If hobbyKing has itemn's in the Aussy warehouse and even states cheep delivery cost, why does everything come from overseas? I buy an item for less than $50.00 but it costs $30.00 more for postage? I don't follow.
 Jason 9 points
Mine was $31.34 in shipping to California :( Love hobbyking, but if I could do it over would just pick up the Hobbico mini-cub for the roughly the same cost.

So mine showed up broken.. Servos make noise but do not move the control surfaces ( sounds stuck).. What is the easiest way to get in there and work on this thing, remove the wing (it seems glued down)
 Jonathan 16 points
Hi Jason, I read here another guy's story saying he had the similar problem but he kept on turning off and on his tx and plane until it finally worked. Before you cut open the plane try this for a few more times and try even to rebind the plane. Hope it works!

Jonathan, Thanks for the thoughtful reply.. That actually helped fix part of the problem.. Rebinding fixed the elevator, had to toggle the mode switch a few times and got the rudder back.

so can I use the micro jst parallel charge leads (6 plugs) for this battery and the Turnigy nano-tech 160mah 1S 25~40C Lipo Pack (Kyosho, E-flite Nano CP X, ******** Etc.)? and what cheap charger can charge this for a reasonable amount of time?
 glenn_mech 314 points
try accucel6 charger.its great
Jon Edilpert  1 points - 5/13/2013

what is the port of the battery? is it jxt?
 Jonathan 16 points

Is this for intermediate pilots?
 glenn_mech 314 points
for beginner and intrmediate pilots..its fun to fly this plane..i have this plane...but i modified it..with a larger motor from micro p51.
Brent  26 points - 5/7/2013

has anyone attempted to change the motor in this plane? mine seems to be way down on power.
 glenn_mech 314 points
stock motor is enough for level flight only..i have a pic at file tab.showing a p51 motor, gearbox, and a prop.
philippe  1 points - 5/4/2013

Not so good here. I got one of these the other day. The servos only travel half their throw, or less, and the control surfaces hardly moved. I couldn't do much about the servos, so I replaced the control horns with much shorter ones. More movement now. I had to tape a large washer to the front to bring the CG ahead and it still wallows unmanageably on turns. I suspect it may be too slow and borderline tip stalling or the rudder may be too small. I have a micro Flyzone Cub similar to this which works (until I mostly wore it out) like a dream. Then again, it was twice the cost. I'll keep flatulating with this one, but I suspect it's going to be prematurely broken up into other projects. Having fun with my Bixler though.
 glenn_mech 314 points
mine works perfectly, control surfaces moves a little but its enough to make turns and take off..i think the key here is to replace the power system...i try to upload a vid showing how this plane fly with a new motor..but no success...any help is much appreciated..
 philippe 1 points
I worked on it some, power is the key, the thing barely had what it needed for level flight. Tack on a washer on the nose for CG, and not enough power to fly anymore. Thanks for offering to help on swapping engines, I'm good, new to rc, not to tinkering. Sorry I can't help about the video. Let you know haw an engine swap goes when I do it.

philippe...just use soldering iron to dig the foam.

This is a great little plane. But after just 1week i have managed to break both my props. Does hobbyking have a replacment part? Thank you.
 glenn_mech 314 points
Daniel,HK dont have spareparts for this plane, however you can replace the motor, gearbox and prop.with the parkzone p51 micro parts, and gives it a good flight performance..i used it.

Litehawk Canada has a complete line of replacement parts for this plane. It's called "ZOOM". Great prices and the ship internatiolly as well. Hope this helped!

Can't get the rudder to work :( The throttle and elevator work fine but the rudder seems to be dead. dont think ill ever get her flying :(
 Norbit84 137 points
I had the very same problem with mine, I thought it was a dud. but, i just kept binding it over and over again and eventually it worked! have about 30 flights on it now and it still works perfectly! Hopefully this will work for you as well. Best of luck!
Tim  15 points - 3/20/2013

Im trying to change the transmitter to mode 1, so ive moved the switch to mode 1 bt i need to move the spring over. i opened the transitter up but i cant find any springs or anything. Please halp!
Tim  15 points - 3/15/2013

How do you change the mode frome mode 2 to mode 1? I will award credit!
 Norbit84 137 points
One day i was toying around with mine, when it was turned off i has moved this counter-sunk switch from "2" to "1" then turned the TX on then plugged in the flight battery and BAM! it was working as mode 1! although you would probably want to open the TX and remove the spring from the right hand stick and install it on the left hand one. hopefully its that easy for you as well!! If not, just reply and ill go through it again to make sure i have it correct!

