Tengo un C 160 coloque dos baterias 3 celdas DE 3300, pero el avion no alza vuelo. ¿*que puede suceder??
Richard  1 points - 4/3/2013

On the battery size, 3 cell 3600, 40 esc. Will fly like a dream
Richard  1 points - 4/3/2013

I see there are a lot of questions concerning the C-160. Maybe this will help! The B-25 has the counter rotating engines KV 1000. Perfect size for this plane. You can also use the 9x6.5 Prop from the B-25 with one rotating clockwise the othe counter clockwise. This will take care of your power problem

I just recieved this kit. Nice finish work, it looks great!

Pejay, is this the motor that you use? How well does it fit, what props did you use and what battery, amps?

Why the two flight packs? why not just a single 4500mah pack?.
Wish the manual was available for download
 Kellyann 16220 points
Mark in Aus yes a manual would be good. The to battery are for the two Esc and two motor. The one large battery will not fit.

Mark in Aus I asked pejay to up load the manual. he has done that now and it is under the "FILES" tab above NOW. I hope this helps.
 Mark in Aus 960 points
Thanks so much. Well done to all
 Celso 1 points
Hi, I didn´*t receive the manual. Could you send me a link to the download ? I didn´*t find in the file too. Tks.

It is strange why this plane is $20 more expensive than the yellow/white C-160 version. Specs are the same but this more expensive version has a few more items like a photo manual, water slide decals and full hardware whatever that means. And why can we not get info on max propeller size? It has a limit since a too large prop will hit the body
 Kellyann 16220 points
pejay yes I know it is not fair. But I would rather have this color than the yellow one. Also good call on the prop size. Also do not forget the counter rotating props also. THANKS
 pejay 548 points
I agree this color is nicer and I have ordered it. Will let you know what prop size it can take and indeed I know that they should be counter rotationg. It is still very strange that we are not told about max prop size by HK - all they need to do is to take it out of the box and measure it - a matter of a few minutes work. And I think props should be 3-blades so why is a 2-blade spinner recommended?
 Kellyann 16220 points
pejay yes right. So when you review her please make sure you let us know. Thanks again
 pejay 548 points
Sure will let you know prop size when box arrives
 pejay 548 points
Just received the plane. Very, very nice indeed. The distance from motor center to nearest body part which is the wheel cover, is 100 mm or 4 inch so max prop is 8 inch. There is an OK manual I think but it says propeller 9 x 6E which will not work. I bought NTM propdrive 3542/1250KV - as recommended here but it seems to be an overkill as it needs a bigger prop. A review say 10 x 7 prop on 3S will give 503Watt. But guess I will try this motor with 4S
 Kellyann 16220 points
pejay thank you. Now there is one more thing I will ask of you. Above there is a "ISSUE". Please let HK know what we now know so others will be informed. Nice chat.
 pejay 548 points
Hi again, I will tell HK. I have a "bug the boss" privilege on my account site and I think that's the only way I can tell them. I don't think a regular email or entry to the forum will have any effect. Ditto nice chatting with you
 Kellyann 16220 points
pejay cool how do you get a BUG THE BOSS?
 pejay 548 points
You have to be a Platinum Member which I see you are but then you to become an Elite Club Member. I am spending a fortune on HK which is my adiction and kind of crazy. But guess this is the reason. However I also do a lot of reviews which maybe can be a criterion for this privilege - Here is what they tell:
You are currently an EliteClub member, which means you have either placed a substantial number of orders or contributed greatly to the R/C Community.
As an EliteClub member you are also offered certain privileges which will be communicated to you via email or in your account section (here) from time to time.
EliteClub members can also use the 'Bug-The-Boss' feature. Allowing you to send a short message directly to HobbyKings director informing him of an issue or suggestion.
 Kellyann 16220 points
pejay well that is so cool. So you are the guy to ask to get a massage through. Well I knew there was EliteClub member but I did not know what you were entitled too.
 pejay 548 points
WHOOPS I appologize. I made a stupid mistake. It is indeed possible to use a 9" prop and there is still 1/2 inch left before it hits the body side. I hope I haven't mislead anybody. I will use a 3 blade Master 9 x 7 which is still a bit smaller than the 10 x 7 recommended for NTM propdrive 3542/1250KV (It is now not listed anymore as recommended motor for this plane- wonder why?)
 Kellyann 16220 points
pejay that is Ok and thanks for the fix. So what about a MANUAL???
 pejay 548 points
Kellyann - I have uploaded the manual in the file section. Please enjoy it.
 Kellyann 16220 points
pejay I and many others THANK you. Thanks Thanks
 beppo 84 points
Pejay did You know the original C-160 has 4 blade props? I know its hard to find it in the required size but it looks more scale so.
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 pejay 548 points
Hi Beppo, I didn't know that but as you say, it is not easy to find 4-blade props, especially in this small size.
 Chad 5 points
Take two 2 blade props longer than needed and trim the ends to where the blade is more square, then put both props on the shaft at 90degrees to each other and you have a rough 4 blade prop.
 pejay 548 points
Good idea Chad

