Anyone know which programming card works with this ESC? Listening for beeps is making me lose my mind.

Fried one of these on a HK450 heli after second battery. Not sure what happened. Maybe bad luck.

In the pic there is only one capacitor when I purchased the product I found it had two.......
 DoubleCH 6 points
I think the 1-cap version is old. So is the spec. I bet the 1-cap version comes with linear BEC. I bought 3 and they're all 2-cap version and comes with 4A switch-mode BEC. See FILES section for printed manual.

Bought 3 of them. First one spontaneously fried after flashed with BLHeli, run up, stopped, unplugged, and re-plugged in. Not blaming HobbyKing or Turnigy AE 45A ESC. I've flashed and run a lot of BLHeli ESCs and I've 3 spontaneously fried like that which I still haven't found the culprit. Anyways, my second AE 45A ESC works fine. Run it in my Blade 300X with Parkfly P2632 motor and 10T. Everything runs cool, no sweat. I may consider running my third AE 45A with my existing Castle Creation 10A BEC on my Trex 450Pro DFC. Notice that product description on this page is outdated. The latest version v3.0 (printed on PCB) comes with governor and 4A 5V/6V software-switchable (with either original software or BLHeli) switch-mode BEC.

Uploaded scanned manual that comes with ESC in the FILES section.

I see this works with up to 12 pole would it work with 14 pole? an is so how would it do so, explain so I would know in the future how poles with the motor an esc matter.

Unfortunately, I cannot write a review.....? So why not write it here. Five crowns. great quality. I'm using it on an extreme flight extra 300 exp. (48 in.) Buy it. It is worth the money!!!!!!!!!
 William 189 points
I used it on a 5s and it does get quite warm but still works great!

If you are going to purchase these ESC's verify the proper wiring on them and double check for an internal short. One of the ones I just bought was internally shorted and burst into flames. :(

Why does this ESC change back to default after I disconnect the battery. My motor won't run properly unless the timing is advanced and load set to high. I am running a 4 or 5 cell.

Don't just assume that red is plus and black is minus on the battery terminals. Check the wire colors against the labels printed on the heatsink. Mine came in with black to positive and red to negative. Checked with an ohm meter (black to minus terminal on the input caps), and sure enough they were swapped. The heatsink label was right, the factory just messed up.
 gtoguy 36 points
I meant to say "red to minus terminal on the input caps"... meaning that the red was truly connected to the minus terminal of the controller.

can anyone tell me what programming card to use with this esc. Please give product id.

answer:this works should be in stock soon PRODUCT ID: TR_PC

On a previous recomendation I have tried this part and it does not work. When I select to load the settings it just hangs. I have also manually changed the settings with my transmitter and the device will not register these changes. This either means something is wrong with my ESC, something wrong with programming card or it is not compatible.

sorry I replied incorrectly. Result of not knowing how to use this site

must be your esc, or mine but it works for me, I have another one I am going to use on my scncro too, in a few days after the build is complete I post a commet if it works on that one.
 roberted5 104 points
Doesn't work with any programming cards.Read the description.
If it did work with a card HK would have it with related products.Just use transmitter.
TG-Prog is for car and boat ESC's.
 roberted5 104 points
Directions say it works with your computers USB port if you get prgramming box.But which one. Most ESC have the programmer in the related products section.
Alot of settings for transmitter programing.

Build quality is good and it looks nice and neat. It has a red LED that flashes along with any beeps. There is a wide range of programming options and the instructions are very clear that you can even remember them. Thorttle response is crisp and the soft start is really smooth. On very soft start mode, it will ramp up for 12 seconds. I used two diffrent motors and both worked well, both ESC and the motors were only warm. The red LED will light solid red above 85pcnt, or will flash if using governor mode. I'm so satisfied with this ESC that I used it in a 250 as well, although it is quite big and heavy for such a small helicopter. Thanks HK!

Construction / design looks good, different BEC voltage to select, and better than plush/sentry but DOES NOT WORK with Turnigy BESC programming card as they advertised, you have to go thru painful transmitter programming.

There are some reports that the bec does not work on some of these, I have had no problem but better to check the voltage on the servo lead is 5 volts and not 12 volts if 3s is used before plugging it into the receiver. Better safe then sorry.
