Hi,

Could I use this battery to fly my micro helicopter? the heli has a 150mAh and i am getting sick of 10min flight time.

Thanks.
 Drugos 1975 points
In my opinion you should use a 150-200 mah li-po battery. If you use a 400 mAh one your helicopter will not fly because it is too heavy.

Thanks for your advice!

Yes,of course.
 Moritz 8 points
yes you can *) me and my friend do it and it works well, but you have to know. if you want du get an higher voltage you have to put it in serial, to get more power you have to put it parallel. my tip is to use an balance adapter for saver charging *)
 Siarhei 2 points
Yes. you can find scheme on Internet. but you have to buy balance and charge connectors.

**Is the max charge rate for these cells 1C/400mah?** Sure would be nice if they were 2C charge rated...lol...now we're spoiled, with all the "5C" rated batteries...
 maukabud 408 points
OMG nevermind...it's right up there in the specs...2C *blush*
 Jens 46 points
maukabud, even it's at your own risk, i'm charging 2c without any failure and have done so for a long time with different lipo's in the market. BUT BE SURE TO USE A QUALITY CHARGER.

Is this one actually 20C? Will it give 8A?
A.J. Van der Plas 87 points
yes, it will give you 8amps continoues. It'll probably give you a burst, but I didn't tried that yet.

I haven't measured current but it certainly seems 20C. Very good power in a 4G3. Not quite as much as oversky, but longer flights.
 Walter 5 points
Of cause it will, but only for about 3minutes.
A.J. Van der Plas 87 points
yes, it's 20c. You can solder them togheter to make a cheap 400mAh 20c battery. Like 2, 3 or even 4 cells!
 Jens 46 points
yep, nearly almost, mine is 1 year old now and are down at 7,2A

Are these batteries come with connectors? If not. Where can I find them?
 condor11 20 points
No connectors.
 Daniel 10 points
This batteries are without connectors!
 Siarhei 2 points
no connectors in box.
it depends on how many cells you plan to compose from this batt. if you want to use it as a single cell - you can buy something like Pico plug, for 2S or 3S - JST plugs.
Find everything here in catalog:
Hardware & accessories->Wires & Plugs->Battery/ESC/Motor Connectors
or
Battery Chargers & Acc.->Charge Leads

Has anyone used one of these on the Novus CX?
 Siarhei 2 points
no, but i use it on my micro co-ax copter. awesome! 17 min in the air. Just has ordered 6 more to make a couple of lightweight 3S lipo-s for 3D BiPlane

Thank you very much for your answers !

If i understand, the stock 400mAh cells are charged at 1.25C ?

So i can charge these batteries but this is not the best way...
Which simple charger model can i buy (for submicro heli like 4#3b, 4g3..)?

Best Regards.
 Beaufighter 1808 points
Actually you have to buy an "advanced" charger to charge at such low current. Most "cheapos" are 500 to 800mA.

The Turnigy accucel 6 is probably the cheapest which can charge from 100mA and upwards (search for "accucel" in the quick search). It is neccessary with a 12V supply for this charger (car battery or a separate powersupply) There is a cheap (around 10$) 12V 5A supply here, it should be more than enough.

Just a warning, charging above 1C may cause battery to heat up, puff, catch fire or even explode (unless battery is rated for higher charge current, some are), and will reduce lifecycle drastically. In any circumstance, charge your batteries someplace firesafe, and allways keep watch while charging.

Hello,

Can i charge these batteries with a stock walkera 4#3b charger (output 2v, 500mA), or it needs a "real" charger ? Which one ?

Thanks.
 Beaufighter 1808 points
In general, a lipo must never be charged more than 1C (that is 1 times the capacity), so your 500ma charger is bit too big for a 400mah battery.

Btw, 2V is not charging voltage for lipo, 3.7V pr cell.

Buy a specialized LIPO charger:)
 Andy23 315 points
Dear Laurent,
the charger you have (for Walkera 4#3b) charges the original 3,7V 400mah cells, so you can youse them for these 400mah cells too. But normaly you´ve to charge a lipo with 1C or less, in this case with 400mah or less. You CAN upgrad this at your own risk - but its not recommended! But i charge all my lipos at 1-1,25C, no problems - till yet!
Best Regards
Andy
 Daniel 10 points
You can use the sock charger! i use them too! It is no problem and works
Ken  46 points -

I soldered them just fine, thanks!
jacques91  47 points -

Hi Ken. Have planty of these kind of cells 180, 200 and 300mA/h). The +/- leads are still ready to tin soldier.
You only need usal soldier and a little iron.
First put a drop of solder on each batteries leads. Do the same on your wires and join both.
At this time, it could be convenient to put a little drop of "soldier-past" (product for plombers) on batterie lead.
Make isolation with rubbers and take care in the short circuits during all the operation.

5 thumbs up!
Hi,
tested 6 cells, they all have 415-420mah with a discharge rate of 1A. Tested with a discharge rate of 5,5A (max. charger can handle) they don´t drop under 7V in the first 30 seconds. Very good cells for indoor flying, i´ve made a battery pack with 22 gramm including 2mm plugs and balancer plug!
Great!!!

4 thumbs up!
Works great on the Walkera 4#3B. Battery tray modification not needed, just need to wiggle/adjust the battery forward under the stops up into the canopy.
These can be soldered with regular electrical solder, just be sure to use a heat sink on the tabs while soldering! Will buy more with my next purchase!

3 thumbs up!
Shipment took one week to get to Canada registered mail! Great timing. I tried them in my 4#3B and hovered 1m for 7-8 min. Stock battery lasted 5 min. Bought 6, only had time to try 3 but I am confident the others work great too. At half the cost of stock they are well worth it!!!!!!!
