopard

I use this in my Traxxas E-maxx with HK 120A ESC. E-maxx makes wheelies, but the power is not extraordinary. In case you are for BIG power, please check other motors.

I would like to be reviewing how this motor went in my E-revo however HK sent me some pos 36mm motor instead of what I ordered and payed for. Now because of HK's policies regarding returns and having to keep every scrap of packaging (that i threw out straight after opening) I am now stuck with A much cheaper motor that I can neither use or return.
After 70 orders and not one complaint till now I expected better service.
