Hi, thanx, newtohobbyking ,what are my options to achieve failsafe with this radio combo.I have a t-six with failsafe receiver. Is there one available for the 9x ?
 v_max 4733 points
If yousing with FC then you do not need FS feature. In facj this RX stops sending PWM on signall loss. All flight controllers will trigger it's failsafe function on this condition
 NewToHobbyKing 15385 points
BB thanks. V-Max so are you saying it stays where you loose signal or does it do the job of a failsafe and send the controls to a preset condition??? FC = ?????
 Miguel FP 1709 points
I think FC= flight controller, and if you are using one that has fail safe programming, it will trigger when signal is lost as max says. But the stock reciever doesn't have fali safe,
 v_max 4733 points
It's stops sending PWM at all.(checked with oscilloscope)... FC (flight controller) detetcts this as RX is off and trigger failsafe.
 NewToHobbyKing 15385 points
V-max that is if you are using a Flight Controller Board (FCB) but what if you have a plane just with a Receiver???
 handyjap 648 points
If you are using "Turnigy 9X 2.4GHz 8Ch Receiver (V2)" PRODUCT ID: RX-9X8Cv2, you can use "Turnigy Signal Loss and Low Battery Fail safe" PRODUCT ID: 9372000010-0. If you use "Hobby King 2.4Ghz Receiver 6Ch V2" PRODUCT ID: HK-T6A-V2, fail save does not work at all as the receiver keeps the last input as output when signal is lost.

NewToHobbyKing, quoting my first answer "If yousing with FC then you do not need FS feature." ... opss typo... should be jusst "using"

Hi. Which kind of battery can i use for this? Is it possible to use Nimh or do I need a LiPo?
 v_max 4733 points
tx has battery holder for 8AA size batteries.. NiMh are OK ... but 3S lipo is better .. Rhino 2650 tx pack is most capacitive battery which fits battery compartment (100x32x30mm) ... You can use any other 3S lipo which fits this sizes
 NewToHobbyKing 15385 points
Matthias 8 x AA is the standard setup. It comes with a 8 x AA battery holder. So you can use One Use AAs or Rechargeable AAs. NiMh are fine. I do like Turnigy Rechargeable Battery AA 2400mAh NiMH SKU: 9169000001 (These are LSD = Low Self Disharge but still only 1.2v ok!). I really like Turnigy AA Ni-ZN 1500mAh High Voltage SKU: 9169000003 (Wow 1.6v cool).

I use this battery with my Turnigy 9X, works very
bingbong  12 points - 3/28/2015
hi, does this support failsafe
 NewToHobbyKing 15385 points
Bingbong sadly No. So you will need to fit an external one if you want one. (And after the other day you do want one).

Can someone confirm whether it is compatible with FlySky FS-iA6 micro RX? If not compatible can someone suggest a similar micro RX to be used with 9x v2? Thanks
 BangerUpBixler 163 points
Hi Derek, I am fairly sure that that receiver will not work with the Turnigy 9x. I think it will work for the Turnigy TGY-i6 transmitter. But there is a HK 6ch receiver that will with the 9x - Product ID HK-T6A-V2. The other thing you might consider is switching over the standard 9x module in the back of you transmitter for a FrSky module (Search FrSky DJT 2.4Ghz Combo Pack for JR). Then you can use a wide range of FrSky receivers with and without telemetry. The FrSky system is a lot more stable and provides fail safe options standard. But if not the HK-T6A-V2 are an economical and compact option for you. Cheers Michael

Thank you Michael for your reply. The FrSky seem to be a reasonable option as it is not expensive considering it is a combo pack. The only concern is that the receiver is quite bulky to fit on my Turnigy micro quad v3. Do you know of any micro Frsky Rx? Thanks !
 BangerUpBixler 163 points
Thanks for the credit, much appreciated. Depending on how many channels you need there is a few compact and micro options in the FrSky range. If you put FrSky into the search you will see a few available here. Some with and some without telemetry too. Cheers Michael

I am using an ASSAN hacker modulewith the 9X Tx.
With no recievers available I hooked up the Hacker as follows:
1- Top Pin signal
2- no connection
3- Red plus
4- Black -
5- no connection.

You can see photo's at only gave it 4 stars as the TX did not work as recieved, one of the wires to the dual rate switch was not connected, an easy fix.

I'd give this radio a 5 star rating but there are a few minor things that subtract points.
-One is that putting the batteries is a hassle, the 8 AA cell holder is OK, but the cable gets on the way of the cover and it takes a while to be able to close it, there's a lot of pinching of the cables involved so I shouldn't wonder if the insulation fails sooner or later requiring a replacement of the cables.
-Second is the very annoying and loud BEEEEP!!! you get with every-single-click you do on the buttons, seriously stressing to set up the radio at home, not good for conjugal life. To fix that I cut the leg that goes from a transistor to the speaker and added a 220 Ohm resistor in between.
-Third, no manual comes with the radio.
-Fourth setting up a V-Tail was a mind bending affair, I succeeded but I couldn't grok the logic of the procedure.

Besides those things it's a good product.

I purchased this transmitter & Assan XJ8 module from HC. First I got around the switch error bug (thanks to that reviewer)
For me the Assan XJ8 just flashes red once on start up, but gives no steady red LED & will not go into pairing mode.
Assan say they don't know the problem & suggest putting XJ8 in another TX (I don't have one)
Anyone know how to test if TGY 9X or Assan is the problem? Thanks

Great range - over 3000m, but realy to big receiver. Also dont like to small battery compartment, and antenna linked with wire.
You Also can't mix with AUX cahnnels - you can oly mix first 4 cahnells. No manual - It could be at least link at this product to download manual for Turnigy 9x. Also don,t like that this transsmiter in almost never in stock, or that there smaller 6 ch receivers I waiting for more 3 months So from me only 3 stars.
