The funny thing I didn't get answer here so I contacted hk customer support an they told me it would work for a plane so I bought it. Waste of money because it won't work!!
Aaron S  55 points - 3/31/2013

Why does this say soft start is in programming . but in review say is not an option? False advertisement ???? Wtf
 winginman 11 points
This ESC only does soft start, this feature not programmable. It's for heli only. Choose one of the fixed wing ESC for your plane.

I"m buying the trunigy d3635/5 for my edge 540 38" wing span will this esc work ok for that thanks for any help

after reading reviews on hobby sites i would suggest going with the Turnigy Plush 60 amp ESC. I know this one is cheap mut on a heli some thing are not good to go cheap on Like Esc. Turnigy is a hobbyking name brand seems to be there upgraded versions of the hobbyking name branded items who knows.

I just got this esc in the mail for my HK450 and ITS HUGE...Is it suppose to be this size or is it meant for a 500 scale heli???
 Wraith0078 7 points
It'll fit. I'm using one on my HK450GT. I stuck it on the lower plate at the front of the frame.

Does this esc come with bullet connectors and battery plug?
 Wraith0078 7 points
Nope. You'll need to solder on bullet connectors and battery connector yourself. It's really easy. There are a few videos on Youtube that'll help if you search for them.
szucsbela  5 points - 11/26/2012

would this work with multi rotor?
 Wraith0078 7 points
You'd need one for each motor, but otherwise, yes.

I used this ESC on my EXI 450 PRO, and it works fine, but one time when I turned off the transmitter while the battery on the Heli was still connected, the ESC turned on the motor to full throttle. Is this an ESC programming issue?
 dwight2k 19 points
Vince: This is not really a program issue. Always disconnect the power from your heli or airplane first before turning off the transmitter.

Is it normal for this ESC to get real hot even if there is no load? I am using it for a turnigy 450/500 H2223 brushless outrunner 4450KV.
 dwight2k 19 points
Vince: Not usually normal for the ESC to get hot but sometimes a lil warm. What size battery are you using and did you run it prior to it starting to get hot. **-Dwight

I am using a 2200 20C 3S battery. No I did not run it prior to it starting to get hot.
 Stephen 61 points
Your battery cannot supply enough current to your esc/motor combo. I would not use less than a 30c for a 2200mah size lipo. Your current lipo can only supply a maximum of 44amps continuously.

Hi I have a problem with this esc, I use this on Hk-450 hely. The problem is: when i switch to idle-up 1 (75% throttle) the motor gain it's speed but when i switch to idle-up2 (95% throttle) the speed doesn't increase and if i return to idle-up1 the speed decrease. So i suppose that the 100% of throttle isn't matched whit 100% on the TX. Any one with my problem??? Stefano
 dwight2k 19 points
I've seen this happen before. Are you using a BEC? If not I recommend it. Next time check to see if your ESC and battery are a little hot. There HK ESCs get hot on high idle.

what programming card will work with this esc?
 Zane 7 points
The Turnigy BESC programing card, look for it under the ESC,UBEC,VR Link.

I am looking into a plane that requires a 20amp brushless speed controller but cant find any in the u.s. warehouse. Is it ok to use an esc rated much higher than whats required?
 pch.radu 67 points
well u can use this but the weight of this would be like twice of that of 20amps. It is a good ESC but it's best for heli use. It has softstart for heli.
ashwin  36 points - 10/30/2011

Also what would make you not recommend this esc. I need one from the USA warehouse
ashwin  36 points - 10/30/2011

I meant to say 2215 h
ashwin  36 points - 10/30/2011

I am also a beginner . I am using the turnigy typhoon with the same kv as sheek a 2215 kv on 4 s. this is my first rc project. I had a turnigy 20 amp that caught on fire. Any advice would be helpful on this or other esc that would work

hi there,i'm biginner .can you help me to choose programming card for this ESC and it will be ok with motor brushless outruner Turnigy H2223 450/500size (#TR2223) . THANKS
 Sheek 49 points
Simon, I have this ESC on my HK450v2 heli with a 2215H motor and it works fine, however I'd recommend spending a little bit more and getting maybe a Turnigy Plush 40A. I run 4 HXT900 servo's and the above motor, and this ESC gets hot while sitting idle. To answer your question, yes it will work but I don't recommend this one unless you're on a very tight budget. Also don't forget 3mm bullet connectors and some heatshrink for this, as it doesn't come with connectors installed.

This ESC is not suitable for planes. Soft start is not programmable like the description says, so there is a 3 second ramp up time when you hit the throttle! This probably works for helis, but DOES NOT WORK FOR PLANES

It's a pretty good ESC for the money. Cheaper than most esc's. I'm using it on a trex 450 clone with a 4s battery. Does get a bit hot, but it works. I don't have equipment to officially test it, but it seems to get the job done.