Hi i fly this plane with the D3542/6 (1000kv) Turnigy engine, 9/7 3 blade M A S prop, two 2200mah 3 cel battery. Fly of a grasfield without a problem. Beautiful plane,BUT it must be flown FAST.

Whenever HK releases a 4 motor version it will be a hit.
 Strussen 208 points
Oh ye, the same plane in a 1700mm a 4 motor version. I would buy one www.link
 Kellyann 16220 points
SIDDHARTHA the 4 engine plane is a different plane. It is a Hercules I think!!!
 __boma 130 points
In fact that would make t a C130 Hercules
 beppo 84 points
Strussen the 4 motor version is not a European C-160 Transall, its an American C-130 Hercules. You can find pictures on google.
Electric Power  465 points - 4/17/2012

looking at the pics it looks like a wing off battery replacement. Now I know it isn't a 5 flight a day type of plane but wing off can be a pain. Also looking at the vids of the other C160 it has to land hot and that could be a problem off grass
 djmoose 44 points
There is a seperate battery hatch. It's fine off of a grass runway...but probably wouldn't be able to taxi around in your un-manacured front yard.

Why the extra cost compared to the other C-160. Same size, weight and everything. Only difference is different paint job.
 Xell85 167 points
Yes, I think the same. I would love to have this model in EPO or something like the Twinstar.
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Crampy 179 points
Oh yes, that would be great. An EPO twin would be on my buy wish list for sure..... Oh and a credit goes to Xell85.
 Xell85 167 points
Hey thanks for the credit. Maybe the P-38 could a plane for you, I love it buts too expensive with shipping.
 Crampy 179 points
Yeah I like that, but want a cargo style plane. If I could ship the C-17 into my country I'd get that! I love C-17s.
 sparkie 325 points
I like this one as well... But would definitely like to see it in a foam version.

Are the retracts retractable?
 Strussen 208 points
I don't think so. It says that it's 4ch. if it had retracts, would it be a 5ch. Not sure, but just my guess.
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 slaanesh 424 points
Retracts are always retractable, the undercarriage or landing gear in this case look fixed.

except when they lock down :-)

I have just completed building the plane and it is indeed very nice. High quality kit and extremely nice finish. It is not an easy plane to build so I recommend beginners to start with somnething a lot easier. I have downloaded the manual in the file section here so you can see for yourself. And the manual is good.
I used the recommended motors NTM propdrive 3542/1250KV but I see it is not any more on the combo list - don't know why. Maybe they are too cheap (ha,ha). I use 3-bladed Master props 9 x 7, one regular the other pusher. I also use 2 x HobbyKing 50A ESC and I plan to use at least a 3000 mAh battery as both motora will draw a lot of current. I will try using either 3 or 4S. I think 4S will be needed since the 9 x 7 prop is a bit smaller than the 10 x 7 recommended for the motors. The max size prop you can mount on this plane is 9". It is a heavy plane - almost 3 kg so you will need a lot of pulling power from the two motors. I haven't flewn the plane yet. Plan to do it this week end and will let you know the outcome

Just flew mine. Running 2 NTM Prop Drive Series 35-42A 1250Kv with master airscrew 9x7 3 blade props 2 suppo 60a esc's and 2 3s and ZIPPY Compact 2700mAh 3S 35C Lipo Packs. Huge power at 42amps.
Taxied well even though there is very little weight at the nose.
Took off and climbed out fast. CG was pretty much spot on..Several circuits later I tried a slower more scale turn at approximately 50 meters.
Just as I started to turn ,it tip stalled and went into a spiral dive. Let go of the sticks to correct then gave a little elevator. Again it went into a violent spin. Tried again letting it straighten out and then a little elevator. Same result. After that I just watched it spear into the ground.
Everything destroyed from the main wing forward.
So if you have one of these, fly it fast.
