I bought the turnigy desert racing buggy. I changed the original esc for the X-Car 45A Brushless Car ESC (sensored/sensorless). And now I want to make it faster, so should I put this motor? By the way, is this motor waterproof?
 euromen 29 points
You can use it, its good motor for this price. I dont test waterproof, but I think no

You will experience major cogging using this esc with a sensored motor. Altough the guy shows you on the video that it works, it just does not. Get the right pair right away. I just got it today installed it and it is just terrible. Keep sensored with sensored and vice versa
Marcelo  19 points - 9/30/2012

Can I use a trackstar 60A brushless esc ver II with this motor? The esc is for sensorless, and the motor is sensored.
 Dinukap4 253 points
You can mate! No problem at all.I use that motor with a ezrun 60A esc.

A am also looking at the "EZ-RUN Brushless Motor 9T 4300Kv" or "EZ-RUN Brushless Motor 10T 3900Kv" or "EZ-RUN Brushless Motor 12T 3300Kv" They all seem like good motors and the turns are all about the same range (lower turns higher torque faster off the start???) I don't want to strip my gears with too much torque. Thanks again
 Dinukap4 253 points
Lower Kv Higher turn = More torque Low top speed. Higher Kv Low Turns= Less torque High Top Speed.
get the ezrun 9T. I have the 9t and this motor and the 9t puts out more power though being smaller
Webmaven  49 points - 8/1/2012

Looking to get this motor for my 1/10 Short-course truck. The Gear Ratio on my truck is 8.038:1 (I am into planes so this is all new). I am also looking to get the HK 60A ESC and I plan to run this on 3s 2200, I also have 2s 1300 is this a good choice? Also my current Brushed 540 motor has a heat sink can I use that heat sink on this motor or do I need to get a fan one with a fan? I am looking for higher speed from this setup. Thanks for your help.

Hi,I'm using this motor with the HK-45A ESC in a 1:10 4wd short course truck and its cogging severely. Pinion is 23T and drive gear is 64T. What can I do to stop this??
 edward 7 points
hey, check all the wires are connected correctly (no dodgy links) and have you got the sensor wire plugged into the speedo ?
 Ozcopter 1 points
Hi and thanks for your suggestions. The sensor wires are not connected as this esc has nowhere to connect them! I am using a 5A 3S Lipo which is new and no matter what setting I change...timinig etc...there is no change......it still cogs badly unless you roll start it!
 J_Munk 45 points
If you have checked every electrical connection, and everything is fine, try to use a smaller pinion to increase the ratio - this usually helps when the car is heavy or the surface is rough, as a lot of power is needed to start rotation of the motor.

Can I use this motor with a 60A HK esc and 4s?? Thanks!!
 Dinukap4 253 points
60A Yes I've used it But no 4S is too much even 3S is some times too much for this motor. Cheers
 fat_erick 3 points
I use this motor in my SC10 with a mamba max pro esc and I run only 2 cells. really good setup for a narrow little dirt track
Jantz  1 points - 5/10/2012

Can I use this motor with a 35A Turnigy Sensorless brushless esc? Also can I run Nimh/Nicd 7.2V 3000mah batteries without proplems????
 Jantz 1 points
Yes I can... It will not run as smooth as the 40A version... I might just get the 100A hk esc and use this in my B4.1
 3D-Flyer 7 points
i don't recommend to use only 35A, go for a higher ESC like 40 - 50 A
 Dinukap4 253 points
i would recomend a 60A ESC! Dont use low range escz mate they burn your esc
glenn  9 points - 5/5/2012

has anyone been able to get this motor warrantied? I was turned down after running motor for only 15min and ***f.

