The programming card is an excellent Item and simple to use!
I'm wanting to flash these to simonk firmware. Anyone have any luck or tips for doing so. Most the guides online are for various hobbyking brands, and I'm curious if the pad layouts are going to be the same.
These esc now have Silab chips hence cannot be flashed with simonk. There is an alternative FW similar to Simonk for silab based esc. links as follows : www helifreak com/showthread php?t=390517 Put a dot where a space is.
motors on my quad when i throttle goes from zero to very fast, whats the best values for the FF:
1. cut off type
2. cut off voltage
3. start mode
4. timing mode
Mine start up at a fair rate too, but not so it's a problem. I suggest soft cutoff (get some warning before battery dies), low voltage (maximum flight time), normal start (a must for a copter!). Timing mode depends on your motors but most (90%?) work fine with middle. Use low if they don't spin up reliably, high if they get too hot.
Its not the C rating that determine the size of the ESC, its the motor load. As long as your motor does not draw. more than 30A, you are OK with this Esc.
Welcome to our hobby. Your plans never playout as you thought, things go wrong, or you bought the wrong parts etc. The parts will come and you will have it together soon enough. No worries :) have fun.
Hi all!
I bought 4 of these. One is fault. When connected to battery there is no beep sound and motor is not moving, just very short shake. Is it mean that I can dispose this ESC or there is anyway to fix it? Thanks in advance! p.s. sorry for my English.
Can forget about fixing it unless you have a rework station and know what you are doing. Get another Esc. Before you do that try reprogramming the Esc with the programming card and do a throttle range setting, see if that helps.
Weird question but why is this 30A ESC cheaper than the 25A Plush? Are there any downsides to this one or why should I pick the 25A one over this one if this one is cheaper and better?
Thank you!
I have just received my 30 turnigy speed controllers and I'm going to
Use with my naza m systems GPS . The naza instructions say to disconnect the red lead from from the bec? Is that what I should do? I have used my kk2 board to calibrate them all, already.
Pull the red wire or not.
Hi what's the low voltage cut off for this I have a programming card and at the high setting it took each cell down to 3.15. Any help would be great thanks
If you are using this on a plane, I would set cutt off at medium (2.85v) per cell. and set cut off type to soft. Don't worry about the 2.85v per cell, this is an instantanious under load detection, by the time you land the lipo should be above the 3v per cell mark.
Depends on your motor and application, any 2s (7.2 volts) to 4s (14.4 volts) battery could be used, usually rechargable lipo batteries. Check out the batteries section in hobbyking.
Hi guys ,
This Turnigy Plush 30amp is my second one i bought to build my radjet kit.
i was wondering the Wires on this esc are allot thinner then the Turnigy 25Amp HEXFET.
Does this mather ? can i use this for the radjet 800 kit ?
thanks all of you for responding
These 30A ESC be fine with the radjet 800, don't worry about the AWG rating of the wires, they are matched with the ESC current in mind, just make sure any extension made to the wire are not too long. Rough guild, no more than 6 inches.
Hi eddfoo ,
Thanks for your help , i am soldering 3 bullet connectors on the esc wire and then i dont need to extend the wire its long enough for the little radjet :)
First I made a quad, and now made **another purchase and ended up riding a hexa.
The first purchase to the second, the ESC has come different.
And apparently this affect my final result.
This can occur?
Thanks for the quick reply. Currently building AQ-600 with this 30a esc. Plan to use kk2.0 board first and APM2.5 on the way. Will use these ESC with original firmway & letter try flushing firmware and see the different.
Its good. Just make sure you choose the motor accordingly. I use it on my quadcopter and hexacopter.
Ya, get a Turnigy programming card which will help you calibrate your ESCs.
Good luck.
While i am connecting this esc to battery ,i mistakenly connected reverse polarty and some smell and spark had come. After that when i am using this esc the moter is only vibrating an the esc is heating , can Any one sugest me any way to fix this esc ???? (Note: if it is not possible, is there any another way while i need only one speed) (moter used :
if you smelt smoke you more than likely burned it.
Best bet is to get a new one and a second as a spaire . Use plugs that you can not reverse the polarity like the xt 60 or deans T plugs.
Guys i know bout all the programing..but i dunno what happened with me..my motor is only starting after halh throtle..i usually program this in my car escs d..but this one here not working..any help
It should work - turn transmitter on, move throttle stick to 100%, plug battery into ESC, you will hear some beeps, after the two consecutive beeps move throttle stick to 0%, you will hear an indication of the li-po cell count - throttle calibration done!
This is exactly for the throttle calibration. If you leave the throttle at 100% after the double beep sound, you will enter program mode, which is NOT what I described. Just open you-tube and search for ESC throttle calibration... - turn transmitter ON, move throttle to 100%, plug battery into ESC, wait for initial melody, then there is a double beep, right after that move throttle to 0%, there is another series of beeps to indicate battery cell number, then you're done!!!
With a 4.5x4.5E prop you might just get away with using the 30amp ESC, but I would connect it to the Watt meter first and see what numbers I am getting at WOT.
is this enough to work with D2826-6 2200kv Outrunner Motor 342w
Iam using a 3cell turnigy 2200mah 20C Li-po Battery
link of motor :-

