wats the best esc for this motor to get the best performance
 Dean 26 points
For this one (8.5) a 120A ESC or higher is best. A 60A one will be straining a bit to get the most out of it.
 robert 40 points
For on road 60A will be more than enough, for off road, you are at the limit with a 60A but it will do the job.
 Brett 1 points
so you mean for off road i need more amps
 robert 40 points
Not really 60A will be ok, it just the limit of what you should be using for this turn motor in an off road car.

Hi! i'm trying to find the max-min ratios of this motor.. anyone know them??? for more information actually i'm using this motor with a asso b4 ft, 22-81pinion a onecell 120a esc (sensored) with fans, and 2s lipo batts. and operates arround 40 degrees.
 rory 1 points
that sounds about right i use the 7.5 with a novak gtb in a b4 with a 21 tooth drop to this pinion and you may see a temp drop

So which is better? This or the other (red) Trackstar 8.5T? And are all those cooling holes a problem for dirt getting in?
 dahomie 10 points
I use this motor for competition on national level and if you ask me they are at least as good as the competition. I have yet to see any problems with dirt coming in through the vent holes.
 rory 1 points
yeah even in dusty conditions, these motors rule!
 robert 40 points
I put a little fly screen over the forward facing holes to keep the dirt out, they will fill up in soft conditions.

I have this 1/10 Exceed RC Brushless PRO 2.4Ghz Electric SunFire RTR Off Road Buggy Baha Red. I would like to change it to a sensored motor. What would you recommend for this type of rc?
 rory 1 points
the trackstars are great i use the 7.5 in my assosiated b4 ,goes very well!!
Measuredpath  23 points - 3/18/2013

Why do these motors never show what poles they are?
 Guys2nv 15 points
Most 540 sensored motors are 2 pole, vehicles running these 540 motors are light enough so you don't need 4 pole motors.

i
have 120A ESC.

thanks

the trackstar by a long shot i have the x-car motor and its a nightmare to solder not a good mount area to and its not as smooth running. i have the 9t trackstar not this 8.5t but my 9t or 9.5 (4200kv) is great and i would recomend it all day long. perfect.

will this fit and work in a traxxas rustler with a 200amp velineon esc and will it be worth it
 matt 90 points
yes it will fit, your speedo has way more than enough to accomodate this motor , the trackstar is very efficient and will be kind to lower spec batteries too, as for it being worth it , yes they are great motors and offer superb value , as always monitor the motor and battery temp for the first run and if anything gets 'HOT' rather than warm then consider gearing down a little.

The VXL-3s isn't a 200a ESC-way over inflated number by Traxxas. Many have tested the VXL-3s and it's more like a 100a ESC. Either way this motor will work fine.
 Matthew 4 points
60a, actually.

Hello ! Nice specs !! Do you provide spare ball bearings for this motor ?
 mcweck 56 points
you can get ball bearings everywhere, no need to order them from HK
David  2 points - 5/22/2012

does this work with HK sixty amp speed controller
 davidpc2 225 points
Hi David, for a 60A It should be fine this one, see Max current 50Amps but is quite on the limit. the lower turn motor for a 60A is recommended 8.5T for offroad and 5.5T for onroad. Check on other Turnigy Esc's. Hope helps
 Rych 1 points
It works perfectly in my 1/10th 2wd buggy with a 60a esc and doesnt even get warm and is seriously fast compared to my old 8.5t motor

Great specs. Awesome motor. For this price, the specs are way too good to be true. This is my second one. The first one was given to me from a friend. Since I used it, I'm stuck to it. Great buy. Highly recommended.

superb motors for sensor and sensorless esc's , build quality is exellent oversize milled rotor shaft and oversize bearings , fantastic torque and very smooth power deliver , its as good if not better than my trinity epic duo 2 , easy timing adjust ,comes with a sensor harness but i use with a 90 degree sensor harness for a cleaner install, keep it coming hobby king.

Good solid performaning motors. I love the adjustable timing. I would like to see more waterproof options in this lineup though
