Would this motor work on a 2 cell Lipo in a Losi ten-scte with the turnigy trackstar 120a sct esc?
 ShamrinHM 515 points
Of course it can..these motor rated up to 4S..just bare in mind that, on 2S it will not be on it full potential (1330W)..it will be a bit slow tho..and the 120A esc would be the perfect matched with these motor for me..Hope this help.
Greg  2 points - 4/18/2013

Thanks. I am running 4s on an sv27 and finally decided on starting with 10 deg.I will check my temps and performance then go up to 15 deg. If my temps are ok and I need a little more. The default on my Hk 120A is 20 deg. I thought that it was possible that I would end up there but not a good starting point.
 ShamrinHM 515 points
My boat using T120a esc too, fyi all Trunigy Marine esc default timing is 15deg pal not 20..These is what i knew..just becareful not to run higher timing setting on these motor..hope this help..happy boating..

 Greg 2 points
The turnigy may default to 15 deg but the hobby king is 20 or at least that is what the programming card defaults to. Thanks for the caution though.
 ShamrinHM 515 points
owh oke..i didn't realised that man..Thanks anyway and have a nice day..
Greg  2 points - 4/16/2013

What is the best timing for this motor
 ShamrinHM 515 points
It's all depends on individual setting and need to experimential it yourself..Im using 15deg on my 4S setup..hope this help.

Can any body tell me wich is best motor to use with the HK 120a, This motor above or the other turnigy motor xk 3665-2400kv Thanks
 ShamrinHM 515 points
That 2400kv (2 poles motor) should be fine with your car and 120A esc. These motor normally for boat use and that 2400kv is for car. That 'B' stand for boat up there. Sorry i didn't know that you are reffering to car application/setup here. Hope this help.

Thanks very much for your help shamrin, I wonder could you help me with one last thing, Jeffrey has said the 3674-b-2200 is a 4pole motor and the B means it is a 4pole but what you said makes more sence and it stands for boat, but is it a 2pole or 4pole and as it's already on its way to me, will it be ok for my car or am I gona have to buy the 3665, 2400. Thanks mate
 ShamrinHM 515 points
These motor is 4 poles motor. As far as i know any motor that has 'B' is 4 poles motor here in Hobbyking. If i were you, i will wait for my motor and try to run it first for few seconds or minutes then check the temperature for both motor and esc (safer tempt for me below 50deg C) if it is within that so no problem with your setup. If you cannot wait, take that 2400kv too, it has 2 poles for sure. Hope this help.
 boxer22 6 points
Thanks again pal, I'll do that, I'd say it should be powerfull enough, that I did look at, it was just the 4pole issue that I was worried about with the HK 120a esc, :)
tony honda  1 points - 3/18/2013

thanks for the answer but if you want to take another kind as I do how should I adjust amperage ESC ....??
 ShamrinHM 515 points
I didn't get you, sorry. But these motor Max Amps is 90A, therefore we should get esc with bigger Amp than the motor (safer setup), if im not mistaken it peaks up to 110A. So 120A is good matched with these motor or more bigger. Hope this help.
boxer22  6 points - 3/18/2013

Hello everybody was hoping some one could put me right as I have just bought this motor thinking it was 2pole and I now see Jeffrey has said it's 4pole so I'm now worried as I have also bought the hobby king 120amp esc and don't know if this get damaged if this motor is 4pole as its bigger brother the 150amp esc actually states not to use it with 4pole motors, Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. It's going in the trailblazer xb
 ShamrinHM 515 points
Hi there, if i may help. 120A esc should be fine with these motor. You just need to change the timing setting on your esc accordingly. For your info, im using outrunner motor (16poles) on my 60A and 120A esc with no problem. Hope this help.

 boxer22 6 points
Thanks buddy, what should I set the timing to and could you or anybody else tell me why the 150a says only 2pole and 120a has no mention of poles ?, what's the difference besides ampage. Cheers lads
 ShamrinHM 515 points
If im not mistaken, you are reffering to these esc HK-1-8-120A. Based from the spec given, suited motor is 7T motor and these motor has 19T. If im not mistaken, these motor is for boat use (that is why it has 4 poles). May be you need the 2 poles motor for your car.
 boxer22 6 points
Thanks shamrin but if this 3674 motor isn't right then I'm screwed as its already ordered and on its way and I'm pretty much broke now so fingers crossed with a bit of luck it will be ok, I wish they would just right 2pole or 4pole on each spec. Wright up and then no problems you get the motor you need *)
 ShamrinHM 515 points
Btw, just make sure you have enough room for these 74mm motor (quite long), anyway if i were you, i will just wait for these motor and have a test run first.
 boxer22 6 points
Good point shamrin, just had a look and I think it should be fine for room, the motor that is in it is a long one. As you said I'll just have to try it and see. I'm have the same discussion on the HK 120a esc site, auto x and k-note have been very helpfull, I broke a HK 150, using it with the Trackstar 4268-2350 4pole motor before they put the warning against using any more than 2 poles with it, So you can see I don't really want to do another lol :)
 ShamrinHM 515 points
Nice, anyway 4268 4 poles (42mm, correct me if im wrong) surely is big and too powerful for me compared with these motor. May be these motor can suited/matched your 120A esc. Anyway, enjoy your day pal.

