The FPVRaptor is an attractive and superbly designed FPV platform with a a host of neat features that make this model one of the best in its class.
For toughness and reliability, the model features a blow moulded fuselage which utilizes Nylon and is virtually indestructable, the flying surfaces are all made from tough EPO foam. From point of view of practicality, the wings are plug in and the model requires no glue for assembly, everything simply screws together. The outer canopy is purely for looks and is used when the FPVRaptor is flown as a glider, it unclips in seconds to reveal a camera ready platform, complete with a pan/tilt servo mounting hole that has been pre-moulded. This large camera platform/wing cover is secured by a quick release latch and once removed, reveals huge canopy area for mounting batteries and FPV equipment onto a pre-fitted ply plate. All servos, motor & ESC are of course pre-installed.
The plug in wings have mouldings for adding flaps if desired and there is also a moulded C of G indicator on the underside of the wing for quick pre-flight checks. There is no doubt that this is a superbly designed, high quality FPV model at an excellent price. It would be fair to say that it is more attractive to look at than most FPV platforms, not to mention much tougher, the FPVRaptor will give the RC Pilot hours of enjoyment for many years to come!
Hi have one of this PNF planes, i'm using a skeptrum 6i controller with a OrangeRx R610 Spektrum DSM2 6Ch 2.4Ghz Receiver, the problem that i have is that the motor dont turn off, when i put the trottle to the middle of more and them when i lower all the stick of the throttle the motor should stop spinning (motor off), but the problem is that the motor dont stop spining, the motor spin at a very low speed, but dont shut down until i disconnect the battery, i have try using the trim of the controller and dont work, the motor keep going and going, like the energizer bunny, so i'm asking for some help, dont have too much experience in this, but i will like to learn.
I get 15-20min on a 2200mah 3S, time varies on wind and aggressiveness. I'd say with 2650mah you are closer to 20min. I'll let someone else chime in on the motor. Love this plane though.
I love this plane. I got it and the build was very simple. Except for the fact that which screws go where is never mentioned in the directions. The first flight was pretty exciting. I threw the plane and it went straight into the ground.Ouch!! I looked at the plane and amazingly everything was fine. Then I gave it full power and it took straight off from tall grass. I never even tried to use the stock esc I just went ahead and replaced it with a 35 amp as soon as I got it. The rest was stock. The only other thing I've replaced is an aileron servo that stripped, but that was because of a crash. The rest of the servos still work fine. I was also surprised by how maneuverable the plane is. One thing to note is that the site says to use a 1800mah battery but i am using a 3000mah all the way forward for correct cg. I Tried to post a review but I couldn't so this is it.
I was thinking the same thing in regards to 3000mah. With my 2200mah I find myself adding some dead weight to get the wing CG to balance. I figure if I'm going to add weight, might make it more battery. This will change when camera will be added of course. Stock motor is suffice, but I see myself making a slight upgrade. Keep me up to date on your progress.
I was thinking of going the next step. I've seen this airplane set up with a 2200mah for the power, and a 1300mah for the FPV gear. I was thinking about using a 4500mah for both- and use a simple low pass filter on the camera. The weight for the 2200 and 1300 together are only about 50 grams less than the 4500 battery. I'll let you all know how it goes...
A great "built" site is over at openpilot****, just type in search box "FPV RAPTOR BUILD", if your a newbee like me it's just what the doctor ordered !!
I've not seen replacement parts anywhere I've even talked to hobby king support. The best I can tell you is to by a Phoenix 2000 Arf for 50 dollars plus shipping
Thank you Tommy2toes, it is good to know. although I did find out that the fusealage on th 2000mm is larger. I did however find a supplier on E-Bay that sells the 2000mm Raptor for $169 as a PnP unit. I purchased it because of the Massive capability difference in the two planes. Not only fort fpv space, but the longer fusealage will be smoother in flight.
id like to compare them side by side. am wondering using the larger wing and the smaller fuse it should be much lighter and so lighter plus larger wing should relly fly a long time and carry a bigger load. i think i am going to get the lager wing to go on mine.
they are the same fit ive seen people get the 2000mm wing and put it on the 1600 fuselodge. no need to make adjustments just fits perfectly! also up the esc for a 2to4s blue series 30amp/3bec esc run 4s.
I have read some bad things about the ESC and servos. Now I would like to buy them in case something happens. Any recommendation ? Should I buy anything else?
what youll want is the hobbyking blue series 30amp/3bec esc.this will give much better preformance and less motor heating up less batterys heating up saves power to fly longer. and i would use blue arrow 8gram servos nothing centers better period and provids more torque than hk like 4$ instead of 3$ worth every penny id pay more
I need some help over here! Does anyone know where I can find good "INSTRUCTIONS" how to build the FpvRaptor? It brought too many screws with it. It does not make any sense. It needs around 18 screws but i have 33 of them in 3 bags. I have not idea where these 33 screws go. I could not even find 4 screws of the same kind for the wings, I only found 3 of the same kind for them. Thanks *)
there is extras yes but the small is 6 servo horns flaps are there too. three large for front of the wing one extra same on back medium on top then flip wing one medum set on bottom.then move to the tail slide both parts on the plane only fits one way this is where you need the flat ended scres for the top of the rudder pointed up the bottom for elevator then whats left use on the motor mount and prop spinner that should do it i think. hope this helps ,tommy
buy the replacment wing for the raven or the bixler those will both work. look in the left top planes?parts scroll all the way down to replacment parts hope that helps you a little remember to give credit if it really does thanks .tommy
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why the price of this keeps flucuating? I ordered this on back order a few weeks ago for $81.65 from the US warehouse. Now they have it listed at $79.77 from the same warehouse.
Goldsworthy, have you received your Raptor yet? If so, how do you like it and how does it fly? I ordered one on the 13th of Dec. but, it's on backorder. I can change my order and get something else but, I wanted to know if it's worth the wait or not, before I did.
What is needed to make the optional flaps work? Do you have to cut anything? and how many servos for the flaps? do I need any thing other than extra servos for the flaps? THANKS!
2 9g servos , 2 control horns , 2 linkages, and 2 clevis or stoppers to connect them hope your up flying with flaps soon if i helped feel free to give credit. thanks tommy
I am initially thinking about buying this plane to make aerial videos with an HD Wing camera or Go Pro. I am worried that the higher rpm of this motor may cause enough vibration to interfere with video recording by causing video distortion. I balance all my props. Has anybody tried HD video recording with this plane?
not yet mine is on the way but on the others i do use i always use the new viberation pads sold here for the new planes orangerx stabilizer. you will find them under planes then scroll down and click stabilization you will see they work for what you want. i am a director producer in my dayjob so i love cameras. hope i could help, give thumbs up and credit if you like the answers thanks, tommy
yes crush a #2 pencil add the super fine crushed graphite to some clear high temp bearing grease and regrease your motor bearings. you clould try the same viberation pads on the mount even with the motor super tight this will help a great deal. i assume this is all for better video? hope this helps , now show us your video when its all done. hope it up soon ,tommy
No problem at all with HD footage. With a few modificatons, this plane can fly over 10 miles out and back, while retaining its aerobatic abilities. Great plane. Check my channel for Raptor videos, user WWXsynflux.
yes the orangerx stabilizer is a 3axis gyro fpr planes. will stabilize alerons ,elevator ,rudder. you can find it under the airplane catogory scroll down to stabilizer click it cost about $15.00 totaly adjustable for more or less on each one! works great! hope i helped you if i did give thumbs up and credit to the best answers ,thanks ,tommy
I am buying this plane today but I have a question. I will be useing a FatShark pan and tilt camera system controlled by my 9X. Is there a good camera mount/ insert that fits this plane>
yes the fatshark pan n tilt. see your looking at a 9gram servo hole precut for you right on the plane front perfect placment. the picture makes it look small but its a big plane. remember to give credit when you like the answers. thanks ,tommy
look to the left click the telemetry&fpv catogory then scroll down to fpv then click the accessorys you will find the pan n tilt mounts and everything else for fpv there. give thumbs up and credit the good answers thanks ,tommy

