Perfect for XT60 connectors - they fit over the gold contact and inside the plastic sleeve.

This heat shrink is good quality, I used my heat gun and wo and behold it shrank. All I can say really, it works :-)

is there a another way to shrink this than a heat gun?
 sirglider 164 points
Lighter, solder iron, candle... Any heat source
 Andy_NM 89 points
I use the side of my soldering iron and graze it along the sides of the tubing, this works pretty well if you apply heat evenly to the tubing.

Do these fit around 16AWG wires (only wires) and 3.5mm gold bullet connectors?
 abdulahad100 363 points
They are the perfect size for 3.5 mm bullet connectors. I use them on 14 awg wire and they are fine. I think they will be ok for 16 awg as well.
 abdulahad100 363 points
I just confirmed, you can use this heat shrink with 16 AWG wires. I use this heat shrink on the motor wires of my ESC and they are 16 AWG.

YES THEY FIT 16AWG WELL, THEY FIT 14AWG WELL THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY DONT FIT OVER THE 4MM BULLETS VERY WELL IT IS A TIGHT FIT

Thanks superjon78...u were of a great help...I'm also trying to purchase PolyMax 3.5mm Gold connectors for the motor and XT60 to 3X3.5mm power breakout cable. Can u pls tell me how many of these I need to purchase...For quick links pls look at the foll links : Power Break out Cable for battery and ESC - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem

help me !!
 superjon78 135 points
Lets see..(and I apologize if I misunderstood what you requested). - First, I will assume you are using a Power Distribution Board like the ones they sell here rather than simply bundling each set of power wires from each ESC together in a bug knot. From this board you would then be able to neatly run a single set of powers out and terminate them with the XT60 connector (female). - Second, I assume the only place you will use the 3.5mm bullet connectors is between each of the three ESCs and motors. So, I will assume your motors do not come with connectors already. I figure you will nee 9 sets (9 male and 9 female) for a total of 18 individual pieces. - Last, be sure to buy 2 meters of 14 gauge wire in both red and black as you will need it to extend each of the two power wires coming from each ESC. If, you decide rather to extend the motor wires from each ESC instead, you will need to double the amount of bullets I me ruined earlier so you can make extension leads that are removable. I would recommend, though, simply extending your power wires. *Good luck on your build. You are going to love your tri. They are very nice to fly. Feel free to keep asking questions.

Brilliant superjon78...That was like a brief tutorial...Thanks a lot !!! So in summary..I would need 2mtrs of heat shrink wire (red and black), 2 sets of 3.5mm connectors and an XT60 cable. Is that it ???
 superjon78 135 points
That's correct...as long as by "two sets" you mean 18 male bullets and 18 female bullets...an by "XT60 cable" you simply mean XT60 plug (female). I assume you have decided to extend the motor wires rather than the ESC power wires. Don't forget the wire you will need to get some extra black and red wire for your extensions.

I'm trying to build a tricopter..so how many of these should I purchase for accommodating the three motors ?? Pls help me...I'm a newbie in this field !!
 superjon78 135 points
I built a tricopter myself. After making several assembly mistakes and corrections, I found I still had some of this left over from my original 1 meter length I ordered. 1 meter is plenty. I ordered red and black just to satisfy my OCD for color coding the and - wires accordingly. Good luck!

 EmikBak 38 points
yes. just before shrink.
 Gerry01 2991 points
Yes, and this tube shrinks 2 to 1, so you'll get a 2mm tube once shrinked.

actually most important you should know the wire size (diameter) that you will solder to XT60 connector than only you can know the size of heat shrink tube. for example you using 14AWG wire, the diameter is about 3-3.5mm so this will turnigy 4mm heat shrink will be nice. 10AWG = 5-6mm, 12AWG = 4-4.5mm, 16AWG = 3mm. Generally wire diameter size but depend on brand or mfg.
 gain71 102 points
yes, no problem

I recommend that HK web developers implement functionality that would be not answer the question proposed to her and just disappear from the list of questions of our accounts, so we can do a better job. hi , you can use a hair dryer or as I do , use the cooler part of your solder (the thick part in the middle) just get it closer to the sink gently...
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Modellights 15 points
A heat gun is basically a hair dryer with less airflow. Set a hair dryer to the lowest speed but hot setting, then put your hand over about 75pcnt of the intake. This will make it blow less but hotter air. Don't do it long, then run the hairdryer on cool some and cool it down. Hairdryers have more plastic and aren't made to take this, so don't do it more than about 10-30 seconds at a time. A heat gun is cheap so get one if you do much of anything, but this works when only a hair dryer is handy
 HellyFlyer 1257 points
best is to use a candle economical and best results