this motor well work good with Turnigy TrackStar 120A Brushless Short Course Truck ESC? it will work good in 4s?and it need program card and if i need it what program card i need?and i will put it in hpi sprint 2 sport please somebody answer me because i want to order now
 Ninjatech 3651 points
Yes it will work fine with this ESC on 4S, if you adjust the timing and gearing of your car ,to keep the current up to 90A and the temperatures low. You need also the "Turnigy TrackStar ESC Programing Card".
Silver  1 points - 3/6/2013

Can it be used with 100A HK esc. For stampede 4x4
 Ninjatech 3651 points
It could work ,but it would be suffering when push it near the limits. I would suggest for this motor the HK-1-8-120A - Hobby King 120A Sensored/Sensorless Car ESC (1:8/1:5), as much more efficient.

i HAVE ONE NITRO KYOSHO DRX 1/9 AND WANT TO CONVERT TO ELECTRIC THIS MOTOR FITS WELL IN DRX OR IS TOO BIG AND POWERFULL FOR THIS CAR? WHAT MOTOR IS THE BEST FOR MY CAR? PLEASE GIVE ME SOME HELP!
 100ns 20 points
This should be fine, it depends are you looking for speed or torque? But with this you can have both, just make shure you have few gearing options(different pinions). For start i would go with 16t pinion and 4s lipo. I hope this helps.
JamesD1  3 points - 12/21/2012

I have a 80 amp and a 4s lipo 2200 anybody know if this is a good matchup?
 Bamber63 1 points
You need at least 120Amp ESC.
 Eddie 16 points
if you are going to run it an boat you need a water jacket and 180 amp esc is a perfect setb up for a boat for car you can get away with 120amp set up

 JamesD1 3 points
yes perfect matchup.
Adam  15 points - 11/11/2012

Whether it is compatible with the Traxxas Slash 2 wd?
 Bernard 1 points
The diameter will fit but the motor is longer than a velineon (which is a 3650). The shaft is a 5mm one so you will have to change your pinion and regear the transmission because of the lower kv of this motor. In conclusion : check if the 74mm length is good for you and find another pinion. The mounting holes will fit for sure.
 Rokcster 169 points
As mentioned above you will have limited gearing options with the 5mm pinion. I tried using a 74mm motor in an associated T3. With the difference in kv and few choices in gearing, I decided to abort the project. I think the velineon motor is a very good one. If you are not running 3s, you should give it a try. That motor will push that car faster than the car can handle. Hope this helps you. Good luck, Rokcster

I am looking for an brushless esc and brushless motor, for my txt-1 that I am building. I am goingto use the erevo 5608 brussless transmission. I really like Turnigy TrackStar 150A 1/8th Scale Brushless Car ESC PRODUCT ID: TTS-150A. But would this XK3674-B-2200KV Brushless Inrunner be a good choise?

Hi guys. I have supervee 27 and yesterday burnout my AMMO motor. Now want buy litle more stronger and less warm motor. Are this model will enought ower for my boat with 3 blades grimracer prop and swordfish 120A ESC? Are I need another ESC or will work my old? Thanks
 jeffrey 669 points
Yes this motor will work and runs very cool,4 pole. The swordfish esc will work but depends on how many cell battery you use. I use the 180 amp turnigy. It might be a little heavy for that boat.I would also suggest getting the longer water jacket for the 74mm motor.I run 4s and 5s with a 45mm grimracer 2 blade and I get more speed than the 3 blade ones,I have tried them all.Hope this helps.JK.

 feirdog 6 points
Thanks for reply. Would you show which one jacket will fit the motor? I use x2 Lipo 2S = 4 cells. so its ok for this motor and ESC? Are you mean that 2 blade propeller faster than 3?
 jeffrey 669 points
I put you a reply at the bottom of this page where you asked what jacket to use, ebay search for 60mm Water Cooling Jacket, there are three different colors, they all fit.Yes 4 cells are fine for the swordfish 120A esc.As far as the props I get better speed with the 2 blade than the 3 blade but it does use more amps.I just have not had luck with 3 blade props, you have to run more RPM with them.Hope this helps.
 feirdog 6 points
How you think, with this motor, 4 cell Lipo and 3 blades prop, my bot will run about 70-80 km/ hour? Coz with my last motor I got speed like that.
 jeffrey 669 points
Depends on the Kv Rpm of the motor you had in it.If its same Kv, you will have the same speed.
 feirdog 6 points
I had Ammo 36-50-2300kV
 jeffrey 669 points
Yes you will have about the same speed with no heating problems. You will also have more tork than the Ammo.So you might have a little more speed, because of the extra tork. The turnigy will spin the prop easier with less Amps.