Hello guys, I need you help, i want to buy this Rc airplane, but i am not sure what i am doing. it says i need this
1)Your Own 4 Channel TX/RX
2)1800mAh 3S Lipoly Battery
3)FPV System.
would i need anything else? for i.e Charger ? ( i do not see it in the list...)
Fist of all:
*whats does tx/rx means? rc controller?
*want to have a better battery . whats is the biggest one i can buy for this rc plane?
*is the "FVP" the same than video cam?
Is this a good rc? Is this one better than the Bixler v1 and v2?
want to make a decision asap. Options
1 Raptor
2 Bixler v1
3 Bixler v2
I really appreciate your help.
yes thats it. it is plug n fly add reciver transmitter a battery add the charger for the 3s battery to make it easy i used the fatshark preditor fpv everything for the fpv is incuded with that system exept a extra battery to run the camera tx. you can power it seperatly or splice it to the planes power source. as for the raptor it is a good plane but if your new i might suggest the more forgiving 1670 skywalker fpv the wing shape always brings the plane back to center and it does have more room and carries more weight but for the money spent i love this raptor! the bixler is great but when the raptor is in theres no compatition the raptor is chosen!
What Hobby king servos are a direct replacement for the factory provided ones? I wish to buy a few extra to replace any defective ones I may get. THANKS
no just need to use the normal battery 11.1v 2200 if that is what your radio uses.can i ask what radio do you have? and i will tell you what battery to use.
esc should power your motor and servos and the planes rx or reciver. yes it is ok to power thoses with your 11.1v 2200mah battery and yes you can include power to the video tx also together just splice into your battery cable.or you can choose to power it seperatly with that 2200 so you dont lose video when your battery gets low somtimes it will kill all power so i do it seperatly and use a 3s 800mah battery is plenty for mine.when splicing wires only one at a time so you dont fry the battery or equiptment! hope this helped if yes give thumbs up and always credit the best answers thanks , tommy
if i use the fatshark with the pan n tilt what battery should i use and keep in mind i use 2s 800 for the fatshark tx to power the fpv system seperatly so i dont lose video can somone help?

