Hi, how are the works in the axial Wraith? What gear would be slow enough? Thanks
 NathanMac 19 points
It depends what you want it to do. If you want it to be reasonably fast then this motor would work great. I have a 3000Kv motor in my wraith with the standard 19t pinion and it is really fast!

Thank you very much, at the end I picked up the Trackstar 60 amps with sensors and a motor 17.5 turns 1800kv with sensors and also i will crown pinion 10 and 87, I want it to be slow for crawler

Hey everyone, I want to get this for my b4.1, does the combo come with connectors between the motor and esc or do you need to buy them separately and solder them, thank you in advance!
 Ronald 7 points
they come with the combo all you have to do is solder the wires to the motor.
Massimiliano  25 points - 1/11/2013

hi folks! is this combo suitable for a 1/10 crawler with a 540-class brushed motor installed in origin?? best lipo battery? I don't need speed..the crawler will be used for ground fpv. thx
 fortin 8 points
you can but you will need to gear down a lot, according to the spec, the motor would be compared with a 21-23 turn brushed mototr. in the crawler I run, I have a 55 turn brushed. if you know how many turn the stock motor have you can figure the pigion you need.
 Ronald 7 points
I use this in my 1/16 summit and im using a 19 tooth pinion and it will break the driveaxles before it bogs(LITTERALLY!!!! ITS ACTUALLY HAPPEND!!)

What is the diameter and length of the wires used on the ESC.

I think I have burned my motor. What is a suitable replacement motor? Do HK sell this 1900KV motor separately?
 Chuggz 7 points
Yes they do

I have an ecx torment and want to know what's a good/cheap system to buy?
 Marco 11 points
this kit is great value for money

What is the max temp for a healthy motor. I came up at 98 degrees C...
 Ole Dog 6 points
Temps less than 75C range are preferred. Temps exceeding 100C can degauss the neodium magnets in the motor and ruin it. First line of defense is to put a smaller pinion gear on it.
Biss74  1 points - 8/7/2012

Could you use this in a 1/16 sct or is it to big? Having trouble trying to replace the standard motor and esc that died!
 Marco 11 points
depends on the class of your engine, this is a .36 In fact, the distance between a hole and the other for the fastening of the engine depends on the class of the same
 Marco 11 points
to be precise, the class of this kit is 540, the diameter is .36

Hello I own an HBX Stealth X09, and would like to upgrade it with a brushless motor. Since im very new at this, i would like to ask if this set would be something i can use on my Stealth? And if so, we do i need ANYTHING else to install it? Finally, do i NEED lipo battery for this setup? or can it run on both Lipo and NiMh?
Hobbyisity  204 points - 5/23/2012

YESS!!!, i have finally found the perfect upgrade for my stock geared Kyosho Kobra, now i just need to get the money together!

looking too upgrade too brushless
got a stock hpi blitz???

more speed more take off
 Strussen 208 points
Hello, this could be a great BL upgrade for your HPI Blitz. If you combine this setup with a LiPo battery 2 or 3 cells would it be great. If you have got any further questions about BL, feel free to ask. If this was helpful, feel free to credit me :-)
 Strussen 208 points
... I don't know what setup there is in a stock HPI Blitz, but this would be a good choice anyways. If you want something a little more powerful, can you choose the 13T motor and ESC. It's faster than this, but this setup is a good choice for first BL upgrade.
 haza117 2 points
This setup would be a little under powered for a blitz, wait, way to under powered, I have one as well with a 9.5t and a 2 cell lipo, it runs like a dream, hope this helped!

I am looking to upgrade the stock brushed motor in my Traxxas Stampede XL-5 truck. Will this set be a good replacement and give me more speed and power?
 Gabriel 7 points
Got one with more kv to have more speed!
 Brian 3 points
I have used this website *******scriptasylum****/rc_speed/top_speed.html to measure the speed from the motor and gears sizes. On my SC10 when I changed from brush 27 turn to brushless 17.5 turn it had more torque and less top speed. However, if you increase the size of pinon gear and decrease the size on spur gear you will get higher top speed and less torque.
 Brian 3 points
Somehow the website got scribbled. Just google in "scriptasylum rc_speed" and you ll find the website.

What I found are... _Turnigy balancer Charge 2S-3S. Direct 110/240V input $11.44 _Turnigy 2200mah 2S 20C lipo pack $8.79 _X-Car Brushless Power System 4000KV/60A $79.99 Is this look OK to you? Thanks.

BIG thanks mate, now I know where I stand and what to buy now.

Hi all, I am new about a brushless combo and I want to make my 4x4 on road 1/10 electric go fast just for fun. What should I choose? Can I still use my old 2000 Nickel Cadmium battery for brushless combo set? BIG thanks.
 Strussen 208 points
Hello. If you just want it to go fast, don't buy this set. You will need more KV. The KV is how many RPM your motor takes per volt. I would say that a 9T Brushless motor would be fine in the beggining, i think ot's 4000 KV or something..

 Strussen 208 points
And you'll have to change your battery to a LiPo pack. Either 2 or 3 cells. You will get most power from the 3S, but i would take the 2S. Remember to buy a LiPo Charger aswell. Remember that you only shall upgrade your cars motor, ESC and battery, if it can handle it. Please give me 20c if my answers was helpful. Anyways, if you have any further questions, feel free to ask :)

Will it be usable in scale crawlers? I mean smoooooth startups, acceleration, torque and immediate reverse?
 Strussen 208 points
I'm not sure but I think that you can do some setup with a programming card. Anyways, it's sensored, so you should have smooth startups.
 TrustyRuss 299 points
This will be no good for crawling as it lacks an 'Immediate Reverse' running mode.
 Cyrus 6 points
I've never had probs with the smooth startups of hk esc's/motors. The problems lie in motor torque and drag brake depts. Look at the pic of the back of the program card, drag brake stops at 30%. When hk offers 4pole clones along with 100% drag brake in their esc's, I will try them again.

That's a great upgrade for any SCT, Buggy or rally car with 2S or 3S ( depending on gearing). Lot of Torque, low consumption, smooth start, great acceleration, low heating. Wery easy to program with the HK 150A esc card. Can be used on crawler or expedition car too.....

Got this to use drop in a short course truck for racing at my local track. usually drop a lot of cash for gear, but wanted to get my son into something cheaper. This little combo is amazing. There is no "cheat" or "boost" mode for the ESC, but it is super easy to setup and adjust with the programming card. Very good quality. I would definitely consider getting another. The ESC stays very cool with this motor, so I took the fan off. Can't beat this thing. Very smooth at slow speeds. Just have to wait a week or two for shipping to us, but WELL WORTH IT!

This combo works well in: Crawler Kyosho's Rock Force 2.2 . Very easy to program with card. Long crawling time with Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack (PRODUCT ID: T2200.3S.20) Really Smooth start and acceleration. Very good safety feature is you can program forward/neutral/reverse. Speed control has loud fan but not big deal in crawler type "car". Rock Force has Screw drive system and it's not silent at all ;). QUALITY/PRICE in right order. Gonna buy more these Hobbyking combo's.... Cheap and High Quality Products..

I bought this system to install it in my daughters car. She is only 4 years old, so the option of limiting the maximum throttle is genius. She can now drive the car herself, and as she gains experience, I can turn up the speed :-) I bought another set for my rally car, and it is really responsive and has good torque and speed. I can really recommend this product.
