The HobbyKing Red Brick ESCs wont win first place for style, though they will take top points for simplicity and reliability. With a basic set of programming features these ESCs are a perfect solution for anyone looking for a basic yet robust speed controller.
Specs. Max Amps: 30A Ubec: 5v / 2A Cells: 2~3s Lipoly Size: 52mm x 14mm x 25mm Weight: 22g (Inc Wires)
Stepping into a big pile.. I found the motor/fan I want (I hope). HK90132 edf out runner 4300 with OR003 edf 6bl 2.56in. I need sipped controller, battery (11v) what else. What matches? Help. Did I mention I need eight for one plane...lol. Yep. Weight should not be a problem. What a place to start electric flight.. Help. Will give credit when the B52 is built..
Love to know how that got posted tree times, anyway I solved the problem by replacing them with F-30's and they are sooo much faster. Even the RPM straight out of the box was better. The Red Bricks will go to the waste bin.
I put a RedBrick30 on a 30" Deltawing it has
28series 750 kV, 800mAh 3S, 2 x 9grm servos, I am about to try to hand launch and fly this very nice design without breaking anything right? And doing it alone in a 10 acre field with a gentle breeze, it's the hand launching and getting on the stick.... I am nervous to say the least. I have never flown any fixed wing yet.
Now for its maiden,.. I got one question before I take it out and brutalize it..
Could someone tell me before I wrap this around a tree, what these things behave like with factory defaults. I cannot get the programming card to boot up, it is the Turnigy programming card, it supose to work for this Redbrick 30, there is no LED's lit up.
As mine is right now,.. should it do ascending tones indicating a 3S battery attached??, mine beeps once and over time the throttle inputs get varying results in the output.
I am so close to not careing and just flogging the thing

Would love to review this speed control, but it wasn't in the box when it arrived . HK says robots packed and checked it so it must be there . I guess it is invisible . Done with Hobby King .
I just recently bought the red brick 30A ESC. When I plug in the battery it does absolutely nothing. I'v got all the weirs where there supost to go but I cant figure out the problem. If you have a suggestion please post it, or email me at rrbeidleman*gmail****
I would suggest you to contact HK support. I had an issue with a faulty red brick. They've just made me send them a video showing the problem and a few days later a refund was made with HK points. I would had prefer it to work, but support was great without having to send back the item (which would had cost more than the ESC itself)
Yes!!! has an UBEC, 5V 2A and you could use with planes and helis, always has a default program and if you need to use with your heli you can program HK RedBrick. An ESC are included too, 30A, so, you must pay attention in your load (e-motor)
I had LOOSE soldering material rolling around in it, and FET-s burned out with 5 cm FLAME and lot of SMOKE.
do yourself a favor REMOVE the heat shrink, check for soldering loose material, re-grease with computer processor heat -paste (use WHITE, silver may lead electricity) and see if the soldering joints (on 12V and on motor output leads) are not shorted because uf the heat sink-s. (use the silicone film which is included in the ESC) then re-shrink and done.
No, this is only for brushless motors. But for example this http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__6468__Turnigy _30A_BRUSHED_ESC.html is for brushed motors.
I purchasing a PZ P-51 mustang BL. It has a motor upgrade. The motor in it is a 1100kv. I am going to put a Spektrum AR400 receiver in it. Is this the right ESC I would need? Also, do connectors come with it? If not, I'm wanting to have an EC3 battery connector and the right connector for the motor...
eric correct (connectors link, www.link this ESC is good, however you should see if the consumption of the engine that will use not exceeding 30A (in some cases engines with 1100 kv give over 30A consumer, beware if you have a consumption meter would be good)
Hi richard,
For brushless motors there should be three leads, unlike a brushed motor, which have two leads.
It it does not matter which ESC lead goes to which motor lead. If you need the motor to turn the opposide direction then swap any 2 leads. Hope this helps.
Richard said that you are new to RC Heletrico suggestion: do not forget to check the consumption of motore together with the propeller that will use because the case ultrapase 30A which is the peak consumption of ESC can come q burns it

