I have 2 of these servo in use for almost a year now
in a 1.2m foamy on rudder and elevator ,never have had any problem with them ,and they have all been through a lot of abuse ,they are very silent .
Good servo can certainly recommend .
I have 3 of these servo in my Black horse Liberty with 1445 wingspam, and never had any problem with them, i fly with this plane about 3 years and this servo worked fine very strong in radical fly, good servo for medium planes for a lowest price 5 stars, I recomend this turnigy staf.
Before buying this product i was also in doubt. But after testing I was relly shocked by it perfromance.
In first test i noticed some noise. Then i checked it is due to the bad transmitter. Then i upgrade my transmitter and it worked pretty fine.
Before using it u check ur plain max load on it.
TR-1160A - Performance of this servo (speed and torque) is on 6V. But why are this values different from speed and torque of the same servo from DE Warehouse?
Bought two for ailerons in a E-Flite Stearman. Stripped the small pinion gear in one servo while bench testing. No - the gears are not interchangeable with HXT900 or any 9gr servo.
directly don't use it with 7.4 volt lipo.As it might cause damage. If u want to use directly with 7.4 lipo then use a 5 volt voltage regulator .This regulator is very cheap. It conerts 7.4 volt to 5 volt output which is require input voltage for any servo.
Can anyone tell me the performance/quality differences (other than small size differences and those I have noted below) between the Turnigy TR1160A, Turnigy S3101S and the Turnigy S3317B servos. The TR1160A cost $2.00 less than the other two servos and has 0.02 kg more torque. The S3317B has ball-bearings and cost a little less than the S3101S. I know I must be missing something because it appears as the cost goes up the servo features/performance goes down.
Does anyone know for sure if the posted dimensions are stated INCLUDING the mounting ledge(where the screws go to hold em down)????? I need to know how they measure their servos. Most do not include the mounting lip. Need to be sure here... THANK YOU
Hi, the dimensions doesn´t include mounting lip. I have just measured the dimensions and they are : 29,5mm without lips and 40,5mm with both lips, height is 33,5mm without screw on the top and the thicknes is 11,7mm. I have this servo and it looks realy good
I put these in the ailerons of an edge540. They will skip when pushed a little and centering was horible. I used them for a few flights but it was just to annoying to have to adjust my trim over and over because of bad centering. I recomend them for only foamy aircraft.

60 thumbs up!
I have two and both move in large steps and have a lot of noise in neutral position. Low price but low quality so I will try other better options from HC.

Just brought couple of this TR1160A to try out. Beside the low cost, this servo fails on precsion and resolution in compare to the Hitec HS-81 or the best deal HXT900 micro servo. I use a servo driver and a Y cable to test and compare two servos together. Centering is no good, steps are jumping on varies positions and much more jittering in compare to HXT900, HS-81 and HXT 6.9Kg standard servo. Keep searching for a cheap mid size servo.

I am disappointed by these servos because the centering is really BAD !!!
Leider ist die Rückstellgenauigkeit dieser Servos ziemlich schlecht.

I bought 8 of these. I have been using them with a speed controller and found them to have poor resolution. They center well but move in large steps. Good for rudder or throttle but don't put these on an elevator - they won't do slight movements needed to trim.
