I'm in a quandary, I'm not sure if I should go with these props on my Xcopter or the 9x5 3 blade props. I'll be replacing some 8x3.8 slow fly props that are on it now. Has anyone used these on a quad or Xcopter?
Yes, I used 8x4x3 / 9x5x3 and I must say... it depends. The 8x4x3 I used in motor 2210 and the other in 2215 cause 2215 is stronger than 2210 and my xcopter is heavier than other.
I think the 8x4x3 could be ok for your xcopter.
* Always balance the props!
I'm running four FC 28-22 at 1200kv now with the 8x4x3 props and Wow! It seems the thrust has doubles but the stability has remained the same! I've not tried the 9x5x3s on it yet. But, with the 8x4x3s the static thrust and the prop stall thrust are almost equal at 41.37oz. and 41oz. respectively with this set up! Video to come!
A killer for both motors if you don't manage the throttle very well. Furthermore, those props wobble a lot at high KV. So the 2308N1100 should be fine. It should produce ~250 gr of thrust so on a tri you will get a total of 750 gr max. Your tri should not exceed the 400 gr all in all...
spinner? you mean motor? I use dt750 hextronik in my quadcopter. Very stable flighy. and there should be 4mm adapter step which is good for that motor.
Hard to find spinners for counter rotating 3-blade. I would use a GWS rubber spinner and cut out three slots* make sure the three slots lay out with 120 degrees angle, or using the propellor as template. Make sure the cut-out pieces have as identical shape to ensure minimal balancing. It is doable but takes a lot of trimming, trial-and-error. For scale-looking's sake, however, this work might worth it.
Thanks for your reply, Hubben. How can I calculate the right propeller for octo? How can I select lenght and picth, is there any guide? Thanks for your valuables comments.
Hi, there are some tools to calculate the right size props. If you search for "propeller calculator" on google you might get lucky. *-)
Personally I've found it best to experiment. Depending on the weight of your octo you'll need different props. You want to balance the lift capacity to the weight for best stability and performance. Larger props with more lifting capacity is not always better for your setup!
They work for Quads/Octos, but some report that two-blades will work better for more dynamic flight. At the price of the GWS, I have bought some too. No problems so far.
Hi,
yes it will perfectly fit because it has the same shaft diameter.
Here the shaft diameter is 3mm. But in fact neither of the shaf is really 3mm because it is 3.17mm for all the 3mm shafts.
Hope it helps.
I have used this 4 set counter and anti counter for my quodcopter with Towerpro motors.
It gives total more than 3kg thrust by combining all 4 props thrust.
Robust and good quality at cheap price.
*akshat: no way to get them fast...you'll have to wait :-( I made a separate order of stuff that I didn't need urgently and asked Customer Care to shift these props to the second order.
These props (note that you receive 2 pcs) are exact mirror of these: www.link
Thus the most natural application is two-motor plane with balanced prop momentum.
As for balance - my needed some - easily achieved just with Scotch Magic Tape. (but tested and balanced only with the simplest finger operated prop-balancer).
This is 3 blade 8x4 prop so for most rough estimates you can treat it as an equivalent to ca. 9x4 2 blade. As one can see - diameter to pitch more than 2 - prob with big thrust potential, but not for speed applications.
So generaly: very good product(especially in tandem with mentioned earlier normal 3 blade 8x4 prop).

Excellent prop ! Very well ballanced and more efficient than classic 2 blades props. I made some tests with a turnigy motor 1500kv, GWS 25A esc and 7.4V pack www.link - 47W - 5.4g/W 8×6" ky 330g 9.4A - 70W - 4.7g/W 9×4.7" GWS 397G 9.8A - 72W - 5.5g/W 3 Blade GWS 320g 7.4A - 54W - 5.9g/W 10×4.7 ky 426g 11.6A - 85W - 5.0g/w

5 thumbs up!
Bought a pack of rotating and a pack of normal 3-blade for my GWS P-38. These props are too soft to give sufficient thrust. Also have problem finding light weight 3-blade spinner to go along. In the end, just switched back to APC-style 2 blades.

This is a two-pack of reverse rotation props - not a set of one LH and one RH. These are very nicely molded and come with a full range of shaft sizing inserts.

Using one of these props on a MiniMag withone of the TP combos. It works great and has plenty of thrust! You have to reverse the motor for it to work properly but that's not a big deal :-) Great little things!
