"Shorty" Packs are designed to give you an extra tuning advantage when setting up your ride, while the pack shares the same width and depth as a conventional 2 cell 7.4v hardcase Lipoly battery, the length has been reduced. In a standard 1/10th scale vehicle this shorter length allows the pack to be moved forward or backward giving you a tuning option previously unheard of. Maximize your air time with a perfectly balanced Truck, Buggy or SCT using nano-tech shorty packs!
More than just a fancy name. TURNIGY nano-tech lithium polymer batteries are built with an LiCo nano-technology substrate complex greatly improving power transfer making the oxidation/reduction reaction more efficient, this helps electrons pass more freely from anode to cathode with less internal impedance.
In short, less voltage sag and a higher discharge rate than a similar density lithium polymer (non nano-tech) battery.
Unfortunately with other big brands, numbers, ratings and graphs can be fudged. Rest assured, TURNIGY nano-techs are the real deal, delivering unparalleled performance!
The nano-core technology in lithium ion batteries is the application of nanometer conductive additives.
1) The nanometer conductive additives form ultrastrong electron-conducting networks in the electrodes which can increase electronic conductivity. 2) These additives create a superstrong ability for imbibition in the carrier liquid to supply more ion channels. This improves the ability of ion transmission and ion diffusion. Through improving electronic conductivity and ion transmission, the impedance is reduced and the polarization of high rate discharge decreases greatly.
Advantages over traditional Lipo batteries: -Power density reaches 7.5 kw/kg. -Less Voltage sag during high rate discharge, giving more power under load. -Internal impedance can reach as low as 1.2mΩ compared to that of 3mΩ of a standard Lipoly. -Greater thermal control, pack usually doesnt exceed 60degC -Thickness swelling during heavy load doesnt exceed 5%, compared to 15% of a normal Lipoly during heavy load. -Higher capacity during heavy discharge. More than 90% at 100% C rate. -Fast charge capable, up to 15C on some batteries. -Longer Cycle Life, almost double that of standard lipoly technology.
Tried to order this thru the International warehouse using EMS 3-7day delivery. They charged my credit card but couldn't deliver my order in time. So I had to cancel my order and was told that my refund will be processed in 4 weeks! I feel ripped off. HobbyKing is quick to charge my card. Slow to deliver and even slower to refund! I regret being seduced by their low prices. Seems like it's all just a scam.
You cancel an order that is in the middle of shipping to you, from an international origin, which is going to cost them money just to get their product back. And Your surprised it didn't deliver on time? what the 3-7 days estimated for shipping. Cancel anyone's order in the middle of shipping and see how fast you get re-funded. Your lucky they even let you cancel and didn't charge you a restocking fee. Your own fault on this one, not HK's.
I specifically paid for express delivery and they did not ship it on time. Had they shipped my order on time, I would have never cancelled my order. After 5 days they couldn't even give me a tracking number or confirmation it has even left their warehouse. If I waited for it and it arrived late, would they refund my money spent for express shipping? No they would blame it on EMS. But it would have been completely their fault for not even getting it to EMS on time!
Ah yes, sometimes orders will take quite a few days to get filled and ship, and sometimes they go out quick. The delivery delays they specify is strictly the shipping part. Not order processing.
They processed my order by taking my money (charged my card) then never got my order out of their warehouse! Explain to me where is my fault and why you believe it's not HobbyKing's responsibility to follow through after they have been paid.
If you cancelled before it even left then I agree with you. My comment was for the 3-7 days ems shipping, I thought you cancelled it in mid shipping because of the delays. Which are often caused by airlines and customs processing. You will never obtain a product within 3-7 days of actually buying it unfortunately. They can take that just to prepare your order and get it out the door.
Perhaps they should inform the public that it takes 3-7 days for them to get "in stock" packages out of their warehouse, not including the 3-7 days of EMS delivery time.
NO this is a GREAT battery!!!!!! I am running this battery on my Associated T4, B4 and an HPI Blitz. with no problems. I have in these vehicles 45 amp ESC and Turnigy TrackStar 17.5 Motors. and these batteries do not have a problem getting even warm. These are great I am getting ready to buy 2 more packs now that they are available in the USA Warehouse.
Great battery for both performance and the price. Very punchy and good on run time. I know of at least five other racers who have bought this lipo and are very happy.
This is an awesome battery. It is light and small. I use it on an f1 21.5t in blinky mode. So i barely use the capacity that this battery has to offer.
I got mine in the January and have had zero issues with them. I've had other racers order these after checking the internal resistance on mine. With any LiPo if you take care of them they will be fine. Don't over charge, over dis-charge, or store with a full charge.
I have over 30 different nanotech batteries and never had 1 of them puff up. If you use them as they should be used, like all lipo batteries should be, they are the best batteries for your $ on the market.
Yes, they work in serial or parallel just as any other 2s pack. To run 4s, you'll need to run a cross-over cable between a negative and positive terminal on the batteries, then plug your battery leads from the esc into the other two.
