They are original (I think) I bought 6 sets and have replaced the gears in my HS5065 & HS65's and they work great. You will also need to get some Grease, Hitec sell small tubes for about $5. Also you will need to take off the bearing from the main gear since they dont supply a new bearing which is really tough to get off, be real careful otherwise it will break and your servo is then useless.

Also I have them in an Extreme Flight MXS and all the throws are the same as before, there is no play in the servos and they center perfectly but on that note be careful not to get grease in the pots or they won't center properly.

Yes, all the metal gears are exactly the same size. I have upgraded several servos after stripping the stock gears in the HS-65HB.

I have had my Hitech 65mg on order since July. I think they have not ordered these with Hitech may be they don't have a big enough order to get the purchase pricing they want and they don't want to carry extra stock But people will not buy on backorder - checkmate.

As long as it is original gears and not some "clones", it's still going to be cheaper than buying localy. Three of them would be just over the prise of one at my LHS. But you are right, helidirect sells them for $16 or something.
