Will this spur gear work as I have had 3 now that have stripped?

I do not know if the Losi spurs work, but I do know HPI spurs work,That is what I have replaced mine with,5mm center hole 48 pitch.Got mine at local hobby shop for $3 bucks. As long as center hole is 5mm ,they will work.85 tooth is the largest size,so you can still use dust cover.I used a 87 tooth but could not use dust cover.Hope this helps.JK.
I can happily confirm that Kyosho DB spur gear fits perfectly, you can even keep the A2030 clutch plates. The Kyosho spur (Japan made) feels it's made of different plastic. Only....local hobby rip off shop charged $12 for it so it better be a lasting one.
Man that's so disappointing. Never in my life I've stripped new spur gear on 2S on the 2th pack. In fact I've never striped any spur no matter how much power I used. I don't want to buy this one again.
Is there something that'll fit from another brand? This is not on.
My new Kyosho spur starting to go bad after one pack too. I think the problem could be actually the clutch spring. It too stiff. I had to back it off having the nut only on two threads to get some slip from the clutch.
Its a 48 pitch.Hpi spurs work in the desert buggy.I have a 87 tooth hpi spur in mine. The only thing the cover will not fit with any spur bigger than 83 teeth.Hope this helps.JK
there always needs to be a weakest link in a drive chain. In this drive chain the spur gear is the weakest link, its cheap to replace and protects the more expensive parts.
Its a good choice for a part thats easy to replace and dirt cheap, and when it breaks it saves the other more expensive bits....If they made a metal one, you need to think ...."whats the next bit that will break ?"
If you need a metal spur thers a good chance your doing some thing wrong, if you set the mesh correctly you should have a problem. I've had plastic spurs on all sorts of rc's and they last a fair while when done properly
your slipper clutch is not adjusted properly if you are stripping the plastic ones. Try loosening it off a bit and see how it goes. If you put a metal one on you could end up damaging something else worse than a spur gear.
If you break this part,it means that your spur and the pinion gear are not adjusted !!!
The best way to avoid issues with this part is to put a piece of paper between the spur and the pinion gear, with this method you have a right space between these parts.

Relatively soft plastic and quite a lot out of round, which requires very careful setting of gear mesh. Also because of tight/loose backlash throughout rotation, pinions won't last as long as in other higher quality setups.
But, both the pinion and spur are so cheap, get a heap of them while they are in stock!
as pictured, same mold as original by the looks. Buy 2 at this price, you may as well have them in your kit for when you need them, rather than have to wait for them to be posted or in stock

This part keeps stripping, HK are you going to use a better plastic to make these?
I am not happy about this as I cannot even finish a race with out these gears stripping.
This buggy now sits gathering dust.....

Quite a bit out of round, so needs careful adjustment of gear mesh. Also because of this, the pinion never lasts too long. Strips very often, but so cheap and easy to replace, stock up on spares!
