An excellent parkflyer sized EDF foamie made from well moulded and crash resistant (EPO) foam, the Mirage EDF jet comes plug and fly ready right out of the box and will take you around 45 minutes to set up. Included is a 20A ESC and small yet powerful 50mm brushless ducted fan system, plus all servos are pre installed so all you only need to add is your own receiver to complete this model.
building the model now,
but i have a question about where to place the esc, can it be inside the cockpit, or is it better to place it inside the duct for cooling? i cannot find a clear answer inside the manual
I use a flight stabilizer on mine and have no trouble. without a stabilizer, your elevons have to be perfectly trimmed or it will roll over and crash before you know what happened.
With an EDF, launch full throttle into the wind with an easy level toss (like you're throwing a football to a 10 year old) don't throw it with a nose up attitude or you will likely tip stall and crash.
It helps to have a friend launch it for you so you can concentrate on the controls. If you have to launch it you self, keep you thumb on the elevon control and launch with the other hand (even if it is your non-dominant hand) You have to be quick to keep it level and out of the dirt. also don't climb right away try to keep it level for the first 3-4 seconds to build up a little air speed. Best of luck!
have done it - not in this mirage but in a f-22.
works great ... but the adf50-300l 5800 is not a
high-quality product: the motor is glued in to the
housing! - no screws ... has strong vibrations at
low throttle - but runs smooth on full throttle.
got only 340gr static with 29A ...
in the jas-39 i will put a wemotec-micro with a
het 240-15-6000. This setup takes 26A static and
will offer much more topspeed ...
Use a dualsky 3012 30A esc.
The orientation comment was humor! However a guy on RCGROUPS has already confirmed that his Mirage came with only one side with a decal applied.
No big deal but something that could be fixed easily.
Okay *)
Regarding that statement: If the intakes are larger than 100% FSA the one with the largest intakes will accelerate faster, but top speed will most likely be slower due to drag of the larger intakes.
I wonder if we could do an intake mod on the JAS like my mate did on his little 50mm Hawk. He cut them down to scale. Mirage & Gripen are both very secksy.
what about the one with the bettersetup for power, i think thats what counts and the desighn of the jet, every jet is differant intakes and thrust tube plays a major factor.
Not true. If you can fly a low wing warbird then with the rates turned down this shouldnt be a problem at all. Just fly it stock and keep it light and it will float. Look at the massive wing area. Delta wings are stable anyway.
That's what I'm going to do - strip out the ESC and motor. This will be my first WeMo and HET motor combo 50mm jet. Can't wait!
Pity HK didn't get that new aluminium 50mm EDF out yet, I would have bought one of those too. :)
I can't believe HK credited $anta for his answer, that's taking the preverbials. Great, buy an overpriced HK model with its cheap electrics and replace it all with new better HK electrics. Win win for HK not so for the customer. Not a bad looking micro EDF jet, I just hate the cramped battery/receiver compartment in this 35mm EDF range.
I just realised its a larger 50mm jet. Interested to see how well the 850mAh 3S Nanotech battery will fit. Got to say it does look quite a good, delta winged plane. But my upgraded Parkjet is more fun and faster than the EDF.
I did see the irony in $ants's comment, I don't understand the credit system. But anyway, we should be talking about the plane, it'll be interesting to see a review. Thx for the replies.
Hobbyking will there be spare airframes avalible ? , just crashed a Mig 15 with a Dons Wicked setup and would prefer a different airframe second time round. I Bought the Mig 15 airframe too.
Yes, I am also waiting for the airframe kit, because mine came totally bent , and I don´*t know if it will fly, I just opened all the fuselage and fix it with my hands, but it don´*t get totally fixed, but I will try to fly this weekend.
FYI The HK A-10s are also sold by hobby lobby in the usa They have sold spare parts for two years but only ship to usa HK stocked this plane for three years and got NO Parts At ALL
After seeing other companies offer the parts for sale and 12 dispointments from HK i decided i will not buy any plane unless the spares are already stocked I therefore did not buy
Spitfire MkIX 1200mm (PNF) (AUS Warehouse) P-51D Monster Mustang 1.55m 6Ch XL-EPO-61inch P-51D Mustang 1.4m EPO (PNF) Durafly P-51D Mustang w/flaps/retracts/lights 1100mm (PNF or a third Dynam Meteor 70mm
I did buy 2 of these P-51D Mustang 1.2m EPO with Auto Canopy (ARF *JIT-Item 3-5 days to dispatch because there were parts avail (i bought the horisontal stab and rudder before i purchased the plane)
The lack of spare parts availability has cost HK nearly a thousand dollars worth of new plane sales and at least five hundred dollars worth of spare part sales JUST FROM ME.

This plane is really good, great! Flies very well with no issues. The c/g is right in the manual at 100 mm. The paint is durable, it goes together rather quickly. I suggest using AB epoxy for the wings and the tail section. One thing to note is read the instructions! There is a part that shows the Evelons from a rear view, I missed this and the plane will not fly without a 6-7 mm increase on the control surfaces. I destroyed my plane as it will nose full in with full elevator up without doing this. After being frustrated, I took a breather and read it again. Noticed my mistake and it is great now! It flies on rails and floats right home. Thanks HK for bringing this out!

Well, I am a little mad with my Mirage, it arrived totally bent, the vertical stabilizer, the wing, the nose, the underbelly, the inlets, and also the exhaust (sorry I don´t know how it is named).
I already ask some help to HobbyKing, but two days later and there is no answer. I can´t return the plane because the shipping cost here in Brazil to send it to HK is really, really expensive, so I think that I will be with the prejudice.
I will try to fly it at this weekend, but, I don´t know if it will fly, but If so I will let you know.
Also, I will put the 6mm of reflex too.

This plane is a realy fake with the original setup. It's impossible to startup flying also with the GC ok and elevator all up! I modified it with 4Cell motor a 60A Esc and a 64mm fan unit and now it has a good performance. You must work hard if you wont flying whit it.

6mm up elevon at least. Even then with an 850Mah battery, you are flying a basic routine of rolls and turns. Not able to loop, and no inverted capability. Suggest using a lighter battery. Stable plane but the fact that you need so much up trim tells you that you are getting what you pay for.

This plane looks greats but hardly flys. At first I thought it would never fly and almost gave up. It took me a while to figure out that with massive amounts of up trim on both ailervators it will fly, but not without struggling (by massive I mean more than 45 degrees of deflection). I made a modification that helps a lot - I made 2 little wings and stuck them on the sides of the nose angled up about 20 degrees. This lifted the nose enough when underway to let the plane fly and still leaving a little upwards travel on the ailervators. There is nothing wrong with the quality of the kit or the components and for that reason I give is 5 stars for value and quality. If it flew well I would give it 5 stars all the way.
