Turnigy Marine 60A Brushless Boat ESC

Turnigy Marine 60A Brushless Boat ESC

TURNIGY marine ESCs are built with USA IR mosFETs for long run times and less heat.
Boat escs have a different requirement to air or car escs. Their need for sustained high-amp draw makes plane escs unsuitable and car escs with large amp spike capability, unnecessary.
Thats why TURNIGY marine escs are designed purely for boats, and coated in anti-static then water resistant laquer to prevent shorting should the esc get wet. They can handle sustained high amp/volt loads and handle heat better than a car or plane esc.
What makes this ESC better than others?
-Well designed MCU, with efficient code makes for faster sync and accurate timing.
-Fast clock cycle MCU combined with efficient code means 100,000rpm cpu cycle*
-Efficient FETs reduce heat and deliver sustained switching at high amp/voltage.
-Well designed PCB (6 layer) and circuit diagram handles high-amp without burnout.
-Large motor comptability. Smooth starts, linear throttle curve.
-Active water cooled heatsink that actually works.

The BEC of this ESC has output same voltage as the LiPo i connect to it. It fried my RX 2 times... I have to remove the middle cable (Red) and use external BEC. It works fine for 2 runs, and then it totally died. Let my boat in the middle of the lake, the ESC shrink tube is make a square hole because of veryhot IC in it. I pick this ESC for quality and long lifetime guaranted. Totally wasted of money...

I have the turnigy 5.0 5000mah 2c. Which female connector would I need? Please forgive my ignorance as I am new at this:) and for connecting to the battery these XT60 do they just plug into the bullet connectors? or solder them? I would prefer not to solder the battery for interchangeability reasons. Thanks
Thehoa  2 points - 2/24/2013

Hi Guys, I'm new at this. I got my new Turnigy lipo and Marine 60A esc. I would like to know what type pf connectors I would need. On the esc there is 3 bullet connectors and 2 wires (black and red).. On the LIPO it has a balck and red bullet connector. I like to use connectors I dont have to soder if possible. Thx,
 Yohana 35 points
You need the XT60 Female Connector for the ESC, pls see PRODUCT ID: XT60 (make sure it's identical to ur battery). U will also need a 4MM shrink tube, a soldering iron, and some tenol. It's really easy to attach the connector.

Hi I want 2 of this esc for my sons mini cat 820p rc boat would this work it has dual 28mm 2810kv motors I want to run on 3s only
 Yohana 35 points
Yes, it will work with 3S setups... Just make sure ur son's boat doesnt draw more than 60A for each motor. And this esc is good to go... Im using this ESC with my Centurion Cat, it draws 55A in 4S and 35A in 3S. I'm using B2445 3500kv motor with 32mm P1.4 prop. The ESC runs very cool too.

wheres the link?
 Yohana 35 points
You can see the FILES tab above... there's a manual in there... You can also see the manual that comes with ur ESC. It's really easy to program, u just need to listen to the BEEP-BEEP Sound... Trust me, i'm a newbie too...
Kieran  21 points - 2/16/2013

How do u program the auto cut off for low batery?
 MikeHammond 21 points
Here´s a link for you for the instructions. Programming this ESC is really easy just using your transmitter! www.link
 Yohana 35 points
you can download the manual in FILES section above... It's SEAKING 60A ESC.
lweber  14 points - 1/30/2013

I used an XT60 connector for the battery as this connector is common with some batteries from HK. The motor connectors are 3.5mm which is pretty common for that size motor.
Kieran  21 points - 1/27/2013

does it come with a programming card
 MikeHammond 21 points
No it does not. But it´*s really easy to program. Just pay attention to those beep sounds!
 Charles 32 points
Programming card il useless. As MikeHammond said it's easy to program with your Tx
 Yohana 35 points
Yes, agree with Hammond & Charles... This ESC is easy to program... Just listen to the beep sounds... You can read the manual comes with it, it's easy to learn. No rocket scientist needed here...
 ShamrinHM 514 points
You can use these Programming Card PRODUCT ID: TG-Prog..its working on all Turnigy Marine ESC and Seaking too..hope this help.
Kieran  21 points - 1/26/2013