Dear Matthew,
Cause of short we show you in a proper sense it doesn't mean that cause of opening its not working.
I purchased to made a copter but one by one ESC were short so we check and send you all details that all ESC covering is not perfect so getting damaged.
We are going to supply this kind of other copters to here people, and for that i need your support.
This is not a matter of one ESC damaged out of four, but its a matter manufacturing defects of ESC.
I can't say more but this is your duty complete order or we (our flying club all members http://www.ckpcet.ac.in/s-community/events.php) will discontinue next order to Hobbyking.com

i have the same defective problem but with 1000mah lipo the balance plug does not read brand new never used they wont help me. very poor service. our club will not buy much only already proven things so by not helping they lose thousands upon thousands and yet it seems to not matter that not honor.
Our association will also not support to hobbyking product and online portal services, after this bad experience.

nobody but the world haha
very pointless putting warranty claims here thats what the support section is for not discussion. weel talk about it we cant do anything
no but try this TURNIGY Basic 25A v3.1 Speed Controller that will give you long life longer flights cooler motor it only require esc alone but those help like if you want to run flaps all digital servos i just use 30ampesc/3ubec built in theres a blue hk of this but its out of stock the plush will serve you well for years. have fun fly high as you can lol.
wait sorry try turn on remote then throtle up all the way then plug in the plane wait till beeps then throtle down wait and thats it hope this helps . if you want theres a manual just to the right on the top of these questions click files its next to videos reveiws disscusions it has the manuals on every thing thats sold usually thats where you find it. hope this helps credit me if it does it comes from hobbyking for helping they pay. cool huh. well have fun keep flyin!
OK, so i close the throttle after the first beep? The manual indicates the first setting (auto lipo detection) will have 2 beeps. The reason i ask is i fried a brand new trust 55A esc after doing it this way. Burned a massive hole in my radjet so i'm slightly apprehensive *) If you confirm and it works, i'll issue you credit for sure. Cheers
no it does not have the liniar throtle control you will want use the plush 30amp the plush needs no fash! or (blue hk 30amp/3ubes with flashed firmware)
somone said the blue round one by hobbyking i personally havent tried it i dont have a brick yet. im in love with the blue hk esc 30amp/3ubec in stock its rock solid never a fail ever 2-4s.
The blue round one by hobbyking can only program Hobbyking Speed controls. Don't buy for redbrick if you connect the redbrick to blue round you break the esc
i fitted 4 of these in a quadcopter 1 of them set on fire.. i have now been told i needed to cut 3 of the red wires to the controller..can anyone tell me why.. they were supposed to be supplied with an instruction manual but werent grrr
ESC provides power for your receiver (and KK2) via inbuild BEC. In your case, you have to disable the other three BEC's because only one BEC is required for powering the KK board and Rx. And you don't need to cut the red wire, just plug it out from connector with a needle, and wrap with some scotch adhesive. That way allows you to re-use that ESC later on a plane for example.
you could use the blue series hobbyking 30amp esc/3a ubec costs 8 dollars well worth the money! has the ubesc built in so you get way better effitientcy or run time and it takes heat away from the motor and esc. out of thousands i still have not heard of one bad or problem. i have two myself vey dependable 2s-4s esc
for a plane not a quad not enough liniar control for smooth flight they will work but not well. i would suggest the one mentioned above flashed with simon monk firmware truley remarkable flying ability.
mine does just fine it depends on the amount being drawn the raptor comes with 30amp esc 4 9g servos. yes it should just fine if its a park flyer. if you have gear or lights then maybe use a ubec
you need to check the motor and see what amp draw it has it will have it on the specs 2200 kv wont tell what amp you need the size of the motor is what determines amp draw along with prop.

1 thumbs up!
I've used two of these in my CL-415 Canadair driving turnigy L2210-1650 motors. These are a perfect match for the Canadair. Huge power for take offs, low current for cruising around. I've plugged these into a Y plug so both are powering the rx with no problems. Very highly recommended. Flying on 1 2200-3s 20c turnigy lipo.

1 thumbs up!
Calibration should be set 1. UP the throttle stick to maximum 2. connect the battery to esc 3. beep.beep.beep~ (2seconds to throttle down to a minimum) 4. Complete the calibration set
