H-King Micro JU-87G-1 Stuka 685mm EPO (PNF)

H-King Micro JU-87G-1 Stuka 685mm EPO (PNF)
H-King Micro JU-87G-1 Stuka 685mm EPO (PNF)

The JU-87 is one of the most recognizable aircraft of WW2, it made it's name in the early days of the war, spearheading the early campaigns of Blitzkrieg. It was a very effective and accurate dive bomber that was much feared and with it's distinctive Gull wing and screaming dives, the Stuka became a truly iconic aircraft with it's place in history assured as one of the most devastating weapons of it's time. This superb micro Stuka is a tank killer version, complete with 37mm Cannon pods under the wings, surely one of the most amazing looking variants of the JU-87.

The H-King micro Stuka is made from tough EPO foam which is normally too heavy for micro models, especially ones as superbly detailed as this one, but during development every spare gram of excess weight was shed from the design to keep wing loading low. Being Plug and Fly, assembly is very fast, especially as all servo's, the brushless outrunner motor and the ESC have been pre-installed. Other features worthy of note are the removable 1pc wing and the full four channel control, complete with a steerable tailwheel.

The scale detail on this superb little model is quite outstanding, it is nicely finished and really looks the part, both on the ground and in the air. Despite it's tapered wing, the Stuka is very nicely behaved and looks very convincing in flight, parkfly size warbirds simply don't get better than this amazing looking JU-87!

Super Scale Detail
Easy and Fast to Assemble
EPO Foam for Durability
Nice Flight Characteristics Courtesy of a Light Flying Weight
Easy to Hand-Launch

Hey guys. My ESC have said bye bye and I would like change the motor too. However I dindt find the way to get out the motor without break the body. Have it any other way to do or I will have to operate him? Thank you all and becareful with the trees!
 Daniel 7 points
There is a little hole in the nose in front of the cooler. With a 1,5 mm hex-wrench you can free the Motor. unplug the ESC from your RC. Pull the Motor from the mount and you can pull the ESC thrugh the hole in the firewall, than you can change it.

Any consensus on how much of a power upgrade this model requires? I'm considering an ADH 300L but at 40 grams it might be a bit too heavy!

The sirens were actually known as the 'Trumpets of Jericho' rather than Jericho Hors... Psychological warfare, especially early in the war. Later in the war, the housing were still fitted, but the sirens themselves were removed or deactivated.

I used this motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_vi
ewItem.asp?idProduct=14841 with
3S 450mah 25C Prop. 8x3.8SF The Ju-87 flew like a fighter :-) AUW 250g NOTE: I bought the kit version and modified the wing. See thread at RCGroups for details.

John & metalguy - what motor did you use - if the motor is not strong enough for the task - what did you use? Please leave the links. Thanks in advance.

May I know what is the price for 4 Channel TX/RX & 7.4v 500mAh 2s Lipoly Battery. Is it possible or advisable to get a bigger battery like 1000mAh or more?
 Priyum 50 points
A 4ch TX/RX costs nearly 20USD,search for it in the search box,we have one for 23.03$ and as for the battery goes it costs another 4$,we have one for 3.86$ and i suggest you to not exceed the suggested battery limit too much as it is related to the ESC and you might end up burning things. Priyum

Mr HK. Very disappointed with this model, absolutely gutless. I should have known better when I watched the video and saw Scott's quest to remove milli grams to make it work. I'll pay a bit more heed to reviews before I buy. Having said this, I have had no disappointments from HK to this point, you bring RC to an affordable level and all my other models have been 100%. Thank you. When you start taking LEDs out of the wing tips to get the Stuka to fly, probably a good sign it shouldn't be brought onto the market.
 Priyum 50 points
Reviews are highly appreciated, just be sure to read through until you find if a plane suits you fully and yes hobbyking is great source for planes and other materials at affordable prices, keep connected. Priyum

Anyone know where I can get a replacement canopy for this plane? FYI, stock setup had no guts to fly. I upgraded motor and ESC and, as it turns out, it flies so fast you can lose the canopy ... Help!
stewjw  232 points - 8/5/2012

Maybe a mute point but I wish they could have left the wing tip lights in. I'm still looking for a Stuka maybe somewhere in size between this and the Durafly model with a fast motor, and tough under carriage to land safely on a rough surface. I'm still not sure about this one.
 metalguy 45 points
I finally got mine to fly satisfactory. I repropped it, removed the landing gear, and the cannons, even the mounts with a razor knife. Never did get it to fly with the stock prop. I now have an APC 7-4 thin e-flight prop, and have swapped the motor out for a larger one, with a 18 amp ESC. This thing is now...FAST! It will tip stall in a second if you fly it too slow, always has. I alleviated some of that problem by adding reflex to the outboard of the simulated ailerons. Make sure you reduce the