And i have a kyosho ep fazer kobra with stock gearing which is 28teeth to 75teeth, will it be good or i will need to look at another motor? If so... What KV rating would i need? (will credit for advice!)
 brutal 33 points
yes good power...very powerfull motor..more kv more top ,little kv more torque
 edward 7 points
Yes should be good. Great torque but if you were looking for speed look for something with a higher kv rating (revolutions per volt)
 avn_0071 15 points
From the goggle pics, your RC looks like a buggy. For such I would recommend a motor between 3500 to 4800kV. Go towards higher kV for top speed gain and lower kV for more torque/acceleration gain. It's always best to optimize your preferences and go accordingly. Always use 2S Lipo first before jumping to 3S, make sure the car can handle that RPM.
Hobbyisity  204 points - 4/15/2012

Will a 45 amp esc work with it perfectly?
 Dinukap4 253 points
Yes maximum is 3S I've used it :)

 fat_erick 3 points
It depends on what kind of car you want to use it with. 2wd would be fine with just 2 cells but with 4wd you will probably have to buy a 60a and possibly 3 cells

cables are included in the package?
 euromen 29 points

is this good motor for drift car. what esc?
 you1k 53 points
good 40-80A
 David 12 points
yes, very good motor
 avn_0071 15 points
Esc is Ok. You might want to choose slightly lower kV than this (around 3000 kV) for excellent drift application.
Ponyboy  4 points - 2/29/2012

what is the maximum current this motor can take from a speed controller? can it handle the HK 80A ESC?
 Shiftking 16 points
This motor will handle about 50A, so no that esc will burn the motor. Plus you would need a sensor esc to make the best out of this motor.

 Ponyboy 4 points
what about a 60A nominal motor, burst 360A/10sec?
 keijo 109 points
Motor will never be burned because of too beefy ESC. The question should be the other way around "What ESC can handle this motor", not "Can motor handle this ESC". 80A ESC is more than enough for this motor. You'll do just fine with 40A esc also, it's only 220W motor.
AURIX  1 points - 12/22/2011

because at the start turns bad?
 Shiftking 16 points
What is your question?
Marthijn  58 points - 11/7/2011

Hello,

I have a 35A ESC for my hobbyking 1/10 short course truck.
but my motor has broken, so now i've to buy a new motor.

I doubt between this motor, the 13.5t and the same motor as this one, but than 11.5t.
I want sometimes some good speed, but also drive very. very slowly, so with one click of throttle.
So i think want to sensor it..

Which motor is the best for my car? (it's the same as the slash 4x4)

- The 11.5t ( i thought 3300KV)
or - The 13.5t (3150 KV)

I'll run it on 3S.

I hope someone will awnser fast, so, which motor gives the best results and will accept my prefers.

(sorry for my bad englisch)

Regards,

Marthijn!
 JJohnston 5 points
I think you will be happy with the choice of the 11.5 3300 kv. I ran this motor in 4 cars over the course of 2 years. Onroad and Off road. I have been more than pleased. This is a great zero maintenance motor. Just watch your temps to find the correct gearing.
 Marran 11 points
I would use the 11,5T too, more power and more speed
Dinukap4  253 points - 9/2/2011

why ythr price is high ? it was 15$ when i got 2 , for this price it isnt worth at all all my 2 motors blew up ! so for 23$ i better buy a hobbywing

I think you're right mate!

My son drive a stock Tamiya Gravel Hound 1/10 (DF02 chassis) I want to upgrade it with a brushless motor, 35-40A controller and 2s lipo (and actual 7.2V nimh). Is this motor a good choice for the upgrade of the Tamiya buggy or is it too much power for this chassis?
 breezing94 17 points
maybe good choice!

moderate speed at 2s lipo(or 7.2v ni-mh)
fast speed at 3s lipo
with this motor & 30A(or 35, 40A) ESC

Better motor is the ezrun 10T with the 60A quik esc and the 4amp turnigy 2s lipo. It's a tight fit, but you must center the esc on the top deck. I'm running what I've just mentioned in my df02 with upgrades:

22T pinion / 67T spur
Alu drive shaft
8x 1150 ball bearings (wheel outer drive shafts).