All the lights seem to be doing the right thing, however the rudder and elevator are still dead. there is no way that I shall open the fuse on such a delicate model to look.
 glenn_mech 314 points
i open my fuse using a thin cutter.to replace my motor
 Norbit84 137 points
Do you have throttle control? if you do, its likley a servo problem. if no throttle control, the RX, TX or both could be at fault. Either way you will no doubt have to look at opening up the fuse, send it back to HK or set it somwhere as a static display model.
 glenn_mech 314 points
rob...wait...install tx battery and then the rx batery..then move the throttle.up and then down position...
rob  2 points - 2/18/2013

what is and where do I find "Bind Procedure"
 Norbit84 137 points
First, turn on the TX then move the throttle fully up then down. Next, connect the flight battery to the airplane, a red light should be seen shining through the fuse. it should flash first then stay solid, if it does the bind was successful. Hope this helps!
rob  2 points - 2/17/2013

I received one on Friday 15/2 I cannot get the rudder or the elevator to work, dead as! Tried new battery's recharge and the "match frequency" problem solve. No Joy. Am I missing something and if not where to now?
 Norbit84 137 points
I had the very same problem with mine, I went through the bind procedure about 6 times and it started working and it's been great since. Another possibility is that glue had got into the servo, if that's the case you'd have to open up the fuse in order to get at them. Good luck!

Fantastic little plane for newbies. Unfortunately its time has ended for me after 3 days of flying :( . A few to many rough landings resulted in a bent/loose propeller shaft. Oh well it was a blast, and im glad i bought this little cheep-o instead of a more expensive plane to start out on. Onto the next plane i guess unless anyone has any solutions to my problem.. -Austin.
 bturby 47 points
You should be abbot to use a hobby zone champ motor to replace the bent one.
 Norbit84 137 points
Litehawk Canada has all replacement parts for this plane they call it a "ZOOM", and at very reasonable prices. They also ship internationally. Hope this helps!
 glenn_mech 314 points
Austin replace it with p51 parkzone motor and gearbox combo with p51 prop.
EZflight  35 points - 2/9/2013

I have this unit , after a few flight, the engine stalled and will no longer give power to lift the airplane.I already purchase the one H.K selling, the one with engine mount, gear box and motor, made by nine eagle. I hope it will last longer than the original set up.
 glenn_mech 314 points
ezflight, replace your gearbox motor combo with the p51 motor gearbox.from parkzone...and include the prop..it will give your micro j3 a decent flight.

Just use hing tape to fix the rudder, it will last for a long time.
Austin  2 points - 2/7/2013

Just got this in today. Everything works except for the rudder servo :/ I really don't want to send it back, i would much rather buy a new servo if that is even possible? Ps. how do you even get into the plane?
 glenn_mech 314 points
servo is built in with the esc...its a big problem if yours got defective.

Anyone have advice for repairing damaged rudder hinges?
 glenn_mech 314 points
norbit84,i just use clear tape...it works fine.
 NewToHobbyKing 6342 points
Norbit84 I must agree. Many hinges, for foamies are tape. I do recommend you use a good quality tape. You can buy tape here (1/2" wide x 4m -3M Blenderm Tape SKU: 9171000114) or any good branded tape like 3m. Tare!
 Matthew 3 points
I used clear contact its a little more flexible than tape its the stuff we used to cover our books at school with.

Got this plane in and it arrived in great shape. Took it to indoor and it flew great! The transmitter is a good size and feels good to handle(not like the wierd ones in the parkzone stuff). The transmitter is just a 3 channel with only throttle on the left stick. The motor has a good bit of power for indoor and could probably loop the plane with a dive entry. The finish of the plane is VERY good with some nice detail like plastic dummy motor and molded rib detail on the wing and tail. One draw back is the tail wheel which is in a weird area too far forward n the fuse(I hot glued it to the rudder where it belongs which also gave it better ground handling).I will be adding fairings to the landing gear for scale and maybe some light wing struts.

Buoni voli. Giacomo

this is an AMAZING deal. it is as easy to fly and durable as the p a r k z o n e micro j3, slightly (a couple inches) bigger, more powerful, and HALF THE PRICE!!! how are parkzone selling ANY of their micro cubs? and HOW is this not backordered? i ordered one for my friend's birthday, and ordered another at the same time for myself so we can do streamer combat. BUY IT NOW! and no, i do not work for hobbyking.

Hi, This is my first plane, and as a beginner I can say that it is a great plane to start flying, it is strong enough to fly outside but in very, very light wind conditions the plane is very light! and the flying time is around 10 good minutes, the wing and main structure are strong but the tail ( rudder and elevator ) are a bit weak, due to the size and thickness of the push rods and the foam. I broke the tail during a landing but I made another one with balsa wood and better push rods. I fly very well and I'm sure that everybody can fly it!!! great start and good product !