The plan was to fly it stock first to get it dialed in...mistake! From the beginning the aileron servo was jittery but I ignored it. I also didn't care for the cheap looking ESC but didn't have a long enough extension to make the battery connection so I left the stock ESC in (mistake #2). I do like the PVC fuse...this thing is tough! I also like the FPV already set up foam cover. The fuse has a ton of room for FPV gear, several batteries, and I love everything is screwed in and removes very easy to access it all. Just behind the prop is a LEVEL area for installing stabilization equ and motor mount can be removed and looks like will take a much larger motor if you wanted. I did replace the plastic cheap clevis with some steal ones that lock and replaced the servo horns with some larger and stronger Du-Bro ones. I was impressed with the stock horns tho...they come with four screws and are pretty strong so I'm sure they would work great too. Like I said this bird has a ton of reenforcing. All the control surfaces have carbon fiber robs except for the rudder and flaps. It has the CG markings burned right into the wings. You don't have to look at it just feel and balance, nice touch.

So replaced servos, ESC with 40amp, CA wing and reenforced with tongue depressors, rebuilt the wing lock cover with wire mesh and epoxy, and took her back out again. This time she flew like a dream. The flaps work so well that I was under half throttle and she stayed in the air no problem. The stock motor has lots of power and can almost go vertical. Even with CG right on the money this bird likes being a little nose heavy. I'm not into 3D loops and all just FPV and this plane is just the right package. Now that she's maidened I'll be putting a paint job on her and setting up the next flight for FPV. The big plus or me is the size. Not Skywalker huge and not Bixler small kinda right in the middle. I can easily load in my daughters VW bug all assembled or disassemble and transport it on my motorcycle. I bet it can even be backpacked. With the strong PVC fuse to protect your FPV gear you can take this bird about anywhere! Ok so now HobbyKing we need the 2 meter version and just the kit no electronics version.
I plan on putting this review and build on RC Groups within a few days. Videos and photos will be included.

Ordered this from Hong Kong and opted for air shipping for a few bucks more. Plane arrived in good condition about a week later due to JIT shipping. Exterior box was damaged but interior was fine. Plane went together in a few hours. I had problems with the decals until I remembered to use windex to apply them. Flew the plane the next day with a full FPV gear (2 Cameras, TX, full Eagletree etc) with 2200 and 1300 mAh pack. Everything stock. So far no problems with stock gear. Even at specified CG it flies slightly nose heavy. If you balance it nose heavy watch out! It flew great! Glides great with power off, easy to land. It will pitch roll a little at the onset of a stall but lowering the nose slightly gets it flying again. A little power on makes for nice soft landing. Could not get it to ROG at that weight so a hand launch is required. I also noticed forward pitch @ full power. If you trim it out you will have to retrim with power off. I got a lot of compliments on it. It is a great PFV platform

Plane itself is great. Lots of reinforcement and PVC fuselage is very tough. It is very underpowered. It will not ROG with the stock motor and stock weight. It was so underpowered, I would not try and fly it and this is with NO FPV gear in it. Buy it, replace motor/esc/servos and you are good to go.

I bought this plane from the USA warehouse, I made a rookie mistake on the maiden and forgot to check aileron orientation and it came down hard from about 30 feet. The plane survived amazing only broke the locking part of the Hatch. and I was able to take off from the grass on the belly. I felt the stock power was "ok" It moves along very nicely once in the air. It does like to fly a bit nose heavy. The Cg markings were great touch. I flew with all my camera gear. I used a 5850mah 3s for flight pack and a 3s 1000 for the gear. It did amazing on the second flight and a nice hard hand launch. I flew for about 11 mins at half throttle the wind didnt bother me much. I will be using a larger battery for the onboard equiptment though. flight pack came down at 11.6v and the control battery was 11.31. Cant wait to put my dragon OSD and do some more FPV. Im Hooked and im glad I bought this plane for it. Check your Clevis and maybe upgrade to better ones the suppllied ones were weak and 2 were broken before installation. Overal its one of my new favorite planes. I will eventually upgrade the power system to somethine with more power.