Ohh damn! Where is the stock now All the motors are out of stock!!! 10-14 days!!!! it took about 4 months now !!
 Shaq145 65 points
have been replaced by a better model with sensors, the HobbyKing X-Car Sensored Brushless Motor series, avaiable in 5.5, 8.5, 10.5 and 13.5 turns.
 Dinukap4 253 points
Are they even on stock ?

Hi, would i need any leads to make this work? I bought the hobbyking 30a esc.
 Martin 7 points
This motor is rated at 220W so at 7V will require at least a 30A speedo so for safety you should use a 40A
 mark 1 points
Oh well i already got the 30amp esc so hope it's ok, any idea what brushed turn motor this is equivalent to? How often do these come back into stock?
 Keefy 11 points
I use the same motor on a 45 amp and no probs apart from some cogging but i set timing to high and seems to have settled it a little
 JoJoNg 220 points
You need to purchase "bullet connectors" and some Silicone Wire of around 14awg to 16awg to solder it on the brushless motor.
As for the HobbyKing 30A esc, it does arrived with soldered silicone wire but it does not have any "bullet connect" to connect with the motor.
You got to buy "male" & "female" bullet connectors. Size should be around 3mm to 4mm type.
Hope it helps!
 TyphoonFR 33 points
You will need to solder 3 wires plugs to connect to the ESC

F... you HK! I made an order on 21 January at office and couldn't pay in time because of the security protection of the PayPal. Your representative sent my PayPal a payment request for a solution, it didn't work either. Then I paid your payment request through PayPal after I return home. And I'm still waiting for your approvement. It still shows "Awaiting Payment" and half of my order became out of stock because of your slowness. Now you left no choice but wait until they are restocked again in unknown time. Maybe months!
 hohenheim 79 points
When will it be restocked again? My order is being waited for 3 weeks. Please restock quickly.
 internetsucht 91 points
Hohenheim...be a little bit more patient, then you won't regret so much, after things have been solved.

can I use this moter with HK 60A brushless ESC?
 Dinukap4 253 points
Yeah sure The Trunigy 35A will do fine too! Don't buy the HK 60A It will burn out soon
 fluxuss 11 points
On the specs it says it is 220watts that means: on 3S 220watts=12V*amps => amps=18A even 30A is enough for this motor
 kolia 5 points
I use it about four month with 60A ESC on 3s.It runs very well, and not too warm.
 Keefy 11 points
yes mine works good

What gearing should be used for 1/10 on-road? Off-Road? I've read that Brushless ratios should be much higher than their brushed counterparts. Thanks

24 thumbs up!
I've been running this with a 3s lipo and ez35a esc in a 4wd buggy on rubber slicks, on carpet idoors.
I seems to have a lower torque than ez-run kv3000 and nomatter what timing i use it makes funnys sound when, i hit the throttle hard.
It seems like the magnet is to weak.
If i go easy on the throttle it works ok, but i need more power.
The price is unbelivable.
I'm running this motor with a gear ratio 8,6 to 1

5 thumbs up!
Using it with a 60A EZRun ESC, 2S and 3S 30C 5000mAh batteries.

Sensor wires can't be detached.

Shaft is longer than usual, had to sand down 4mm of it.

The shaft's bearing holder stands out from the outer bell's front (the front side of the motor is not even), so for my AE SC10 I had to make the hole on the motor plate a bit (about 1mm) bigger.

The motor is a lot cooler than my EZRun 12T, even with a 3S battery it just won't reach the temps of the comparative EZRun motor.

For some reason, it won't react to full power as expected, I have to 'pump' the gas to reach full speed sometimes. Maybe I'll have to experiment with timings a bit more to get rid of this 'feature'.

Pay attention to fasten the screwz before first use, but do not overtighten them.

For this price, it seems to be a good buy. After further testing, I'll publish my opinions.
