Turnigy 4000mAh Spektrum DX8 Intelligent Transmitter Pack.

Turnigy 4000mAh Spektrum DX8 Intelligent Transmitter Pack.

Replace the standard 2000mAh Spektrum DX8 NiMh battery pack with Lipoly capacity and spend less time charging and more time in the air!

Lithium polymer batteries last much longer than NiMH packs as they have a far better energy density. The Turnigy DX8 Intelligent Transmitter Pack also features a built in voltage protection circuit, this circuit will automatically cutoff once the pack drops to 2.85v per cell ensuring the battery will not be damaged if you accidentally leave your transmitter switched on. The voltage protection circuit will also restrict charging to 4.2v per cell ensuring the pack can never be over charged.

Peace of mind charging, extended run times and Lipoly convenience like never before, Upgrade your DX8 transmitter with Intelligent Lipoly technology today!

i dont understand how to use is. someone can help me About balancing battery is there a lead wire to plug in some where for balance? all lipo need balancing.
 Tiquana 3 points
balancer has the internal battery pack
 Mr Krinkle 614 points
Like Tiquana said, balancing is done internally. Look down a little further at the video I've linked on how to setup your transmitter for using and charging this battery.

does it has a balance plug ?
 Mr Krinkle 614 points
No, the battery has it's own balancing built in.
 Chris 21 points
Hi Christian, Mr Krinkle is absolutely right, there is no balance plug as it is designed specifically to be charged within the transmitter using the built in transmitter charging system. you should only charge it when fitted into the transmitter. I have been using one of these for over a year now and get hours from each charge, with this you don't need to worry if your transmitter is charged if you just want to pop out for an unplanned flight.

is it possible to charge this lipo with the original charger?
 Mr Krinkle 614 points
Yes it is. Just go to your settings and change the battery from NiMh to LiPo. Look on you tube for videos on it.
 Mr Krinkle 614 points
Here's a video on how to do it

 Mr Krinkle 614 points
My multimeter reads 8.3V, and my transmitter says 8.2V at full charge.

And that was using a Swallow charger not the transmitters charger.
 tommy2toes 2084 points
thanks mine is now charging not sure why it would not before maybe because i thought it was at 7.4 so when i discharged it by using it to fly then it only wanted to go to that begining cycle it seem that way. i kept pushing start and went past it then it just went and took the .50amp but i did have to begin two more times like every time the charger went one line up on the little battery it shows it stopped but it charges all others fine so ithis must have a protector in it thats good if it does it just works both ways so it wont charge or discharge to fast. you think maybe?

if it says that each cell can hold 4.2 thats total 8.4 but mine only chrges to7.4 exactly why?
 wellmanite 183 points
Try going into the setup menu and select lipo for battery type. Thens it should charge up to 8.2v.
 tommy2toes 2084 points
i did it wont why not?
 tommy2toes 2084 points
even on a seperate charger it only goes 7.4 is mine bad half cells or?

is there another lipo i can use? i can make a plug now that i see where to find it. i dont think its working right. only goes to 7.4 is that right?
 Tosif 18 points
7.4 is the 30 percent charge in 2 cell lipo. we shouldn't go below then 7.4. If external multichemistry lipo charger is not charging it more then 7.4, then the lipo is gone. otherwise something wrong with TX charging unit.
 tommy2toes 2084 points
the chrger is great so the lipo was bad from day one only round three weeks old right now! sucks tell me if your tx turigy 4000 from here charges to 8.4 ?

no its in your transmitter.
 Mr Krinkle 614 points
No idea why my comment was censored?! I only said to use the transmitter to charge.
 matt 5 points
The transmitter will charge the lipo battery. First replace the stock battery with the lipo. Then go into setting of the transmitter and select lipo for battery type. Then plug in the transmitter with the stock transmitter charger.

Some time ago I "adjusted" the battery compartment on my Futaba T6J to take this battery and it is just fantastic. I use it for sailing and I can go for months without having to recharge. I am going to order at least one more soon and make it fit in my T8J that I use for flying my helicopters. It is just a terrific upgrade. Yes you have to modify the case a bit but I'll take the chance on warranty (they are out of warranty now anyway) for the reduced hassle of low/dead batteries every time I turn around. It has been in my T6J for over a year now and never missed a beat. Fabulous
 bdfox1 5 points
Oops, forgot to say that I had to change the plug to work with the Futaba and that I always take the battery out of the radio to charge it using my normal Lipo chargers.

You probably won't like my advice because it would involve no Spektrum radios. I refurse to use them so I have no advice about it. I think you have to change something in one of the menus to tell it that it is dealing with a Lipo

Are there four 18650 size cells with 2000mAh and PCB inside?
 twistedge 43 points
No, this pack is not made from 18650 batteries (they would be too big). 18650's are Lithium Ion, where this transmitter pack is Lithium Polymer (2 cells).
Joseph  5 points - 3/13/2013

This 4000 MHA IS NOT TRU 4000 MHA ALL YOU ARE GOING TO GET OUT OF IT IS 3400 MHA !
 matt 5 points
You are still paying a low price for a good price great battery. The cells aren't matched. That's why it not a true 4000 mah battery. It's a great battery
Joseph  5 points - 3/12/2013

Why am I only getting 3128 MA out of 4000 MA battery ?
 Mr Krinkle 614 points
I would suspect the low voltage cutoff is stopping you from draining it that far. Most battery manufacturers will recommend only draining 80% of the battery, which in this case would be 3200MAh.
 __Izzy 26 points
charging on transmitter has to be adjusted from niMH to lipo and volts to 7.4v.

can this li-po be used for the orange T-six transmitter
 Mr Krinkle 614 points
I don't think so, most people seem to be using the 2S Zippy Compact 850mAh for the OrangeRx T-SIX.

awesome battery.Just charged it at 1.5 amps and took an hour on my turnigy 8150 charger.battery came off at 8.2 volts.when you turn your radio on go to system settings and switch the battery power from nimh to lipo and the radio will adjust the low voltage alarm.HK hit it out of the park with this one,50 dollar savings over spektums battery.

Super produit, et beaucoup, beaucoup moins cher que spektrum qui abuse un peu sur le prix d'un simple lipo 2s. Plus besoin de recharger tous les 4 jours. En passant la radio en mode lipo, la charge se coupe toute seule. Parfait ! Great product, and much, much cheaper than Spektrum abusing a little on the price of a single 2s lipo. No need to recharge every four days. By the way radio lipo mode, charging turns off by itself. Perfect!
