I know this recommends an 8x4 prop, but can someone tell me if the recommended prop is suitable for this power system? I will be running the factory motor that comes with the plane with a 2 cell lipo. I would like to hear back from anyone that has tried this set-up.
yes an 8x4 prop is perfect for this power system (i used an 8x3.8 apc) for nice slow f3p style flying but for more aggressive 3d id recommend getting a more powerful motor. id also say go for a 370mah 2s or lighter battery for a good combination of good flight time and a lightweight plane.
started putting it together and found that tail section where you glue to wing was paper thin all the way back to stab. NO WAY TO PROCEED ANY FURTHER. Totally pissed.....I was warned not to buy.....
Can I put my .46 glow engine on this, or would that be to strong? Just kidding. lol. What motor do y'all recommend for this plane. Your opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks
This plane comes with motor, however if you need more power go with the .46 glow. Kidding, a good power increase is HD2613-1900kv especialy if you are overloading this with a 850mh 2cell battery. Never tried 3cell with this plane so I don't know a 3cell recomendation.
I have not tried 3cell with this plane, however if you limit your full throtle use to 3 seconds max per 60 seconds of flight, and use mostly half throtle you should be ok with the recomended 8x4 GWS dd (direct drive) If you like a lot of full throtle don't go with larger than 7x4 GWS dd prop.
i ordered the last 2 of these kits from the US warehouse so i could have one on backup but also oredered 3 850mah 2s nano-techs, will these be too heavy or will i just have to adjust were i put them to even the CG ? when i put these kits in the kart to order it had the recommended items other people have purchased with this plane, so i figured this was the average battery used with this plane, this will be my first 3d plane, any help is much appreciated.
Let me change my reply a bit, an 850 nanotec is 49grams, a 370 nanotec is 27grams, an 850 is 22grams heavier. That is nearly double. This plane is a light slow flyer and a blast to fly low and close. We are talking 22grams read what 15 grams more (37) does read the question below.
Tried to fly this plane for the first time today and it would not fly. I launched it at full throttle and it just stalled and fell to the ground. The only thing that I can think of is, I had to use a 1000mah 2S battery until my 350mah 2S's get delivered. It's only about 37 grams heavier than the 350mah. Would 37 grams cause it not to fly?
kellyann you have no clue what you are talking about and you give wrong information regarding cg (if you know what that means) and you should have never become a pro contributor since you always give wrong answers. Also your answers make no sense. I have been in a hobby for almost 15 years and I've never seen anything like that. I saw your answers in few discussion forums and I still do not understand why people give you credit for your advice. yes you can get the same plane for $24 at **********s**** without motor.
jacknyc Sir I was only trying to help. I never, said here anything of a C of G. I never asked to be a Pro Contributor. I know it is my fault. I have been ziping around answering the simple Questions. The newbie Questions. The one the old flyers have left unanswered. I was a newbie once. Only 4 years ago. As a girl I got laugh at and other things that make me cry to think of. Now I am getting the same HATE here. Well I am sorry. If you were to do your share of answering the questions, what you guys seem to leave because they are too simple for you. Then I will not be a NEEDED.
jacknyc you will have to hunt the out (Go og le) if you wish the free. If you are willing to pay for them about $25. Buy one without motor and trace it out. SORRY
jacknyc once you buy one you can trace it and make as many as you like.

Flys amazing. This is my first 3d plane, and after about 6 flights, I was hovering, 10 flights, knife edging 2 ft off the ground. The stock motor hovers at half throttlewith 370mah nanotech batteries. It is kind of time consuming to assemble because of all the carbon rods that have to be cut and glued. The wheels are mostly useless as they just spread apart (mine fell off somewhere many flights ago), but the sticks the wheels are on do cushion landings a bit. I ran it into the ground once, into the side of building once, and into a tree once. It is actually a lot tougher than it feels or looks. Would buy again.

I have built but not flown this plane, yet. The build was not hard but, would be a lot easier if the pics in the build guide were clearer and or taken closer to the plane. For a new builder, there are areas in the build guide that are vague. the "fuselage reinforcement" needs to be cut on one side but, at both edges. The "fiberglass reinforcement" installation pics are too small and do not indicate just how this item is installed. The landing gear will not support the plane when you try to taxi for take-off. It will allow the plane to fall and the prop to strike the ground. Larger CF rods or a method of extra reinforcement of the landing gear is needed.

Maiden flight yesterday between rain sprinkles. This thing is fun. I ended up a little heavy @ about 200 grams auw. Made it a bit sluggish maybe even under powered. Would just barely crawl out of a hover. What I thought was really fun about this foamie is how slow it flies. And if trimmed out right it goes where you point it. Will be experimenting with different props/battpaks/CG. Also this thing is actually pretty tuff. I hit the pavement full speed once and all it did was crack the prop and scratch the motor can a little. It doesn't really go fast enough to really crash hard. At least not yet... :). Ass others have said the landing gear is useless. I just hand launch. All in all well worth $45 imho.

Quite hard to put together, takes a lot of time. Definitely needs more power. The little motor it comes with is not fit for this airframe. In my case it almost hovered. Upgraded to a slightly bigger one - I am using 2S 370maAh. Flies ok, responsive. i wouldn't buy another one.

I built this plane and maddened it this morning. The plane really is a hassle to build. The maiden flight went good, but I was not happy with the flight time. The plane flew slow (and I mean slow) but at the same time very agile. Once I get the power to weight ratio straightened out, and start getting a little longer flight times, I will be happy with it.