Sounds like a nice fix. I just came back for a 2nd look since its on offer. It really was a bit of a let down when released after seeing the preview video.
____FX  26 points - 7/21/2012

Is 2s enough power to fly this plane ?.
 metalguy 45 points
yes. 2s will fly it, but the stock, heavy three blade prop really sucks. Very anemic.
 sadiw 1101 points
Might as well swap it out for a 2 bladed prop.
Davecar9213  46 points - 7/11/2012

What size batteries id everyone fitting in this one? 1000Mah? 1300Mah 3S? Anybody?
 metalguy 45 points
I started with the 500 mAh, and have progressed to a 650mAh so far. My problem was the very low thrust the stock prop puts out, and the extreme tip-stall nature of it makes this a hard plane to keep in the air. Good thing it is tough! I am trying some reflex on the wing tips (like washout) to hopefully combat the tip stalls, and a 7-4 APC prop to make some thrust.
Keizersusa  8 points - 6/13/2012

I've seen the video and it seems really nice. It doesn't really show it's slow flight characteristics though. Would anyone know if this plane is a semi-floater or would one need to have high speed kept at all times.Tks for responses in advance.
 startazz 954 points
I wouldn't of thought you would need full speed all the time mate, not sure how slow she could go though, the only thing to is take her up a few mistakes high and slow her down a bit at a time, just as she is about to drop a wing or stall you will then know how slow she will fly, slow her down a bit before the stall and then you should be good but give her a little bit more throttle on the turns though.hope this helps.
Rogerio  67 points - 6/13/2012

I'd prefer not seeinf that black square on the fin. Everybody know what should be there instead. So better paint the right stuff in a scale manner or leave without it! I ordered one and now I'm thinking where to find the proper colours to blank out that ugly nonsense square!
 startazz 954 points
Yeah i know where you coming from Rogerio as i'm not that keen on the black diamond on the tail either,i guess HK has to keep everyone happy though as a couple of the European countries are not allowed to have the proper stickers, shame really but what can we do.
ohestnes  6 points - 6/13/2012

Probably a dumb question, but what are those tiny propellers on the landing gear?
 elgatosuizo 40 points
Sirens that produced a scary sound when they dive to release the bomb(s).
 ohestnes 6 points
Really? I've heard about those but didn't know they looked like propellers. Probably not functional on this model?
 Paramanic 26 points
probably not work on this but if they do they would make more of a higher pitched noise because there alot smaller than the real thing :)
 elgatosuizo 40 points
These were called "Jericho hors". anyway normally not present on the g version of the JU-87, because it was more a ground attack plane with 2 37mm AA guns

Anyone know if this has the lights in it, like the prototype did? My guess is no, because that would be the first thing you'd get rid of to reduce weight. From what I see in the photos, it doesn't look like it has them.
 mmackin 48 points
Never-mind, I watch the new video of it. No LED nav lights. :(
 startazz 954 points
Yeah you got that right mmackin as there isn't NO led lights on this one like the prototype had, still as long as it flies well and look the part which it does,i don't really mind,i'm just glad it's out now and it looks like it was worth the wait IMO.
 H-KING_SCOTT 5238 points
No, we ditched the lights as part of the strict diet regime the Stuka as made to go through.
 John 5 points
Scott..you must be disappointed with this model coming out of the factory in stock form..looking at all the work that members have had to do to get the thing to fly.
beezlebub  231 points - 6/11/2012

curse you hk! now i have to choose between this and the electronics to make a mini tricopter =(
 startazz 954 points
Is there really any choosing? well i know what i'd go for beezlebub, you could always get both but one might have to wait just a little bit longer i guess,i know how you feel though because i'm in the same boat what with the last few weeks HK has been bringing out some great planes for us,which make it even harder to chose between.
 beezlebub 231 points
hmm, a mini tricopter can fly in smaller spaces, and micro fpv would be cool, but on the other hand, look at this thing!!
 startazz 954 points
See your warming up to it even more now mate, you know it makes sense, like i said go with the one you want the most and come back for the other one later.beezlebub awarding credit for the best answer helps out when your stuck between to models mate.

