Hi, i bought a Hobby King Brushless Car ESC 100A for my LRP car, and i put a 3S Lipo in the car with a a Trackstar motor 11T* at first time, i try to install the ESC, and when i try to accelerate, y can`t it !! in the ESC, it appears a red led on and the ESC doesn't make anything * is there any person have idea about this problem?? thank you.
No ,it doesn't beep, it doesn't make anything* i switch on the ESC, it appears a red led and doesn't beep* i can't accelerate, only i can't move direction servo* what could be the problem? thank you for you reply.
Sounds nasty. You can't move direction servo? No power to receiver...maybe? Ok, lets get down and dirty. Remember to be really careful to avoid slips and shorts doing the following tests.
[BEC test]
Got a multimeter? Get it. Put the receiver aside for now. Check for 5.5v at the ESC's receiver plug, black and red wires, ESC connected to battery motor and turned on. At this point the motor itself should start beeping and twitching slightly with each beep.
[Power switch test]
No volts? Try unplugging the ESC's power switch and shorting the two pins directly (use a jumper if you got one, flat bladed screwdriver will do). The original power switch on my unit turned out to be really dodgy.
[Motor check]
Nothing yet? Disconnect the motor and check the resistance between each (3) pairs of wires is close to zero. Reconnect and double check all three motor connections are firm and electrically sound. Try powering up and switching on (or shorting power switch) again.
[Logic supply check]
Still nothing? Check voltage between battery negative and the switch's plug pins. If you see full battery voltage on either of those pins (normal) we can presume the fault is internal :(
If I am reading correctly you have a led on the ESC lighting up and your steering servo is working, this would indicate that you have power to the ESC and the Problem is either the connection between the ESC and motor or your ESC is faulty. If you have access to another ESC, motor, receiver then try swapping individual component to try and find the problem, I would start by swapping the ESC first.
I have not long ago purchased a 2wd brushless desert racing buggy.
I need to replace the speed controller and fan unit, will this unit be the best or can someone point me the right direction,
Please forgive I am only. New to this
I am running 5000 milli amp batteries 2s lipo.
Thanks
Will this ESC work with a HBX Rocket Pro 1/10th Brushless? The orginal ESC is a Lansu 90A, 7.4V brushless - part number e014d.
If it is suitable, is it a difficult job to install?
Any help/comments are appreciated.
If everything was wired correctly as you say and there was no shorts and the motor isn't faulty then its really hard to say what went wrong other than a faulty ESC.
Hi, newbie question, still wet behind the ears! I hooked this up to brand new Mystery 5.5 turn 6000kv brushless sensorless motor powered by Turnigy Nano-Tech 3s 5000mAh Li-po battery. Fitted to hsp 1/10 monster truck. Wired it all up correctly, a b & c wires corresponding, jst plugs around the right way. Once i'd done the throttle range calibration, I held truck in hands and accelerated forwards and backwards no worries. Took it outside and once i'd placed truck on road, it didn't wanna accelerate! Switched it off and back on after a minute or so, then it went through its "everything's ok" tones, and PUFF! smoke came outta esc and it stopped working all together, only had steering still working. WHAT HAPPENED? Any help/comment are appreciated.
Hi. I believe i have everything installed and calibrated correctly, but the ESC defaults to full throttle in the event of signal loss. Is there some way to calibrate this?
Can anyone help me with the above question? Why does this ESC keep defaulting to full throttle when the RX looses signal? I can't find any documentation to adjust/fix this?
Hi. Can I use this ESC with NTM Prop Drive 50-60 Series 270KV or 380KV motor but with reduced voltage of under 15V? I'm making a kind of lifting device with alternating loads. I read here on hobbyking that car ESC are best suited for that.
Yes you can. You won't get much rpm with that arangement, and with out a motor sensor you will get "cogging". best would be to retrofit a motor sensor and use the sensored feature of a car esc able of handling large "burst" current and 2s. Good luck.
