Durafly once again set the standard with this high quality A-1 Skyraider which has enough scale detail and features to keep any warbird enthusiast happy. The 1100mm range offers the RC pilot a practical size model that can be easily transported and uses the ever popular 2200mAh 3s Lipoly pack, yet at the same time, the model is large enough to have presence and is able to tackle most airfields, not to mention a little wind, making it very practical.
As well as looking fantastic, this Skyraider is plug and fly, meaning very little assembly work is needed. The powerful outrunner motor, ESC, navigation lights, servoless Twist & Turn electric retracts, gear doors & servos are all pre-installed leaving you to glue on the tailfeathers and some scale detailing, bolt on the plug in wings and go flying!
We have flown this superb A-1 Skyraider extensively during testing and it will not disappoint, there is plenty of power for those really scale warbird aerobatics and the airframe is viceless with no hint of a tip stall. The pre-installed flap servos have a nice, slow operation to help prevent ballooning and the flaps themselves allow the approach speed to get down to a crawl without a hint of wingrock. There is no doubt, this is one fantastic looking warbird and it flies as easily as a low wing trainer!
Features: Ultra Scale Detail High Quality Construction & Finish Plug & Fly, simply add RX and Lipoly (not included) and fly! Optional missiles and drop tanks, model features additional clean wing panels Pre-Installed Twist and Turn Retracts with rubber tyres & functional gear doors INCLUDED Tough EPO Foam Construction Flaps fitted AS STANDARD with slow operation servo's for realism and to prevent ballooning Pre-Installed Navigation Lights Easy and Fast Construction
I haven't put this plane in the air yet because the right landing gear is toed out and you can't really bend it properly to toe it inwards because of the glued plastic strut housing around the strut itself. Plus, I've read from other reviewers that the landing gear is a weak point for this plane. Just wondering if anybody has switched the stock gear out for something else stronger, such as E-Flite retracts or another brand. If so, what did you use specifically, i.e., specific brand and stock number. Thanks!
hallo, i have this model with 7ch spektrum radio and i must say, that this plane is very nice in the air and easily control. And with glass tape on the wings is very strong and crashes are with min. broken parts. I recommended
Hey guys !
I wanted to get a decent RC plane , that would be good for newbie, and i don't know if this one is easy to use or no.
By the way, if you'd recommend it , any suggestions about radio ? TY in advance!
Hi Tom,
The AD-1 is an easy to fly airplane, but how much experience do you have? The retracts in stock form are slightly delicate and you would need some mechanical skill to keep them from giving you fits. This plane is also a point where you fly it plane. Though stable, there is no built in recovery stability and requires some trained reflects from the pilot. The prop breakage would also be an issue and keep you grounded unless you are not a true newbie. I would buy this one later when you have more hours under your belt.
If you take off the doors you can go bigger. I have three of these AD-1s. One I put foam wheels of a Hobbyzone Super Cub and no mods. They fit perfect and are soft. The other two I took off the doors and put bigger wheels. Dubro 2" fit with a little dremel work. you could put up to 2.25" without hitting the servo wires. Grass wheels should be more V shaped.
A good looking bird. For me the black point is the manual,as mikesan said recommended Lipo 3S/ 1800 mah 25C. I guess that the cabon fiber strip is for elevator ...??!! How can I remove the cowl to replace the motor? Four servo lignes for the 2 retracts gears ??? What's for ?
Carbon fiber is for the horizontal stab as you probably figured out. To remove the cowl just pull on it. It is just friction fit. The four Y connecter is for all the lights. I don't even bother with the lights as they are useless in almost any light because they are only 4.8 volt LED. The LED wires are a different color and only two wire so they are easy to tell apart from a three wire servo wire.
Somebody can recommend me the optimal throws for ailerons, elevator, rudder and flaps? I just finished the model and don't want to crash in the maiden flight.
HELP ME!!
Julio, Try 8mm up and down for the ailerons for starters. Rudder go inner hole full for ground handling and elevator can be minimal 8mm too as it is large. The plane is very twitchy and hard to control at full throws. I have travel limits on my radio set for 50% and 25% expo.
you know what would be cool is if this had the red lights on bottom like the t-28 have on them the p-51 too i have the t-28 plus this one nice looking plane's.
Beach, you would need a servo tester like the Tunigy mega 7 in 1 tool. Might help to know what you intend to do. You don't have a radio or you don't want to use the radio?
I am new to the RC Planes, just been flying helis. I just bought this A-1 and the motor is cocked to the right. Is this normal or should I adjust it straight??? Thanks
Yup, thats just how its supposed to be, most RC plane motors are pointed slightly down and to the right, helps with torque roll. This is a great bird by the way! I love mine! Good Luck!
Allan, There is no difference except one is in the international warehouse and one is in the US warehouse(or the warehouse closest to you). You probably spend less on the one in the US warehouse on shipping so it almost evens out. Plus you will get it faster by ordering the US warehouse one.
Most definitely. It lands well with or without flaps. Just have to maintain a little more airspeed without flaps. This is my favorite plane for landings. VERY smoot!
thought hk made durafly plane's went into the durafly photo's contest there is durafly spitfire plane's in there but none listed on hk site anybody got answer for that one??
Howdy, Just wanted to share a video of my friends maiden flight with his Skyraider. This is a super great looking plane in every sence. Great lines, great performance, and great fun. Motor has unbeleivable torque! Enjoy the vid.
Have not flown yet, will fly on may of 26th. Packaging, well protected with lots of thick foam compartments along with soft foam packing sheets. Initial impressions, great quality for the price and pretty good paint job! Detail is nice for its size and foamie as well as all functioning servos and retracts. I noticed the engine was mounted slightly to the right, dunno how many degrees they originally intended. I found that I had trouble installing one of the screw on the wing to the main body, all I did was screw in sideways into the foam to reach the threaded hole. The ESC seems kinda puny, I was testing all my servos, setting up flaps, and retracts. Barely ran the motor once or twice and the esc was hot to the touch. I will swap it out once I find the specs on the motor. I might even consider using a seperate bec since ther are so many servos.

It took me 30 minutes to assemble, and 2 hours to add details that should be there, like the exhaust stacks. That's why only 4*. The corsair has a completely different and higher level of detail than the A-1 and P-47. I flew her with a Zippy 2200mAh 3s 25c. She felt tail heavy, so I added 20g of ballast below the battery tray, as close to the nose as possible and now she flies very good.
Take offs are easy. For landings you need to deploy flaps, throttle @ 25pcnt until touch down. release the throttle and give a gentle up elevator to sit the tail. In the air she is very solid, even with all the rockets and napalm tanks. Excellent plane from Durafly. Keep them coming HK!
When the BF-109? (Before I get tempted by the 1400mm ;-) )
es un excelente avion con muy buena calidad se armo en 3 horas

Arrived in very good condition well packaged Very nice looking plane lots of detail.
As other reviews went together very well in about 1 hour Lights look brighter than the other models or maybe it's just me.
Will test fly it this weekend hoping all goes well. I'm still to check the C&G and set it up for the maiden flight but will update the review and hopefully a video of the first flight.
Well worth the price and would recommend it to any one thinking
of getting one
Good luck and Happy Flying

Excellent plane! Took me a few hours to put it together, set up the throws and CG. I had to and 1/2oz of weight to the nose to get the recommended CG with my 2200 3s 50c nano batt. I have to say she flies like a dream! Few clicks left on my ailerons and she is hands off at full throttle. Not the fastest plane but not bad for scale flight with all bombs attached. I'm very happy with this plane....Stuka is next.
Great job HK!
