ZIPPY Flightmax 2500mAh Transmitter Pack (Futaba/JR) (USA Warehouse)

Zippy Flightmax batteries deliver full capacity & discharge as well as being the best value batteries in the hobby market today! The Zippy Flightmax 2500mAh Transmitter pack fits snuggly into any Futaba or Jr radio which takes a 4x4 AA cell battery configuration (see image). With a capacity of 2500mAh this lipoly replacement for your old NiCD or NiMH will last four to five times longer. Probably the best advantage with a lipoly transmitter battery is that it will give a true voltage reading from start to finish which means you can say goodbye to the days where you thought your Transmitter was fully charged at home, only to find the voltage drop off rapidly when at the field. Does it fit into tg 9x?
 Aaron S 53 points
It does fit but I had to swap plugs with one that came with the tx
 chanyote66 60 points
The Servo plug will connect directly into the TH9x, Iv been using mine like that for over a year now...

some tell me why i can not charge this battey with the stock wall charger so that i understand. thanks
 chanyote66 60 points
Lipos require more care when charging than regular rechargable AA batteries. The cells must be balanced or they can over/under-volt and blow up... The standard charger port does not regulate the voltage to each cell like a Lipo charger does.

This Zippy works with the Turnigy 9x without modification. Use the smaller white plug and insert it into the right side of the TX power connector so the red wire is in the middle/ black is to the right. I put a little tape around the wires so they stay together. "Like a glove" target=_blank>Zippy with 9x

Does this battery fit into the 9x? The black servo plug sticks out too much and the small white plug is the wrong polarity.
 Gary 2962 points
If you click on the "Files"tab on the Turnigy 9X Mode 1 page and look at the manual (Turnigy 9X 2.4g Review and Instructions) it does recommend this battery so it should fit ok.
 Andrew 2 points
I just can't seem to make it fit without modifying the cable. Here is a pic of the black plug installed. *******imgur****/Ivfft See how it sticks out?
 Gary 2962 points
Sorry, picture details did not come through.

I ended up snipping the jst-xh connector on the turnigy 9x so the small white connector on the battery could fit with the right polarity. I almost broke of the battery connector on the turnigy 9x though.

I used the black (servo type) plug at first but I was afraid it would damage my battery or I would accidently reverse the polarity. What I was replace the little white connector with the one from the original battery holder. the wires held ok. To be safe I used a little hot glue on the back of the connector. All is good. I had it almost a year now.

How do I charge this battery? Is there an adapter plug? I have a LiPo charger with a Deans connector on it, and a balance plug.
 pepperpod 67 points
you can charge through the blance plug for this battery. If your charger does not have the right connector you can look under battery chargers and accessories on this site to find the correct one.
 Gohmer 29 points
If your charger needs both the balance and power leads connected to it to work you need one of www.link the connector from a wall charger soldered to a female deans. Then plug it into the transmitter charge port. Be sure to get the polarity correct.
 CrashAce 797 points
Yeah, look on the picture and it's clear. 3S balance plug, and for power a servo type plug.

Will this fit my Futaba 7Cap Transmitter and can you charge it with original wall charger or do you have to use special charger..
srt8madness  46 points - 2/2/2012

Could you put an xt60 on this and run it in an airplane? It is much smaller than all the other batteries of similar mah. I need the power and the space saving, weight isn't an issue.

Thanks.
 blur95 1 points
Unfortunately, no, unless you have a very low power motor. It is only rated at 3C discharge, so 7.5A is the highest you can safely draw from it continuously.
 pilotavery 131 points
Haha... 7.5A is the same that 4 servos draw at max usage :)

Picked up one of these for my Turnigy 9x, fits perfectly in the battery bay. All cells balanced at 3.8v upon arrival. Holds a charge forever in my Tx. Only con is that I had to change the plug to fit the 9x.

Great Battery!!! Actual weight is 235 grams. I used this one with my quad multicopter. Outside, with temperature -5C to 15 C.
No problems at all, balancer shows 2450 mAh capacity.
Hopely some day batteries with this capacity will be lighter.
Lighter battery - more fly time.

Great pack for a Turnigy 9x, fits perfectly in the bay with enough room to tuck the balance/charge plugs to one side.

There's no need to switch the connector either! The black connector fits on to the existing pins without requiring any modifications, just match up the orientation using the color of the wires on the 8x AA pack (so that red connects to the ve and black fits to -ve).

The battery seems to last forever too! Good bye Duracells!!!