The practical limit on 3s LiPo is around 5000 to 6000 kv. You probably won't find a motor rated for 3s with a kv any higher than that. Some esc's have a limit on pole count, and as you go up past 7000 kv or so, most are 2 pole motors(some are 4 pole)which some esc's can't handle. Hope this helps.
Thank you nukii, but that does not work either. (Both Red and Green lights flash continuously) However, someone said TG-Prog works with this ESC, even though they are diff' Branding, is that even possible...Please, anyone?
Thanks you Guys, you are the best.
1. switch on your transmitter 2. press and hold! the set up button on the esc 3. Switch on the esc and wait until it start to blink red, release the button. 3. Press full trottle on the transmitter and wait to hear beep. 4. Give full brake on the transmitter it will beep again. 5. Release the trigger to neutral it will center and beep finaly wait for 4 sec. Switch off the ESC. Switch it on again and you are ready to go.
this esc is one of the best i have ever used. it will work fine on 3cells and maybe 4cells but be carfeful how you set up spur/pinion not to overload it.
This ESC is not specifically made for use with 4-pole motors and may not work as well as it should. You might be better off with the "Turnigy TrackStar 120A Brushless Short Course Truck ESC", designed for 4-pole motors.
hi Nicholas, i will not agree with you. i am using my ESC only with 4pole motors 3300kv and 4370kv on 3 and 4 cells and it works great.... I never buy 2pole motors, i think they are garbage in comparison with 4 poles. But this is only my opinion
Batteries charged? BEC switch on? Always check the silly stuff first. *-)
Check for power at the ESC end of the battery leads where they solder in to the ESC while the batteries are connected.
Check the BEC switch lead for damage and make sure it's not partly pulled from the ESC board.
Check for 5.5v out the servo plug with everything plugged in and turned on.
Let us know how you go.
I have this esc and program card, item 1 is cut off voltage, there is no pre configured entries, i can set the value from 0 to 49 volts, trouble is, i do not know if i am setting pack voltage or cell voltage for cut off, there is no manual to explain this, doe anyone know what the deal is with this.
I run this esc with a turnigy 1900 KV motor on 4s lipo, it work good the first time i use it but one week after, i want to run my truck and when i turn the switch on, the esc enter in programing mode. I have try diffrenet battery and also try to reprogram the esc with the transmitter but still the same problem. It was working fine when i switch it off and dont work when put it back on a fews day after ???
Piggyback soldered a jst connector on the tabs under the fan connection to run the motor cooling fan as there is no spare connection & didnt want to run the wire to the rx as its miles away, seems to run well and cool on my rustler vxl although was getting a bit coggy, not yet set up programming though, pic under "files" tab
Having a real problem setting this up. Following directions but just getting beeps and lights. Anybody have a "dumbed" down set of instructions out there? Running a DTX 4 pole, with stock Traxxas receiver, if thats worth any thought. Ran fine with the Duratrax Element speed control...............til it got wet and burned up.
Does anybody have any good ideas on mounting this esc? My velinion vxl-3s had specific mounting holes, this has nothing? I'm not sure velcro is ideal for bashing, would be nice to have something to solidly fix through.
You would be pushing the limits depending upon the weight of the buggy. I would recommend at least 120A constant for 1:8th scale buggy use. This is more of a really strong 1:10th scale ESC.
i have a big problem. Is not very good ESC
I rode it to stop, I tried to turn it on and it does not include the only constant flashing red light and does not stop just beep beep beep beep beep, very long time, what do I do? help me
This probably means the ESC does not detect any signal from the receiver.
You have need to turn your transmitter first.
Could be other reasons as well, e.g. lipo voltage, ...
Very nice car esc. was a breeze to setup without the program card. i have none of the issues that people here write about. it works as it should and cuttoff is perfekt. im using with 2,4ghz sanwa clone pistolgrip and 2-4cells lipos in mini e revo 1.16 will use with bigger cars and all types of motores. now please give us the two bigger versions :) best regards from kristian Denmark