waiting for a sooner reply and thanx in advance
Depending on the prop you are going to use, you will be pushing this ESC right up to its limits. I DO NOT recommend you use this ESC with this motor. The Plush 40amp would be a much better choice. Product ID: SKU: TR_P40A
what settings/parameters would you change on the program card for motors to be used on a quadcopter? or would it be better to just leave it the way it is?
just get them all setup the same with a program card for normal start and have all of the same setting on each speed control.music to none set voltage , no break. get your quad flying then you can change settings to see what is better.
I have bought this ESC plus Frsky telemetry receiver (D8R-II Plus) and 4 x HXT900 and I am now wondering if 2A from UBEC of this ESC will be enough to power this receiver and servos?
i haven't had problems with my setups - bixler 1. i also have a stabilizer and it's fine. thinking though of adding a separate bec to be safe since i take videos and run the motor full throttle a lot. but i can't complain. reliable flights.
The total length of the wires from end to end if stretched out is about 20cm.
Motor wires are 7cm, the control board is 3.5cm and the battery wires are 9.5cm.
the total length of the unit is around 2 1/2 inches w/out wires around i in wide and aprox 3/8 in thick. Rough estamets as mine are deep in my multyrotor for me to get an exact measurment.
Nobody here knows, but it usually doesn't take long for these esc's. Add it to your wish list or fill in your email adres in the stock arrival alert form above so you get notified when it's in stock.
HK states average wait time is around 2 weeks for items to come back in stock. I have seen shorter as well as longer time frames for different items.
It all depends on the item on back order and rate it sells.
Nice Speed controller,Good for KK Board quad setup .No sync issues ,smooth throttle response,Perfect!! Thanks HK

I bought this speed controller for my 450-class helicopter. It seems to be perfectly suited for similar helicopters (t-rex 450, zoom 400, sjm 400, ...). It weight and price is much lower than the 40 -A-version. It has 40 A peak current, which is far enough (the average consumption of the helis above is usually less than 15 A). The speed controller works perfect and has a smooth throttle curve, would buy it again (and probably will).

These are HobbyWing Speed controller which are absolutely fantabulous! I love them and have almost their whole range of esc's. Use them on all my planes and have show good efficiency and reliability through the years! If you have used hobby wing ESC's you know what i am talking about. Get a programming card as well, its super easy to use and will be worth every cent.
ONE FLAW is that the governor mode hardly works well with helicopters. Using the 40A version but without governor mode as it won't hold the headspeed up well. Using a throttle curve is safer. Either that, get a jeti or CC for heli. Its perfect if you are not doing 3D though!

Nice ESC, a bit of a pain to program with your transmitter, but do-able. If you do get this ESC, get the programing card, it'll make things a lot easier.
