Do you feel the need for speed? The Hobbyking Viperjet is a true, fully aerobatic speed machine with stunning good looks to match it's performance. The 70mm version has been a massive hit and rightly so, this amazing 90mm version is sure to be just as popular. The bare airframe is lightweight, so anything from 6s up is going to give you an amazingly cheap 90mm sport jet, certainly nothing in this class looks this good and fly's so well for so little money.
The Viperjet's superbly painted composite fuselage and matching pre-applied covering make for one good looking model, combine it's looks & speed with the Viperjets amazing precision aerobatic ability and you have one of the most exciting EDF jet's in it's class at a price you can afford. This gorgeous looking model is also well behaved at lower speed courtesy of the pre-installed split flaps and of course the "winglets" which provide lift, right down to the slowest of speeds, meaning a greatly reduced stall speed and excellent flying manners.
A full hard-ware kit, performance 90mm fan unit and fixed landing gear are included, retracts can be installed of course with a little work. The large canopy area gives you plenty of options for Lipoly batteries, ranging from 6s right up to 10s for the real speed freaks!
Features: Fully pre-painted & covered Removable Fan Cover Landing gear ply mounts pre-fitted if you choose to fit the included landing gear All Hardware included
Requires: Your Own 6 Channel RX/TX 36mm EDF inrunner or outrunner motor (1200w Min) 80A~150A OPTO ESC 8~9 Metal Gear, High Torque Micro/Mini Servo's 6s 4500mAh (Minimum) UBEC
My Viper arrived 10 days ago and the cockpit canopy was broken. I immedaitely asked for a replacement and got no response. I'm begiining to think HK don't care?
What is the real flying weight of this model. 3KG limit seems very low for something you might put a decent propulsion system in with retracts. My model is weighing in at roughly 4KG with no retracts. Jet Teng from which I believe this model is copied states projected flying weight of 4-5KG which makes sense. 3KG limt indicates a light weight propulsion system and battery pack, likely would produce only 2KG static thrust with no retracts for a 5 min flight. That seems a poor ratio for something that is expected to perform. My glider has a better ratio of power to weight. Whats the story HK? This thing seems to be glider disguised as a high performance edf jet under these stringent weight constraints.
Can some one give tell me what the cockpit fuselage dimensions are?
I need the depth from the top of the canopy to the bottom & also the widest width of the out side of the fuselage .
I want to use the fuselage as a base for a streamliner boat hull.
yes . no joke > submarine . and do you want to know how . just add this to water ,when its ready to fly . and there is your Boat ,w water jet . it acctualy works in water . thats the scary part/./!
thanks Yenny .Hows your work going . nice to meet you . im flat out settin up my sola energy system. doing my part for the Natures concervation , so many panels in setting up can get me power id emagine its goning to take me a few week to install it all . thanks for your time hava a good fights .bye
Would anyone who has one of these care to give the parts list they purchased with the kit (especially motor selection), and any issues they had in the construction? Are there any parts missing that we need to fabricate ourselves for example? Does it fly well? Have you tried it with 8s lipo's?
Andy, Read on, as well as international site, lots of ideas and build details, also look up, RC Groups search under 90mm Viperjet from Hobbyking has over 30 pages of input from modellers building this exciting ViperJet, get one you won't be disappointed.
w w w . e c a l c . c h My choice, changesun 12blade and leopard 4092/1390kv/8S (VERY tight fit though). esc is YEP120A hv(do NOT forget programmingcard) .No other issues, it came together very easily. buy GOOD servos though, you will not be able to replace them easily..
Just arrived at Aus warehouse, ordered mine, can't waite to see this jet, and get it flying is going to be awsome, then all the build discussion can really start.
Come on HK we should be fitting a turbine to this jet, release some data please, to do it justice, JUST LOVE THE SMELL OF KEROSINE IN THE MORNING, well thats nice.
kewood,im sure you could put a p-20 turbine in the viper cost you around $2500us,but i dare say, with the right electric setup, the turbine will get left behind!would sound the goods with the p-20 in this ship thoughwould love to see and hear it myself.
Hello justice, yes agree, but will wait for the HK turbine release the New Products reviews they will be under $1000, more affordable for my budget, will run with a consertive EDF first to maiden, I do not want high speed, but love the smell and sound of a turbine, the 50 Hours run life prior to turbine rebuild is going to be intresting, this is going to be a very exciting build.
I wish I'd held off now but I've been waiting for my 70mm one I paid for for many months and I wasn't game to risk the same thing with this one and snapped one up the moment they came out at the inter site. Who'd a thunk they'd be able to keep stock coming so freely with this one while I've been waiting forever for my 70mm. I've gotta say if you get one of these you wont be dissapointed with the quality finish or oveall looks, they are absolutely beutifull