Help... My ESC 3wires which connected to Rx has the same voltage as my battery... If i measure the black & red it shows 14.8v, black and signal cable show about 5v. I use a 4S battery. I dont know why that happened, but i think my Rx has just burnt away... Pls help.
 Yohana 35 points
and if i mount just the Battery, ESC, and Motor. It sounds Beep.. Beep.. Beep.. Beep.. Beep.. Beep..... Whats happening here???
 Charles 32 points
It sounds Beep.. Beep.. Beep.. because there is no incomming signal detected from the Rx You should contact hobbyking for your BEC problem

Just got my ESC. Im wondering what Receiver to use? Is there a good waterproof receiver that comes as a kit including a transmitter for sale here on hobby king? What should I get?
 Byron 1 points
plenty mate look under tx/rx if its for a speed boat the hobby king gun grip transmiters and recevers are great and a great price too! recevers are always a bit dodgy round water always put them in a baloon or a condom and seal the end with a rubber band or rip ties, dont use plastic as it sweats and you will get moisture build up and it will ruin your recever
 KillerRaunZ 2 points
I simply use small plastic bag ... works well for me.
 ramon alberto 26 points
it dosent matter, the best way to get an real water proof esc its removing the heat sink and plastic and painted with epoxy resin and later sand where was the heat sink and put it again, believeme i build submarines
 Harry S. 80 points
Balloons work with a piece of bread or silicon or a piece of roll towel, don't laugh. Also i found using saran wrap did best with a piece of roll towel.**-Waterproof esc- that's a real bug-a-lou for boaters. Now Andy Kunz with his brushed escs used 270 liquid and it did the job. I used a HK esc and Corrosion-x and you know what happened. dead duck. Now Jr. brushed rx's with Corrosion-x worked out great. There has to be an answer as i tried HK esc earlier in my post and told you the results.I just wonder if Corrosion-x was left to dry for x-amount of time is the answer. My wallet is empty.

what is the weight of the ESC?
 magnusEl 1215 points
82 grams. That includs 3 pcs, 4mm female connectors mounted on the motor side wires.
MattiaModellismo  6 points - 6/14/2012

How is the ESC programmed when it arrives? Lipo Cut-Off?? Reverse? Timing? please help me, i read that the programming card comes almost always broken!
 jeffrey 669 points
Its default values out of the box are Forward and reverse,2.8v/cell Lipo protect,Soft Brake, and 15 degrees timing.Hope this helps.JK.
 magnusEl 1215 points
According to the included manual for this ESC that I recived a few days ago, the default settings are,
Running mode,Forward Only
LiPo cells, Auto Calculate
LowVoltage Cutoff, 3,2V/Cell
Timing, 15 degrees

The first manual under the "files" tab is not up-to-date...
 ramon alberto 26 points
its very friendly the program interface without the card dont be scared its not like some esc that you need to be a musican to set it up

Easy to program once you figure out you have to turn it off after programming each value. Runs cool and doesn't seem to have a problem pushing a 31" Deep-V. Good throttle control and I haven't had a problem with low speed maneuvering. Good ESC for the money.

4 thumbs up!
I'm using this esc in a reef racer 2:) Fits no worries. Motor is HXT2445 - 3790kv, battery 2s 1050MaH 40c rhino. Everything else stock, stock prop, & my old AM radio.
Our first run produced much laughter as the little reef racer took off like a rat up a drain pipe.
FAR TOO MUCH POWER, but most excellent fun:) No heat with this baby in a mini boat. Very safe.
We ran the boat in salt water in tiny surf @ Botany Bay. Full power off the mark just barrel rolled the beast. We abused the reef racer to the max for 5 minutes till the stock servo had enough:(
Great esc in my setup. I would be no where near 60 amp and she'll handle 120!!
Also fast postage option to Sydney was here in 2 working days:)
Good work Hobby King, thanks.