Thanks for the credit beezlebub and if i can repay the favour i will mate. Now go buy the Stuka as you know you want too as i will as soon as i can.
 beezlebub 231 points
lol, in the end i didn't buy either of them. i got a funcub instead.
 startazz 954 points
Thats not even funny beezlebub, have you flown RC before then mate?if not then i can see why you went with a funcub but if you have and have been for a while i don't get it,still it's your choice at the end of the day and i'm sure you will be more than happy with it my friend.
 beezlebub 231 points
the multiplex funcub is not what it sounds like. it has HUGE flaps, giant tires, and a great deal of oomph. it can do stol, slow flight, fly from anywhere, do fairly decent aerobatics, and even 3d.
 startazz 954 points
Yeah i know what a funcub is beezlebub mate and the huge tyres are made of foam too, which helps it do ROG on all sorts of rough ground, did you get the multiplex power train for it to or did you put your own set-up in it?
 beezlebub 231 points
multiplex power sets are for NOOBS! i will be running over 580 watts.
 startazz 954 points
LOL,thats what i was hoping your would say, you'll have to get a video of the flight mate.
 beezlebub 231 points
don't worry, i DEFINITELY will.
shahram  15 points - 6/11/2012

I love HK, but its beginning to ruin my marriage and bankrupt me. I want this plane so bad, but I just ordered a two jets and corsair (waiting for shipping) and received a plane yesterday (pitt) thats bigger then I imagined and now have nowhere to put the pitt or the new planes coming. Love this plane, hopefully once I damage/lose/sell on **** some planes I will have room to buy more. If somebody could put a home video on this it would be great because I may have room for it in my clothes closet.
 startazz 954 points
Shahram been there one that mate,as far as my Mrs giving me a hard time on to many planes. Just do what most of us have to do and give them something they like just as much, which can be different from woman to woman. I need a bigger hanger all because of HK and there new range of planes,i might have to start storing some in the loft that don't get flown as much. As far as some one posting a video well thats always a good idea,so the more the better right.

Great!! The micro Stuka is finally here!!

Now HK, I think its finally time to deliver the Zephyr V70. Dont let hell freeze over before you release it.

i agree were is the zephyr.
 Tartago 485 points
Shoot first ask questions later.

Got one.
 startazz 954 points
The V70 Zephyr has to be out this week as well don't it Chickenfeet, well i'm hoping it does but if not i can wait when HK keep bringing planes like this out.
slaanesh  430 points - 6/11/2012

Is this really the much anticipated micro JU-87?
 Baxter 62 points
No, it's a Mirage
 Ahoef 10 points
HK is evil. They do practice mind-control! All of a sudden my vision went blank, and when it returned I looked at a mail from Paypal that I ordered a Stuka! Well, as I have to cope with this fait accompli, I think I will convert it to a D-5 version. The D-5 is has the same broadened span as the G version, but it was also used fot the 'original' dive-bomming. So, I'll hav to make it much lighter, add flaps, dive-brakes and bombs.....exciting...
 HobbyKing_Admin 8875 points

 mmackin 48 points
it's about freaking time, only 1 year later, since it was first announced.
 startazz 954 points
Still i think it was well worth the wait as she look the business to me,i bet she will be a joy to fly as well, thumbs up to HK for doing a great job.
 Ahoef 10 points
I am glad that they took their time and improved it first before releasing it. The longer the waiting, the sweeter the kisses www.link
 startazz 954 points
* Ahoef with out any doubt mate,it's always worth the wait but i'm sure some people think HK are doing it just for the sake of it,DOH.

I received the micro Stuka today.
It's really tiny and with a good deal of details.
Absolutely easy to assemble.
The only details are the wheels that were scratching inside the pants and the elevator that is flimsy.
But a little mods and its ready to go.

Just got mine this evening and slowly spending 2 hours in assembly. Good quality for money. Aileron servos are a bit weak but not a problem. Highly recommended for scale flyers. Be quick before it runs out of stock.

Great Detail in the mold, easy to assemble, took me less then an hour and I was taking my sweet time. Looks absolutely great but thats pretty much where it ended for me. The Stuka's servo arm for the aileron was binding with the fuselage, had to use a knife to cut it free. She wont taxi because the wheels in the spats bind with the foam around it. I and to cut them free and added lubrication. Even then is so so on free spinning. I tried to taxi and take off but failed, I wasnt getting enough speed from the motor. So we tried Hand Launching the Stuka, Failed x7. She just doesnt have enough power to keep herself in the air for any longer then 5 seconds. The CG is correct and we tried using more powerful batts with negative results. We think its the motor or the ESC. Either way it pushes about the same amount of air as my sisters Hair Drier. This is my first Hobby King Model and so far not impressed.

Why why why HK did you have to get down to absolute bare bones with the performance of this aircraft. Those that have managed a flight are having to repower and /or strip them down further. Surely the signs were there when you had to take led lights off for performance.??? I've given up trying to fly it. Other than this disappointment I've been very happy with all of my other purchases. Thank you for making RC an affordable hobby.
