Would anyone happen to know what servo arms will fit the stock PNF AXN servo's I have 4 or 5 different arms here and none of them fit.

wow, this is a long wishlist for a first plane. I would suggest for you to take your questions to the HK forum (link at top of page) and look for the topic 'Floater Jet' in the discussion forum, lotsa seasoned floater jet owners there. also check out 'rcreviews floater jet' on youtube, he does a good job with assembly, go for the 3 part video.
use an 1800 Mah battery and 3m extreme strapping tape to reinforce the leading edge and where the wing spar is located. keep everything else stock including the hinges. the nose will only break easily after you nose dive it a couple times. also put a layer of fiberglass tape on the bottom. i would also recommend the turnigy 9x.
Great choice for your first plane! just go easy on the throttle, as the speed can be a little intense for a newb. (50 mph, 70 down wind) RCgroups has a 100 page blog on this very popular plane. You should be able to find more info than you want.
Bryan thanks and very useful. I am told there is no RTF version. Only ARF so I must buy a radio rec. and the Turnigy 9x is on back order in the US warehouse. I will look up the other items you mention. I live in Argentina far awayt but have a US address.
You can go with either Turnigy 9x, or 9xr. if those are on backorder, you can always go with a Orange radio, I have 2 and they work awesome. If your on a budget, the hobbyking 6Ch 2.4Ghz radios are great. got one for my dad and it works perfect for line of sight flying at the local park. Good luck

Depends if your ordering the RTF or ARF versions. If your ordering the RTF version, it has all you need to get up in the air. ARF version will require a radio with receiver, as well as some Lipos and a Lipo charger. So not sure your budget, but for radios, depending on how far you want to fly, or if your going to do FPV, I would recommend Turnigy 9x or 9xr radio. For batteries I would go with Turnigy nano tech's and for this plan get the 2200mAh 3S 25C batteries. Will give you long flight times. Then you need a charger, so you could go with like the Accucel 6A charger which is nice and cheap and basic. Dont have time to list part numbers, but you can search for that stuff. BTW, I have this plane and its pretty sweet in the air!
Just got my Floater, looking sharp and can,t wait to fly.
One thing is that I would of wished that their instruction manual, would of went a little more detail on mounting the prop.

the stock set up is a prop saver, find an adapter ring that centers over the prop saver, insert it into the prop and add a small drop of CA, take the o-ring and loop it over one of the screws, set the prop in place and stretch the o-ring over the other screw. The writing on the prop needs to face forward. A better solution is to order PRODUCT ID: GON-D3T6 with your next order. Happy Flying

I did. Its the only way i could get a 3s 2200mah to fit and not get stabbed by the rods. Works fine and its still a tight fit but it wont be an issue unless you changed the holes in the horn or moved the servos forward.
I removed the pushrods and reinstalled them backwards. The z-bend is now at the servos and the adjustable connector is at the control surfaces. This still leaves about 1/2" (12mm) of excess rod sticking out. I will probably cut all but a 1/8" (3mm) off. this setup allows me to more surface deflection and the ability to change it in the future. It would be a good idea to remove some of the excess so they do not puncture the battery on a bad landing, or a crash.
On my servo arms there was one hole left out on the end of the arm. They drilled the second hole for the pushrod conectors. The hole was the right size for the 1mm pushrods. Make sure you use some loctite on the connectors so they do not vibrate loose in flight. To reinsert the pushrods from the opposite direction I had to push down on the pushrod tubes through the cooling port under the motor. I used the wing spar to do that. The end of that tube is a pretty small hole to hit so be patient!
The c rating on a battery is how fast it can discharge. This means that you can use any battery that has a c rating greater than or equal to the c rating required by the motor and esc.
in this planes manual it says battery 1300-1500mah 3s to be used if you get this plane and get a larger one not that cog/center of gravity is changed significantly and needs counter weighted even if using the suggested battery of manual cog is very important ok thats all for now