I use a cheap paint stripper heat gun. It has variable temperature and works brilliantly. Usually cheaper than a modellers heat gun. Matches and candles will often leave soot on the sheat shrink tube and a soldering iron leaves a mess also.
 fuck hobbyking 9 points
A hairdryer can be used but must be kept quite close to the heatshrink in order to heat it sufficiently. Be careful to keep the tip of the hairdryer moving so as not to overheat any wire, connector, or other delicate components.
 perelo65 5 points
Just passing the flame of a lighter, longer contracts, do not leave quietly in one position, moving the flame as if you wanted to paint the cable.
 Ranger71d 16 points
Yep, I use a hair dryer and it works very well. Just keep it moving and be mindful of sensitive electronics.

you can heat up an soldering iron, and put under it, and wait ... or heat with a lighter , but awere, that the fire won' touch the tube itself :P

Using the tip of the iron oftens marks the heat shrink, but there is often a cleaner part of the iron above the tip that is still hot enough to shrink the tubing and not to mark it.

I AM USEING A 12G WIRE AND WANT TO USE HEAT SRINK WHAT SIZE DO I NEED
 r_g_r 1179 points
Well, that depends on the actual thickness of your wire including the insulation. As I don't know how thick the insulation of your wire is, nobody can make a suggestion. But the following might help you: Based on my experience the turnigy heat shrink tubes shrink to about half of their original diameter. So let's assume your wire is 4mm in diameter. A heat shrink tube of 5mm or 6mm will fit perfect.
 HellyFlyer 1257 points
A 4mm heat shrink would be good for that
 the_age275 16 points

 rizka 90 points

 Joey 1 points
it depends on the actual thickness of the wire, and the insallation. I know for a fact that on turnigy batterys, 5mm, and 6mm work the best

 Marco 5 points

You need heat above 200 degrees Celsius to shrink the sleeve, preferably air. Please be aware that you can use your solder iron but it is not advisable as it may melt the sleeve and cause a nasty smell. I prefer to use a butane burner or normal cigarette lighter and not the heatgun.

You can never say when they will get it. On the product page it states "early April", but that might change. If you need the rest of your order quick, just write a mail to customer service or use the live chat. They can remove this item from your order and credit it back to your account.

hi greeny, last time it took two weeks

I replaced 4mm red, which was out of stock, too an additional 4mm black, which was in stock, just too but loose an order without any problem, because the cost and weight are identical.

It is in stock now! Grab it! It is very good shrink tube, i like to use them in DIY projects. Grab it for this price!

Great shrink tube at a fraction of the cost from other places. And yes, it is always a pain when HK runs out of something - I have yet to master the fine art of patience.
 Carlo 21 points
yeah dont worry.

normally you must wait within 7 to 30 days

I recommend that HK web developers implement functionality that would be not answer the question proposed to her and just disappear from the list of questions of our accounts, so we can do a better job. Could also be filtered the questions where the best answer already as been chosen. Unregistered users (Customer) should not be able to ask questions because they could not choose the best answer and give the 20c to someone.

What are you talking about. "implement functionality that would be not answer the question proposed to her" Sorry but it doesn't make sense. "Would be not answer the question" has no meaning and who is "her" you mention. Unregistered users can't answer or even ask questions and there is no such thing as the 20 cent bonus any more. I did notice that you have answered a number of questions which over 20 people had already answered and you answered with answers that had already been used. You have copied and pasted this post many times in the forum but what is the reason? Perhaps you could explain please.

Will this be wide enough to fit around a deans lead?
 Jewslox 65 points
I found that it does.
 JCape 25 points
Hi this is the right size for deans connectors and it shrinks well.
 JCape 25 points
This is the right size to fit deans
 Elli 37 points
Yes, I used it for deans. Perfect fit, little tight, but with heat shrink the tighter the better.
 Corleone 116 points
Indeed, of course relative to what wire gauge you're using on the deans plug. Fits easily with 16AWG and 14AWG silicone wire.
 bighead93 70 points
Depends on the gauge of wire.
 angel1 224 points
Yes it should .I like to use a pair of scissors or needle nose pliers and just open it up a little bit to give me a little more room to make it fit.
 Phil 16 points
it wont fit the housing but it will fit around the solder terminal.
 minirider42 41 points
it 's enough wide for one wire bur not for cover the entire plug
 jesc48 3 points
I use 8mm first and cover that with 10mm so its double bonded tightly.

4 thumbs up!
High quality !! Shrinks with low heat and doesn't get damaged when you overdo it a bit. I use this for shrinking the cables on Deans plugs. Remember to order red shrink tube as well for a professional look. Also ideal for 3.5mm bullet connectors.
