Does this come balanced ? It doesn't say
 sbjcthawk 86 points
Even if it says that it is balanced you should aways balance your props and fan blades

Thank you for your reply, I will give it try and let you know how it goes. Lance

Looking forward for your reply!!!!! Let the beast hover!!!!! :D
LA LA Gallichan  14 points - 1/3/2013

Hello all. I am building a hovercraft this year and wondered if this set up would do the job. Any ideas gentlemen on which way to go. This would be for lift not thrust!!
 AegeanFox 43 points
I have tried that setup with a zippy 2200 mAh 4S1P on a AV-8 Harrier jump jet and it hovered pretty nice... so give it a try!
Balázs  28 points - 8/25/2012

Do you think if its a good idea to put TWO of these in a scratchbuilt 2-4kg plane, as it was a turbine like Boeings, or Airbuses? I mean on the wings, both sides. Thanks (BTW what speed can I expect?)
 Balázs 28 points
No the plane is maybe 1.5-2.5kg. So? Thanks
FPV pro  19 points - 5/15/2012

This is a great high powered motor, which I find very reliable BUT REMEBER THAT IF IT DOES NOT START, SWAP THE TWO OUTER WIRES, NOT THE MIDDLE ONE Pic of my plane with system via link target=_blank>The system
F1wanabe  1 points - 10/4/2011

I received 2 units. One starts up with the proper tones and works. The other beeps 3 times and stops, then will not control the motor at all. The esc from the other unit works this one ok, so it myst be the esc. I saw this mentioned in the review section. Has anyone had this problem?
 *Murdock* 34 points
Try to put the throttle stick to max when u fire it up maybe its reversed. Good luck
 F1wanabe 1 points
Thanks! Throttle is OK. I can use the other esc/motor combo, and I can get this motor to work with the "good" esc, so there is something about this esc. I did put throttle up to enter programming to reset default values in case it was set to nicad, or something. no dice.
 *Murdock* 34 points
are you running it parrallel or each one as a single edf?
 flynnmonkey 1 points
HK EDK70 is very powerful system perfect for my F16 model
 FPV pro 19 points
This system works well on most planes, and makes my home made plane (600g) go like a rocket - 100 mph from a 35cm long plane - I give it 5/5 target=_blank>The system
 jhova1717 162 points
This combo is great especially for the money!!! Thanks f1 for suggesting I get this to start out I'm very pleased!!!
fdyarid  5 points - 8/31/2011

It is good in T-50 Jet?
 rcguy3 13 points
Depends on how much the jet weighs but I can tell that one of this can produce over 2lbs of thrust so see if this is what u r looking for and u might have to balance the fan blade too
flyzmilez  40 points - 8/4/2011

can this unit run of a 3 cell or does it have to be a 4?
 Riotnuts 531 points
3s x2800= 34000rpm yes 4s x2800= 42000 rpm yes
 *Murdock* 34 points
you can run a 3 cell but on 3s you have not enough thrust I tried it. Hope this helps if you have other questions about this unit feel free to ask
*Murdock*  34 points - 6/24/2011

I have got another question: The two edf's are in a 75 mm housing. I get 1200g of thrust out of both together on the ground. Do i get more out of them if I "fill" the housing so its only 70mm? I use a turnigy 3300mah 30c could it be that the bat can't provide enough power for both? Thanks!
 rcguy3 13 points
No u dont and do not try to push these too much or they will break try lighten your plane so u get more performance
*Murdock*  34 points - 6/24/2011

Hi I have put 2 of these in an A-10 and one is running faster than the other. (hast about 100g more thrust than the other) Any ideas what i could do so they produce the same thrust? Thanks
 MrLugeman 15 points
Hi Murdoch, Two thoughts. 1. Check out the manual. It can be found on the Files Tab of the page for this item. Confirm that the timing for both ESC's is the same. If not, then change them to be the same. 2. Set your system up so the two ESC's are driven by different radio channels. Adjust the rates until the thrust is the same for each motor.

Has to be the esc timeing set different ! I've had this same thing happen and I had no clue why until someone mentioned the esc timeing.
 Fke1964 15 points
i have the same a10 with these engines. How can you see the diference in thrust? To me it looks fine but haven't flown yet.
Pankaj  16 points - 2/18/2011

What ESC is this, what is the continuous and max amp and voltage it can handle?
 derrick 31 points
Keep it at 45 or less amps and 4 cell lipo at most.you can burst over that but your taking a gamble.ive used this esc and itll pump out strong strong power all day long at 45 amps without overheating.the only limiting factor is the fan itself.
de_kata  138 points - 1/10/2011

Can this combo work with 5S li-po?
 Sockrat 178 points
not with supplied esc.
 rcguy3 13 points
Even if u get better esc it would not work cause the motor will burn up so no dont use 5s

I have this setup and the motor itself is out of balance. The orange metal piece on the rear can be seen spinning out of balance. It causes a lot of vibration, noise and heat. I don't know how to fix this!!! Please help.

The entire package looks like FreeWing Power System. The OEM I guess.
 GRAHAM 168 points
The Freewing 70dia is rated at only 880-950g, not the 1200g listed for this one. So, i hope to upgrade my Freewing 64dia 600g jet with this, and get at least 800g thrust.
hahn71  67 points - 3/14/2010

why the gws style impellers? should use something a little more substantial.
 quesnes 154 points
I don't what you mean, but i try it with 4S 40C lipo and it pulls very very much. Sure i've more than 1kg thrust.
 yakhakker 9 points
Quesnes, what sort of model do you have it installed in? as I am thinking of putting one (or two maybe!) into an MPX ultra jet which come in at 875gm with a normal prop setup so If you have 1kg then it will really go