Yeah I got the 70mm, not airbourne yet and it will be heavy 2.5kg and need at least 1500 watts to be impressive. Would have held out for this if I knew it was coming......only 200mm difference in wingspan to the 70mm!!!
johnp it never ends. I was sure they couldn't tempt me with anything new but that Tucano is very tempting, especialy at that size and I realy like the Nemesis Racer. Plus there's a version 3 Edge 540 coming that I've been in love with since I saw the video of it and it's going to be a must have when it comes out. Somebody PLEASE stop me !
We definately need something along the lines of AA for modelers. I've already got way more than I can break in the next 5 years but they just keep coming out with newer, better, faster, smaller or bigger or more unique things to tempt me all the time, and I do love all my nifty new toys.
hey grego, the e-flite habu is actully built for up to 90mm fan,e-flite just recommend there own gear.though i doubt that this EDF jet will be as quick as the e-flite habu! great looking jet though!
lol..Here we go..:) This plane is going to kick some serious Habu ass. Even in the real world(talking snakes) the Viper is far more dangerous than that Garden snake call the Habu..LOL
my LHS(Singapore) is reselling this viper at US220 which they ordered from hk with merchant price that is even lower than platinum member..for your info VETTSTER,i'm not paying 5 times more..as for GREGO, i never believe in overprice rc stuff like habu or eflite edf etc..
Why are you even here commenting Mohamad? The only prices that concern you are the international site and that LHS. You can't buy this here. For us that can it works out a great deal. Go away
Sorry but i have to disagree... not about the name, yes Viper sounds better, but Habu is more original i think) anyway, the Habu 32 Finishings are way better and the airframe is more streamlined, yet this one is on my list also, so don't get me wrong ... and about the price of the Habu 32 "overpriced" ??? lets count... paying 299USD in a local shop, compared to 212 shipping 30 some USD import tax another 50 some USD... if i count them up... 299 - 292 ... are we really muzzing about 7 dollars here ??? COM'ON guys :D I'd prefer the Habu for sure above this one for 7 dollars or less difference :) yet, i need one of these also, just a habbit as Hobbyking-addict :) I agree it looks nice and perfect (if you don't zoom in) :) anyway, we'll see how long they will last in my show-off hands hé*hé*... another addiction, find the limits... about the speed ... I got myself a nice metal EDF with 4.2 kg thrust for it (90mm 9-cel) wooooow :) will upload pics and video later on :) chears, and keep up the speed
Wim. For starters you're in Thailand so you'd be buying this from the international site where it's substantialy cheaper, not here from the Australian warehouse. Now about the finish. You said "I agree it looks nice and perfect (if you don't zoom in)". I have this plane sitting in front of me and can assure you the finish just could not be better, it's as perfect as I've ever seen. The pictures don't do it justice so zoom as much as you like because any flaw you think you can see simply isn't there.
Sawdust, I have to agree, just received mine from the NSW store and its perfect. I have a Stumax 90-45 ready to go in her, should sound as good as she looks
Sorry johnp, I meant to give you a thumbs up and hit the report button by mistake. Administration, please ignore that reporting! Glad yours arrived in good condition johnp. I took just the fuse with canopy on out to the flying field on sunday and even a couple of blokes who aren't exactly keen on hobbyking quality had to admit they were very impressed with it
HaHa, no problem, had worse done to me. I wasn't paying attention when I ordered the Viper and just noticed HK do a scale cockpit for it, so have ordered that as well, should finish it off nicely. I have the same dilemma as others now, of whether to just bungee launch or fit retracts

Mine arrived today, unpacked well packaged double boxed, no damage I could see, those that have ordered will be pleasantly suprised by the quality of this ViperJet, it is truley a wonderful exciting model, my plan is to think and plan very carefully prior to build, the wing is not suitable for retracts, to thin an area to make them neat, the ones I have are 28mm deep, the wing tapers from 22mm to 18mm is a pity, looks like I am going to have to Learn to Bungie Lauch and to build one at least, no plans to practise this with the viper.

EXCELLENT PLANE.
I am very happy with the price and quality of it. I have downloaded the instructions but dont really need them. Its a straight forward build.
The thing is BIG, which is cool. I plan on running it on 8s or even 10s. I think its better to be over powered then under!
Mine did not come with a thrust tube, I am not sure what to use but I will work it out. 5/5 for this plane.
I hope there will be spares, I need a canopy.

This plane looks great & flies great
The CG on mine is 110mm from the L/E.
I fly mine on 8s, the biggest issue with is the wings & tail paint job.
they are painted over normal covering, so the moment you try to cut anything or do anything with them the paint come off.
