Only if you grind them down. You could also damage the wires if you grind the fins down. I would not remove them.

Very good deal. Ball bearings, strong, efficient, never gets hot.
In order to change the spinning direction from L to R swap any two wires when connecting to ESC. Also, in that case I would recommend to partially unscrew the front attachment plate, put few drops of lock-tight and screw it back in, as the change in spinning direction tends to unscrew the plate. I use 8x5 propeller with 3 LiPo cells and it seams to be working great.