I'm just as confused as you are. The specs above says 189.9 grams WITHOUT the wires and case. To me that's not very helpful! What I can do is I can weigh mine with the case if you want?
here in the uk it is often quite wet outside and i want to upgrade from nimh to lipo but its needs to be waterproof so will this pack work for my needs.
Can I use this on my 1/16 Turnigy Monster Beetle (110BS)? Can my stock ESC handle its power or will it blow up the minute I play it? Newbie here.
Thank you.
oh yeah .ran these in my sprint car ,quite punchy. the reedy 4000 shorty is twice the price but it is a good battery also .you did,t say if `it 2wheel drive or 4 wheel drive .it will work with both ,lots of spacers to move the battery around a lot.this might be a problem as the battery tray is long enough for regular packs plus spacers already so you will need quite of spacer material
I use these in my HoBao Hyper 8.5 Pro BL-conversion. I have a FDR=10.14 and running a Hobbywing 2250 kv motor and getting 10 minutes of run time on the course. I outrun any nitro buggy with this setup!!!!
whats the advantage of say this 65c discharge vers a 30c rate, why would i want the 65C instead,is it just power just from the get go when you thruttle?
Well this battery can maintain a discharge rate of 270Amps, a 30C battery of the same capacity can only do 126Amps. Basically, you can use this battery for very high drain applications where the other one will just melt and explode. :)
65C gives you more power over the whole range, so bottom, mid, and high end. But no (sometimes a little bit) top speed. These shorty packs are great in cars when you want to change the CG to the back or to the front. With offroad you can tune it to fly better or give more grip at the rear or more steering. I dont own one but i want to give a try. P.s. If you have a shortcourse or you are a basher you will be better of with a normal size stickpack the 65c 6600mah are great!
i know its for cars ,but in the same catagory for power i fly jets,i dont need it to be a hard case so wouldA A 30C BE just as good or would i use the 65C DOSE IT MATTER? THANKS I WILL AWARD THE POINTS FOR BEST INFO.
The advantage is during large current draw, the voltage sag will be less. It will maintain average higher voltage for longer. Under the same high discharge conditions, the higher C battery will give you higher top end performance. You especially need high C for EDF. Check out the other nanotech battery configurations.
126amps OR if u needed less of a current draw, lets say 100amps is the batt will LAST MUCH LONGER due to not having to stress the batt that much.....if your particular application only needed say 50amps, then buying a batt that is capable of providing that much more current is just a waste of money and weight as the higher c rating increases the weight of the batt
argh...beginning of the above got cut off....this pack can provide up to 273amps of continuous current draw and a 30c pack can provide 126amps...obviously if ur application needed more than 126amps (30c) then u need this pack....if u need less than 126amps, u will not stress the batt as much and it will last much longer in terms of how many times u can charge/discharge...if your application needs way less than 126amps, a 65c 4200mah will be DISADVANTAGEOUS. I.E. waste of money with and the batt will be much heavier
think about full scale cars....if u only drive around town and need 100 horsepower and u always fill up your gas tank when it gets half empty, then having a 1000horsepower engine and carrying around 200 gallons of fuel would be a waste of $$$ and with a weight penalty
This is definitely a car battery. Oh and for 1/5 bikes as well... The advantage is not only in the 65C discharge rate, but also the lighter weight AND the ability to mount it in such a way as to better balance the vehicle, since it is a lot smaller physically than "normal" 2S hardcase batteries.
I just received 6 of these. All are balanced nicely. I see mine have ROAR approved stickers on them, is this for real? Is there any documentation proving this?
You are correct, a ROAR sticker means nothing. If you go to the official ROAR website roarracing**** you will find this battery on the approved list. No other proof is required as your loacl track will refer to the ROAR list.

Another excellent value for the money from HK. Performance wise, every bit as good, if not better than the name brand shortly pack I picked up before these were available. I am using it in my Losi 22 buggy with a stock 17.5T motor and Tekin RS speedo. So far my only worry with the two nano-tech hardcase batteries I have bought is the cases are a bit thin and very flexable. So far they have held up well with no issues after a few local club races. I also have a nano-tech saddlepack in an old XX4 and it rocks power wise.
HK, please stock this one in the US warehouse. I want to buy some more to try out in my sadium truck. I think the weight savings and tuning via. battery position will be a big positive.

These work great in my Hyper 8.5 Pro BL conversion! I run 2 of these in series in my buggy. Losing about 160g total weight! 10 min race time! :-)
I will buy more of these!!!!!!!!
I have one suggestion: Pleace make the connectors go through the hardcase so one could connect from both sides of case! This would be awesome!!!!

Purchased two shorty packs for my DESC410r. I recieved them after about 3 weeks which was better then the usual 4 weeks. However one of the batteries was puffed. Bad luck for me, Hk said they would not replace it which confused me. I thought they had a better warranty program. I will still purchase their product, but I am done answering any of those annoying questions that always pop up on my screen.
