Hi guys,
just took a measurement on the ESC.
With a 25/50c 3s 1300 and stock prop it takes 10,xx A on the workbench.
In flight it should be a little less.
br
Oliver
Just came back from the maiden.
Flys like a beauty!
However, the supplied ESC cuts out after 2 or 3 minutes of full speed with a 3s1300 25/50c!
if you upgrade to higher Lipos one should consider a better ESC as well!
Actually, if you take the cg from the manual, it does not look right to me!
According to the manual it is just behind the leading edge (aprox. 1,5 cm)
This seems to be not right - can somebody verify this please. I would hate to find out by flying! *-)
thx
Hello, all. I have planes of such size. scope I covered less than meter, from foam. I recommended to correspond to it (Tape Blenderm) to amplify in accident
Just don't use full throttle all the time and you should be fine. The extra 5C of the battery isn't going to make a big difference. If the ESC is going to fry, it probably will regardless of the C rating of the battery. Better thing to do is find a way to get more cooling airflow to the ESC.
I always wanted to tell HobbyKing to amend this: The wingspan is actually 750mm and the length of the plane is 610mm. Hope HobbyKing can change it in the specifications...
I have a unused main wing, tail wing and 3 canopys I can give away, if you pay postage, but sending from Norway is quite expensive, approx. $ 60.00 I have to pack and weigh it first to get an exact price on postage.
Hi brains trust :) I have just been given this plane as a gift (1st flyer) and upon inspection it has a brushed motor (370)with gear set. Also 10A esc (assuming brushed also) and 2.4ghz tx/rx. Any info on what brushless motor to use as replacement much appreciated! also do the brushless versions still use the same "ge****t" housing that this brushed setup is mounted in? This unit came with 9.6v Ni-Mh 350mah battery so mustve been "old stock" from elsewhere. thanks for any info!
If you still care after 4 www.link
I would go with this motor. Lots of grunt to have fun and get you out of a sticky situation of need be. Prop as said on the motor page (7x4 to 7x6) or something similar. Probably good to get a 20 or even 30 amp brushless esc so it will last long. And last but not least a 3 cell lipo of maybe 1000 to 2200 mah and 20-30c discharge rate. This setup will give you a zippy plane that will pull off some awesome aerobatics and impress the neighbors. If it goes to fast put a smaller prop on and if you want more speed get the 1200kv version and a larger prop.
Cheers
Will
Hey Guys,
First off I love this plane. I upgraded my ESC to a 15A and am running the Turnigy 30-40C 3c 1000mah lipo. Balance is perfect and flight times are 6 to 8 minutes long.Very precise and fast flying. This is my first bottom wing plane and it is awesome!! 18 flights and zero crashes. This thing fly's slow just as well as it does fast.
The Canopy has flown off twice. Thought i fixed the issue but it flew off again today and unfortunately I never could find it. Anyone know of a replacement? Was going to see what some local hobby shops would have on hand that would work tomorrow.
U can find in easier in SEARCH column on the left side of this webpage. Type in for what u desire and it will promt out any of the related item.just click and review.
Does anyone know which replacement propeller is needed? Or a similar one, which produces less torque? (my plane always rolls to the left when throwed in the air) Thanks in advance!
LukeDuke this is a common problem. Firstly how does it fly?? Once in the air can you trim roll out?? If so it is no prop change will help. When you launch try running motor to speed before you launch. This will reduce the initial torque. I hope this helps
Hi, I changed the prop to a folding one (6x45) after I also experienced some difficulty in launching. Now it flies beautifully and the prop won't get broken so easily when I land it.
Hi Scott,
It's a pity you cant get it working for so many days :(
As far as i remember this plane has the following ESC:
HobbyKing 10A ESC 1A UBEC
Search it on HK, go to the Files tab and get the manual from there. The manual is actually the same for a big range of ESC as they operate basically the same.
Btw, if it didn't not work when you switched wires, try just switching other combinations. As the motor does not really care about their order.
thanks for all your help. i tried all possible wire combos. the manual you mentioned has different tone patterns then mine. so i bought a new one from my local hobby store. its too bad hobby king service is offline. thanks again
just got this plane a couple days ago. got everything hooked up. everything else is good. motor is stuttering and undoes the propeller? got orangerx r610 $pektrum. turnigy 1000mah 3s 20c lipo. please help.
Are you sure you set up the ESC for first use?
If no:
Put the throttle stick in top position. Connect the battery, you will hear some first beep. Then move the throttle stick on Tx to its minimum position. You should hear confirmation sound. Everything should work fine afterwards.
thanks GlebG it worked!!! yahoo! i did it after first sequence of beeps for anyone else. also i had to switch blue and red wire on esc. to get program mode.
hope you can help. when i got it it didn't beep at all till i switched wires. i hooked up propeller and it spines backwards. tried switching wires and no beeps. i switched black to get beeps back and i can't even get it to spin again. maybe you know what wire sequence its in.
The motor is spinning backwards because the motor is connected wrong to ESC. Just switch any 2 wires (from total of 3) on the motir. That would get you the right direction.
Hi,
I am thinking about buying this airplane and including the following:
1. Turnigy Plush 30amp ESC (ID:TR_P30A)
2. OrangeRx R610 $pektrum DSM2 6Ch 2.4Ghz Receiver (ID:R610)
3. Turnigy 1300mAh 3S 25C Lipo Pack. (ID: T1300.3S.25)
My question is... will I need any type of special connectors/adapters to plug everything in? Thanks.
Not advisable, I used the gear of my mini corsair on it and it added too much drag and messed up the cg. This thing flies better in stock form. And since its some kind of bizarre foam, it will just make the wings weaker especially if you don't flare upon landing.
not recomended for this plane to add landing gear. it's fly more scale without landing gear

BEWARE This setup draws 11 amps at full throttle and HK have only installed a 10 amp ESC. In the specs it says 20 amp ESC but it is wrong. Most people use the specs to order their gear and HK is consistently getting it wrong. Shame on you HK
The model itself is absolutely gorgeous. I will be changing the ESC obviously as I dont want a pile of foam after my first flight.

i bought this plane over a year ago. it was different kind of set (it had brushed motor), but the plane was pretty much the same. i must say this is an excelent plane, it is stable, it flyes well and it is fast enough. it is perfect for your fist motor plane. and ow that is upgraded with brushless motor it is eaven better. it is a must buy for all mustang lovers.

the only problem i had was spiner. it is made from foam and after a few flights foam cracked and coused strong vibrations. i would recomend to change the spiner with plactic one.

A great looking mustang. And lets face it, everyone likes the mustang. This little plane is made from EPS and has been around for a while but it still fly's great and is fun to keep in the back of the car for a lunch-time buzz. It's not the strongest little plane but handles belly landings just fine!
