I bought a few things from AUS warehouse and received the package yesterday including this Zippy FlightMax 5000mah 4S1P 25C. The battery was defective. Both sides of the battery were swollen and the battery voltage was very low(this 14.8v battery was around 11v without charging, the rest 11.1v batteries showed alright). The internal resistance of this battery I got seemed very high. I haven't used the battery because my charger connector was not compatible. I only checked it with the multi-meter. It might be just my bad luck. Sigh, I don't know how long the replacement will take if I send it back to AUS warehouse and how much postage it will cost me. Please don't tell me I have to send it back to Hongkong or China. Already sent a ticket in support centre and haven't got a reply yet. :(

Can I charge this battery with more than 10A ?
 aJS32 282 points
Hi. If the question is if you CAN, then you defenetly can do it, but it, with very high possibility, will end up in a big BOOM :). The 2C for Lipos is maximum charge rate (well, there are some batteries, which can handle higher charge rates, but they cost more, it will be specified on the battery and such charge will decrease lipo's life time dramatically) which should not be exceeded. But the best solution is 1C. Regards!

Thanks for the help, I was confused because I have also Zippy 4s 8000 30C and there it says that they can be charged at 5C.
 aJS32 282 points
You are welcome. Yes, there are batteries, which can be charged with such big currents, but it is not good for the battery. Regards.

To add to the aJS32 truth, running batterys right at there max discharge rate will also decrease the life. You gotta consider WHAT you are paying for. For me, I'm paying for having fun, not running a slow vehicle or waiting forever for a battery to charge, so I buy batteries rated for 5C charge and charge them at 3C, which is approx 20min. 1C may be best for the battery, but for the price I paid for it, it will last my money's worth and keep my vehicle moving. These I charge at the max 2C (approx 30min) and haven't had a drop in performance yet...that I've noticed. So for me, most batties on HK are cheap enough to be worth sacrificing a little lifespan by charging near or at their max charge rate. I try to keep enough packs so that I never have to charge them more than twice in a given day.

What is the actual size of this pack? I see in the reviews claim it is larger than 47mm. Basically, want to fit this pack in an E-Revo. Thanks!
 Steven 2 points
it is a little larger than 47mm but not by an awful lot if you have enough room for 55mm then this is perfect that will also allow slight swelling of the battery if run down to low.

Boris,
If your looking to use them where you need the 35C rating your right about 2C not being available but if your not looking for a high C rating they do exist. I use the 20C 5000 MaH 2C for flight packs.

Has anybody opend one of the zippy packs to see if the single cells are glued together? I need 2S 4000mA. If I can seperat them I just buy a 4s.
There are no 2s 4000mA or 5000mA!!

Fast delivery and excellent service, but battery dimensions doesn't match to specifications. The battery is 51mm wide not 47mm.

I have had the zippy-h 5000 for a while now. if these packs hold up the same they are a great buy. NOTE: only the shrink wrap hold these cells together. I cut the shrink off mine and double side taped together and wrapped back up with gorilla duct tape. I run these in my 1/8 conversions and the banging and moving would make the cells move around. GREAT PRICE FOR THE PERFORMANCE!

Zippy does it again. These 5000mah 4s packs deliver a steady 125 amps and maintained over 14.8v for over 3 minutes without exceeding 109 degs during a bench test. I then used 2 of these packs in series for my 90mm EDF Jet where during the 5 minute flight they held an average 29.1v of hard flying without any problems. The batteries came back barely warm after some hard full throttle flying. Great packs Hobby City.

These packs fit great in a Losi 8 battery tray with plenty of room for adjustment. They run great with plenty of power.