Can anyone tell me if this motor is OK for 73 cm (29 inch) catamaran?

what is the max voltage?
 jeffrey 669 points
I run 6s on it with a 45mm prop in a apparition,it gets a little warm but not too hot,so I would say you will be safe running 6s depending on set up.
 james 28 points
6s with a 2200kv motor. Waaayyy too much rpm!
E-Jato  7 points - 10/8/2011

I have a converted Jato and was running a castle 3800kv motor with the sidewinder sct on a 7 cell nimh. geared at 18T/62T. would this motor on 3s be better? I hit 32mph with that gearing and a himh. what can I expect with 80-120 amp esc and this motor on 3s?
 jeffrey 669 points
You will have to run 4s to get about the same speed but you will have much more torque. 3800 7 cell nimh(8.4v)=31,920 rpm and 2200 3s(11.1v)=24,420. 2200 4s (14.8v)=32,560.Hope this helps, this is a great motor for the price.Very similer to Leopard.

has anyone tried this motor on 6s?
 jeffrey 669 points
Tried it today in my apparition cat boat(with watercool jacket) with 6s 40c's with 42mm prop, runs a little warm(62mph).I ran it with 4s 40c,s with 53mm prop(52mph),just barely warm.Im going to stick with the 4s so the motor will last. I like the 4 poles runs a lot cooler than the 2 poles.Well worth the money.
 feirdog 6 points
Which jacket d you use for this motor?
 jeffrey 669 points
Go to offshore electrics ,they have them.I use ones I got off ebay they are from china but they are awsome.they come in all kinds of anodized colors. On ebay search for 60mm Water Cooling Jacket Boat B36 540 Motor V2.This will get you there.Hope this helps.JK.

XK 3665 2300KV and XK 3665-B 2300KV ,what is the difference?the price is almost half.
 Dynamite Shikoku 31 points
I am guessing they are liquidating the older manufactured motors and these are the new pretty replacements. To be honest, i was sick of seeing pink and blue motors on this site.
 karolpenconek 616 points
Based for specifications given here and on the manufacturer site, motors with letter "B" have bigger price due it's 4 pole motor. Without letter "B" it's 2 pole motor.
 Dynamite Shikoku 31 points
nvm, also karol would a 2 pole be better to run in a heavy truck such as the Savage and Cen GST? what are teh advantages of 2pole vs 4pole?
 karolpenconek 616 points
4 pole motors have more torque and are much better than 2 pole motors. Especially for heavy vehicles. Also in cheap motors class 4 pole motors will be more effecient and less heat (the highest class of 2 pole motors like Lehner and 4 poles slie Neu have simmilar effecienty)

thank you for quick reply

I am pretty sure this one is a 2 pole motor. some of the other turingy motors clearly state they are 4 pole in the beging of there discription. The construction of this one also looks inferior so i highly doubt it is 4 pole.

It's really good motor for boat. It have 4 pole rotor with 12 teeth stator. I use it in Mono 2 class boat with Tenshock 42mm prop, zippy 5800mAh 4s lipo and Turnigy aquastar 120A esc. After 6 minutes it's hot but not too hot-about 50-60 celcius degrees. Average amps is 63A. In this price is the best choice but it do not have effecienty and quality as a Neu/Etti/Lehner motors. In my opinion this motor is better than Feigao and KD series motors

Runs my blitz at about the same speed on 4s as it did a KD 3660 3500kV motor on 3s ran. Tons of power, I ran without a heatsink and it got very warm, but not so hot I couldn't hold onto it. Only downside is that with this and the 120 esc, it's made my blitz heavy on the left. I'll have to relocate the esc to the other side. Truck is very heavy now and will require upgraded S compound tyres. Performs like a brick because of the current weight, but a very powerful brick. :)

I have an XTM Rail and a BL Cage both made by Great Vigor. The Cage i purchased ready to run the XTM Rail i assembled in parts with the help from Hobby King's massive list of components. This motor is equivalent to the STD G.V. motor. "I have to say its better" price and availability are outstanding. Thanks Hobby King

Got one two days ago and put it in new E-MAXX 20T pinion on 4S, and i love it. After two battery pack motor is still cold, 45C max temp on the outside of the can. Fast and lot of torque, wheeles after half of the trotle is normal. Very powerfull and light motor for light setup MT. Today i have put 17T pinion, temp 40C little less speed, but still wheeles on demand, and little longer runtime. This is my second Turnigy motor and so far and no complain, ill buy another Turnigy motor for my next setup 6x6 MT.