Get a cheap rc simulator. They sell them on here and other online retailers for around $25 with a controller that looks like a real transmitter. Practicing with this will help you learn faster and save you hundreds of dollars in repairs.
I bought the "Real Flight Basic" setup for $99 at a hobby store. It really will help you! you can shoot landings time after time until you get them right. I wish I had bought a simulator years ago when I was starting out! search for the "rcmodelreviews" video on launching your AXN it helps. I find I need full up elevator for about the first 20 to 30 feet after launch, that is with 60% throttle. do not launch at full throttle or you are headed for the ground. Once you can let off the elevator then you can throttle up for a good climb rate. The plane will nose dive everytime you throttle it to full power.
Make sure your Transmitter is turned on BEFORE you plug the battery into your plane and your throttle stick is down. If you still have the beeping (this is telling you what your brake setting is, 1 beep, three times means the brake is off) You may need to reverse your throttle channel at your radio! search for "align_rce-bl15x_esc_manual" this explains the beeps and how to change the settings for your ESC. Also there is a better manual for the floater jet. search for "BMI_Arrow_manual_version_B"
Problems with my AXN. I ordered the PNF AXN and went to assemble it today and plugged in the ESC to the RX turned on the power and the motor wont spin. I keep getting these beeps it will beep 3 times first then start beeping up to six beeps and then makes this assending and decending sound. I dont know if that means my motor or ESC is bad or what the hell it means. Im new to all this stuff and dont know what i need to fix it.
well i got the motor to spin finally but now when i start the throttle up it starts out very slowly then gradually speeds up till it tops out. Is this normal for this motor or is somtehing wrong.
Sounds like your esc needs to be reset / reprogrammed. I'm guessing that when you originally plugged in the battery, your throttle was not all the way down. This is usually the way we program our esc's. Each different tone represents a different menu option (brake on, low voltage cutoff, timing, etc). Most likely, you have accidentally changed one or more of the settings..and they will need to be reset.
There is an esc manual in the files tab. It's kind of confusing, so read through it several times before doing anything. It's better if you have someone with you who has programmed an esc before, but not absolutely necessary.

Prop Direction? Being that the motor is facing backwards, I would think that the prop should be mounted backwards on the motor so it is rotating the way it looks like it was intended to go. Unfortunately, this put the prop centering ring towards the rear of the plane, so it can simply fall out. Are you supposed to mount the prop on the motor just as you would on a forward facing motor? Wouldn't that mess with the props efficiency
The prop should face forwards as if it was on the front of the plane,the motor then turns clockwise looking from the rear of the plane,it will then work perfectly.
If you're using the prop saver supplied with the plane, put a drop of CA on the centering ring to keep it in place, otherwise it will fall out. A better solution is to order a prop adapter, PRODUCT ID: GON-D3T6 should do the trick.
you shouldn't have to upgrade the stock 25 amp ESC... I used a 4S 2200 mAh. After 45 min in the air I only used about 50% of the capacity. With 3S 2200 mAh 40 min at through 75% of the capacity.
You can certainly upgrade the lipo for more flight time. Be sure to re-balance the plane after you install the new battery. The plane should balance with your fingers placed right under the wing support rods.
There is no need to upgrade the ESC. It performs well under maximum capacity considering the motor it is driving.
Guys, is it possible to tie in the ailerons with the rudder? I believe they call that mixing. Is that a good idea for this type of plane, and if so how does one do that? thanks very much and the best answer will be acknowledged.
It is possible, but it is done on your TX (remote). Some people use it to assist with barrel rolls but I think it breaks down to personal preference. If you are going to take the time to do something more than the standard 4 channels... hook the ailerons up on separate channels (allows you to use them as flaps).
Hi guys I have two small questions. Since I'm an experienced DIY'er but completely new to the RC world, I want to ask what else do I have to buy for this plane in order to get it flying. I read that it needs an RX/TX and a battery.
What I found was:
- Hobby King 2.4Ghz 4Ch Tx & Rx V2 (Mode 2): Kit
- Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 25C Lipo Pack
So that's it, it will get me flying right?
Another question: If I will buy the 4Ch Tx & Rx V2 Kit will I be able to trigger something else in flight such as igniting a smoke grenade? I mean it's the matter of "triggering" then I will use and Arduino UNO to manipulate the trigger signal.

