Can I use these servos with my futaba gy401
 william 46 points
Its plenty fast enough, only issue i would see is the Jr Plug, the Futaba plug is different... I planned to use this servo on my hk-500 but ended up going with a DS-525m..... Shouldnt be to much trouble to change the plug out, never tried so I couldnt really say, I run all JR Plugs
 2Doggs 274 points
the only difference between the JR plug and the Futaba is the JR lacks the polarity fin - so JR plugs will always fit Futaba RX's. This servo should work fine with the GY401, but I've had five of these burn out after around 100 flights on the tail of a ZYX equipped 450. The motor seems a bit fragile.

The MG 930 are popular and a little more powerfull
 william 46 points
MG-930 isn't very good tail servo to slow, would be a good ccpm servo though. Personally i like the Corona DS329MG for CCPM (it has better torque and a little faster then the 930) and then this HK15158A for the tail.

these work good in my hk 500, but would any one know what the metal gear equivalent is?
 2Doggs 274 points
I'm not sure anyone does a metal gear version - this is aimed mainly at tail use in a heli, where metal gears are not really an advantage.
 william 46 points
You running these on the swash or tail?? If your looking for a swash servo try Corona DS329MG or the MG-930 Roger suggested, as for a tail servo this is the best i've found so far.

Do you know how this servo will do in a drift car setup?
 2Doggs 274 points
Probably not too well, since it only uses plastic gears.

Is this servo suitable for ( HK-450pro TT) and can I use it with HK-401B Gyro? are they compatible?
 2Doggs 274 points
Yes, it's a good fit in the tail servo mount, though you need to use servo nuts and not use the rubber grommets. It can be set to run at 1520us/333Hz, i.e. D/S mode on the 401b. My main grips with this servo is that it has a bit of backlash in the gears, but it can work pretty well on a 450 tail. Do yourself a favour though, and get a better gyro! The GA-250 or GY-520 (from another seller)are both mini0mems gyros, and much better than the 401b.

This servo works great for me (sport flying so far). 6 flights back to back on EXI450 Pro. Setting at 1520/70hz on assan GA250 gyro 68%. Comes down cold as a cucumber after 8 minute flights. Power is 2200mah 40c, turnigy helidrive sk3 motor 3600kv, 40a skywalker esc. Weather temp today at 52 degrees F. Am going to put this servo in my HK450v2 soon!!

can i use these servo for a HK500gt?
 CHRIS SV AZ 193 points
yes you can. they fit perfect for the cyclic but i do not recomend them for the tail. i burned up 1 on a 500 tail and 1 on a 450 tail. cyclic no problems and very fast
 Liftforward 14 points
Yes, however I would recommend using a metal gear servo on the 500.
 earl 6 points
I second that! Definately want to use metal gear servos for a 500. Had these servos and they strip out really easy.
 2Doggs 274 points
Most tail servo burning up incidents are caused by binding in the tail linkage, which can quickly creep up on you. Keep that tail lubed! lots of people use them on 450 tails, and they would be a very low cost solution for a 500 tail. Fair bit of slop in the gears though, but then for $7....

Anyone know what speed settings these are for use with the Assan GA-250? Thanks in advance!!
 CHRIS SV AZ 193 points
leave it set to 1520. i used this servo on a 401b and an align gp750. align was set to 1520 and hk-401 does not have option to adjust
 2Doggs 274 points
I think it would only be safe to set the gyro to 80Hz - which the latest GA-250 will allow, There are so many reports of the servo burning out that I reckon there's a good chance it can't work at more than 80Hz.
 2Doggs 274 points
In fact I now think it's more likely that the servo an only run on 4.8v. I just killed mine on its 8th flight at 5.9v, 333Hz.

little bit of slop in the gear train but i have seen worse. i put this on my hk 500GT tail with gy48v gyro. turnigy dmg930 cyclics, turnigy 1800kv typhoon motor 11t pinion, castle ice75 esc running 5.5v bec, blue lipo 6s 3000, pitch -11/ 11, 80pcnt flat throttle curve. first flight set up/test hover no problems. second third and fourth flight at the field mild 3d loops rolls and flips no problems. tail held well with this tail servo and gyro, i have not hit my max gain yet (tail not wagging) so i am slowly turning up the gain so i am sure it will hold even better in future flights! VERY FAST, HOLDS TAIL WELL!!!

So far it works, will see when it burns. Very thin casing plastic, quite loud.
