Turnigy Power Unit for Large scale models.
In large scale planes safety is paramount. Thats why you need a strong power system with dual regulators to ensure uninterrupted control.

I'm using a Hobbyking esc 70A/SBEC 4A and 4 metal gear servos 51g 15288A. The rx is a $pektrum and it begin flashing when I use all servos. I figured it drains too much amp so I installed instead a battery pack with the same result. Will this power unit correct my problem? What should I do about the ESC SBEC? Leave it connected?
if the esc/sbec are using the same battery, then you need to disconnect the middle wire ( ), then the esc will only have (-) and signal wire connected to the throttle channel. You will need another battery to feed this power unit.
This power unit has its own BEC.
There is a bit of speculation and mis-information about this product here. Let's see if I can clear a few things up.
First:
This is NOT a "four channels" only product.
Rather it provides 8 amps of power to four sets of pin-outs. You can use this device as you wish for MORE than four channels... read on.
Second:
The "input" side also provides 5 amps of power to your connected device.
So if you plug your receiver's aileron output to one of the power unit's input channels, your receiver and everything connected to it, get 5A of power.
Third:
Treat the "input" pins as power sources.
Fourth:
It works fine and maybe best with 3S LiPo packs. Regulators have better "reserves" when the supply voltage is on the higher side of their specified range.
Fifth:
6.2 - 6.7 volts is perfect for 6v servos.
Remember that these devices are designed to work with 6v battery packs. On a fully charged 6v battery the voltage will go as high as 8.2v initially. It drops off once a load is put on the battery.
6.2 - 6.7 is well within specs for 6v devices.
Sixth:
Why do you need this Ubec?
If you fly a larger plane with many servos, a single battery pack alone is usually not enough to keep up with the demands.
This device permits you to power many high draw servos out of one much lighter LiPo battery.

I wanted to power a 50cc biplane and used this unit with great success. I hooked up one aileron channel of the RX to channel 1 input on the power unit. I hooked up the other aileron channel ( so I can get differential ) to channel 2 input on the power unit. I hooked up the ailerons via two"Y" cables to power four servos. I also have a high torque choke servo in place which I hooked up to output channel 3 on the power unit, and Aux2 on my receiver. I also hooked up my rudder channel to the remaining output and input....
So six servos, on four channels being powered via the 8A output.
Then I hooked up TWO aileron servos to my RX on different channels, as well as throttle, smoke pump, etc.
The RX receives 5A of power from this unit, so I have a total of seven channels and 9 servos being powered from the power unit.
Again:
Six servos four input channels on the 8A supply, Three servos three input channels on the 5A supply.
In fact I asked a question and when will come power box I shall try I shall show the scheme of connection and I shall write, and I shall not say lies now, but I know one that will work.
i think that hobby king should get in larger units of these power units.there innot enough to plug into.i need at least 2 aux and one for gear then thay would be alot more suited to larger scale planes.i hope you read this hobby king.keep up the good work and please keep your prices low so you can stay alive.
oK, so the point of this unit, is to provide a higher voltage output to the servos? With a voltage regulator, that also regulates Rx voltage? Wouldn't the Higher Voltage to the servos, cause faster battery drain, & hot servos? Which servos are up to 7v? This does not say what type of batteries are compatible with this unit. Only Voltage. More information would be nice on most the products that HobbyKing sells. Specifics are always important.

Hi, This will be a ideal product for a 4 channel 5 servo plane, not recommended for large gas planes, instead use a dual power supply to Reciever and more channels. This is a stop gap setup for a powerbox. Hope most of you will agree. Thanks and Regards Rajesh N
There are servos up to 7V . The higher voltage you send to the servo the higher speed response and torque you get. At this point the device is very good.
It sounds very promising to me because you can use a Lipo battery to power your battery safely and give more juice to your servos. 4 channels is plenty to power Elevator, Rudder, right aleron and left aleron. Everything else can still be powered by the receiver like throttle or gear because they are lower drain applications. As long as it does what is says then this will be an excelent product.
do you know many big planes with one elevator servo? All the ones i know have 2. And gas servo in petrol engines is high drain also. At least on my CRRCpro 26cc the moving parts wich the servo push to open gas is very tight
If your throttle servo is high drain then you need to fix the linkages or cut down the spring on the butterfly valve because it does not need to be that strong. Also 2 of these could be used very effectivley.
So do you run your TWO elevator on seperate channels ???NO even if you have two elevator servo's you run them with a Y lead = ONE CHANNEL....DoH use this for... RUDDER ELEVATOR AILERON with a Y lead .....OR two AILERONS Any other functions are run off the reciever....when all else fails........read the instructions and engage brain
Yes i use tho different channels for elevator because i need to trim them different. And if you put the Y lead one servo will move elevator up and the other down , so maybe you are the one to engage the brain. Or maybe better , buy a real gas plane and learn. I dont trust foamies users posts in products designed for planes wich cost mores than 600$ some times.
If you put two servos on a Y they will never move in the opposite direction... (you need a servo reverse to do that) I know that, and have not flown gassers for 15 years:)
Yes, of course, me and the pros always-always use on channel for each servo, adjusting is easily set up, and for safety reasons to, y-lead is a failure point, and also many high drain servos use to much current for an y-lead anyway. And gasoline carb spring is thight and shall be tight, also for safety reasons. When that is said you could/should use two of this regulators, then it shold be OK, exept that i read that the switch is closed when in ON position. Switch for gassers should be in ON position when open, again for safety reasons. (the 15A Turnigy regs are made that way..)
Dont buy it , is a waste of money. 4 channels only . so you only can plug 4 servos (or more but in the same surface and an Y cable). I´m very dissapointed , now i dont know what to do with it , is like throwing 30$ to the bin because is too heavy for small planes with less channels.
Hi There : This unit is usefull for great scale planes and you put This betwin a lipo bat, and the most comsuption servos like ruder,and elevator . You dont need extra feed in gas or variable nedle,this servos are fedded directly from the receptor. Is a very usefull sustitute for the more expensive EMCOTEC. Thanks Paloma
Servos in Servos out on/off Power supply Power switch Looks pretty simple. I will be trying one out really soon and will post comments and photos here when I do.
I suppose for the price you could use two or more. Also you could then split the controls between them -in case of a failure. Anyway I've ordered one to evaluate, so watch this space - as they say

Colocando dos, con dos baterias independientes se dispone de una centralita economica de 8 canales, que funcionan aunque falle una de las baterias.

Il manque aumoins une voie ( 2 profs, 2 ailerons et la dérive => 5 servos coupleux minimum ). Sinon ce module est une solution économique pour éviter d'investir dans une box beaucoup plus chère ( Power.... Smart.....Blue....). Et pour finir une prise Dean de bonne qualité sur l'entrée du module. A noter pas d'info sur le courant en pointe admissible. En tout cas, je vais la monter dans un Yak de 2.2m avec un récepteur R617FS Futaba. A suivre
Lo coloqu en mi Extra 220 y funcina perfectamente. Alimentando los servos de gran conumo atravs de la unidad (elevador , alerones y timn) y el resto directamente al receptor, aunque a mi juicio no estara de ms algn canal ms y adems gestiona la corriente de las lipos perfectamente.

Regulator itself, working fine, 4ch support is enough for heavy current sucking servos. I put this on my 50cc gas G-202. Two elev servos and Ails servos are connected through this regulator. other servos are connected as normal (direct from receiver). The only problem is the on/off switch configulation for this regulator. Short the circuit by turn slide switch move to 'on' position. Which is little concern for disconnect or contact problem