yes the 4ch radio would work but I would recommend the 6ch because then you will be able to trigger things with the other two channels. that battery will work but you will need to look into getting a battery charger if you do not have one. also you can look at rcmodelreviews on youtube he has great info on this plane and also has an awesome build video for it.
there is two big sims either phoenix or realflight generally you buy one of those it will have everything you need there are other cheaper ones like FMS its ok but you will either need to get a cable to hook you transmitter to your computer or buy one made for sims. there are many others to you can google it and find different ones. also if you have a smart phone you can look on there for flight sims there is a real good one called absolute rc plane simulator it works really well for a phone
Yes it will. You would need to replace both the ESC and motor to use that battery safely. With that said, if you are going to throw away the stock motor/esc... throw the 6S in there and see how long it lasts! I bet that if you only ran the motor for 15 seconds at a time with a cool down of a min or two... you could fly that set up a couple times before something gave out. The down side is that your ESC might catch on fire.
Very new at this. I just received my Clouds Fly plane.
After a lot of guessing, I think I hooked up almost everything.
My question: How do I attach the propeller?
The motor has a prop saver attached to it, place the prop over the shaft and against the prop saver, use the o-ring supplied loop over one screw then stretch it over the prop and loop it over the other screw.
There are some cheap routes for a TX/RX combo... pony up and buy one of the ones that you can buy replacement parts for. It sounds like it is more expensive but in the long run you will save money.
apart from checking for voltage as previously mentioned, you can try a different esc or dif receiver if you have one. you have a crashed plane? does the battery and receiver work with those electronics?
what receiver and transmitter are you using? a r610 receiver won't flash if it is not bound to the tx. use a voltmeter test the battery, should be around 11.1v (3 cell). plug the battery to the esc, use voltmeter at plug that goes to rx, black and red wires should be 5v. plug into rx, test across the other power pins of rx, should have 5v.
I just got this plane, but when I plug in the battery why the led light on receiver not on. Motor & servo not working. Is it ESC problem or receiver/transmitter problem? Thanks.
wow, could be lots of things. Is the battery ok, test with vom. Are the connections between batter/esc/receiver all solid. Are the connections to the receiver the correct polarity. When troubleshooting it is an advantage to have an extra esc or receiver to prove the trouble into one or the other.
I made a small mount for it(out of foam[about 1/4 inch tall]). It fits behind the battery and in front of the servos. Prior to flying run the servos to their full throw to make sure the push rods will not hit your stabilizer in flight. Keep in mind that the direction you put the stabilizer in is important too.

I have to say this is one of my best airplanes. It can fly very fast, very long, and is difficult to tip stall. It also glides forever. I mixed in flaperons for slowing it down for landing. I fly with a 2200mah and it balances perfectly. I was even to land without an elevator (my fault, I didn't secure a servo arm properly) I also use this model for FPV.

Great value. I've been flying this plane more than any other plane I own. Easy to carry, easy to fly, goes pretty fast at full power. Extremely economical. Recommend 2.2 3 cell. Reinforce wings if you are going to pull lot of G in dives or snaps. I have 2 spars in the wings. Glides well.Couldn't use it for FPV but I see others did. Anyway, great buy!

Out of the box new when opened the Motor does not work. I am not sure if it's the ESC or Motor but checked the settings and everything were all OK. The motor will not run, when the throttle is increased I am getting only maybe 3 turns in the motor then stopped. I've read reviews on this particular model and it seems there's a quality issue. To the buyers out there, I suggest buying just the basic airplane without the electronics and buy the electronics including the motor separately. Now I have to spend so much cost in shipping the entire box back to Hobby King.

Just received plane 2 days after ordered it! All parts there, high quality, included a 25 amp ESC & motor has awesome power for this 400 g plane! See many youtube videos of it on xjet channel. What a hoot ! novice to intermediate level
Upon arrival assembly was easy. Initially control surfaces did not move freely. Unhook the servos linkage and carefully flex the control surfaces to free them up make sure the moved freely through the range of motion.
Just gave away my slightly broken balsa glider as this thing is nearly a glider. If you use as a glider, limit the elevator movement and you can get some amazing hang time.
Very resilient. I've nosed it in several times and walked away with little more than a 1 minute glue gun repair. If you get in trouble just pull the throttle back. I use a cloth tape to hold the wings wings so every thing has a little give upon impact. Re tape as needed. Not like I'm seeking impact, but things happen. Yes, you eventually have to try some aero or a high speed low level pass or loose perspective in the distance.
Especially fun off of the snow. Made dozens of take offs and landings from a variety of snow conditions and even some dried grass areas. Dual rate for a little more elevator upon takeoff vs flight may help.
Hand launching suggest a 15-20 degree upward angle from a hand under the CG ( basically under the wing ).
Also switching from 5X5 prop to 6X4 makes it launch better and it climbs better. And can fly really fast if you get on the throttle. After you get in the air remember to throttle down if you are a
