Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 3530-1340kv Brushless Outrunner Motor
Turnigy SK3 Motors are the next leap forward in motor quality and design. We instructed the engineers to source the best quality magnets, bearings and materials available to them and develop a motor that would not only rival, but surpass the quality of many leading motor manufactures on the market today.
The result is an efficient, high caliber motor using quality double shielded bearings, sintered Neodymium magnets and a string wound stator ensuring an accurate and consistent winding each and every time.
The Turnigy SK3 motors are suited to modelers who are seeking a quality brushless motor without compromise.
mate I have both motors and I can tell you in terms of efficiency the rimfire.10 is better but the biggest difference is the "kv" as rimfire can turn an apc 10x6 efficiently where as sk3 3530 1340 will turn a 9x6. rimfire= more thrust sk3 3530 1340=more air speed. Other than that these are identical. Check the file section it has the rimfire.10 vs the sk3 3530 1340kv
I am planning to use this to build on a mini Contender EP. I am looking for something that's similar to the Rimfire .10, as Atish had said, it's similar, what kind of prop and ESC do I need? Thanks!
Hi tu I have the rimfire.10 and the sk3 3530 1340. The weights are exactly the same so are dimensions. (99 grams with accessories). To get the most efficient performance from sk3 3530 1340 I use this motor with a silver series 35amp esc 9x6e prop and a 2200mah 3s 25c battery. The plane I use is the kyosho spree sports 810gram flying weight and it takes of a 70% throttle. check files tab for my pictures. It will be perfect for the topflite mini contender
I assume the shaft that attaches to the rear of the motor is an adapter (helicopter?) & isn't needed for fixed wing aircraft? Am I correct on that? Thanks.
I am running a 10x6 folding prop from hobbyking and drawing just under 40A. The motor is still cool and the Turnigy Trust 45A ESC with Sbec is running cool as well.
Can I please confirm the diameter is 38mm?
and the length WITHOUT shaft? Thanks.
That is mounting flange to front face of spinning part without shaft.
I can quite see which part even spins , and I want to mount it on my stock Flyzone switch plane. Would that work ok without being too long?
Snurdly, the supertigre .10 is 30mm in length plus a 10mm prop adapter which makes it 40mm untill the prop comes. The sk3 3530 is around 37~38mm in diameter and when the apadter is screwed on the bell it becomes 38~39mm in length which is similar to the supertigre motor so it will be a direct swap without being too long or short on the flyzone switch. Hope this helps.
the switch uses a 10x5 prop which is going to reqire a lot out of the motor, go for the sk3 3530 1150kv or change the prop to 9x6 if using the 1340kv motor.
Will this motor be sufficient for a 1200mm 3D foamie. All up weight 700g. I will be using a quark 33A esc and nano tech 3s 2200mah. Also what size prop. Very new to electric so need some advice here. Thanks
I'm wondering why there is a change in the way the maximum amp load is expressed for these motors. There is no "burst" load with a time limit rating, just a "maximum load". Does that mean the motor can sustain the quoted load continuously, or is there still a limit to the amount of time the motor can run at that maximum? Also, I'm wondering about the power rating shown for this motor* 11.1v x 28amp = 311 watts, not 375.
I would like to use this in a quadcopter, but for the life of me cannot find the right props on HK. If someone can please help me select the right CW and CCW props (10" SF?) I would greatly appreciated.

In a word, awesome! This motor is very well constructed, very well balanced, and comes with a great accessory package. I am using this on a Herr Engineering Little Extra weighing 30oz with a 9x6 prop and 3 cell 2200mAh Zippy battery. With this prop it only draws about 24A which is plenty for big vertical (not unlimited) vertical maneuvers. I think this motor will easily handle a 10" prop on 3 cells, but would draw over 30A. I haven't attempted this as I am using a 30A ESC and a 9" prop is about all the ground clearance I have. In flight this motor is super, super smooth. I would definitely buy another SK3.

i replaced the stock motor of the radian with this motor. i am using a 10x6 folding prop, 40 amp esc, and 2200 30c 3s lipo battery. half throttle sent the plane vertical to around 1800 feet or more in less then 30 seconds. after the flight, the motor and esc was cold. the battery had 76pcnt life. this motor is efficient as well. i purchased three other different sk 3 motors for other planes. all the motors had no problems performing well. this motor is all quality. hk raised the price of this motor $5. even so, i can't ignore how good this motor is and won't deduct any stars. worth the purchase.

flew my radian and as it was ascending vertically the wings came apart. this motor is so powerful. had to tape the wings and then had a good flight. some planes are not made to go fast. i'm happy with this motor.

Well done Hobbycity.
Quality is same or even better than earlier SK2-series. Bearing fittings are OK and quality of bearing good. Accessory pack has everything what you need, but not female connectors for ESC. I think these are not necessary - anyway you need connectors to both sides of ESC. I will buy more these.
