Hi Anyone know how to re-format this key chain cam.My was accidently place near a strong magnet.The system now asked to format the disk and when I press start format.the error box show "window was unable to complete the format.wat's the correct way bto frward the jidt

Try to reset the cam (push in toothpick in this small hole between microSD card slot and USB on the cam body). But if your SD card is really damaged, you will need to use the other (new) one.

When I got my Keychain Camera the Sandisk card was partially inserted with the Sandisk label showing on the side away from the buttons. I clicked it in place and charged the camera for 1 hour until the LED went out. I was never able to turn the camera on with the power button. Windows XP never detected the camera as a mass storeage device after reinserting the USB connector with camera attached. Reset did not help. Is the micro-SD card upsidedown?

I have also issue like you but i can solve it with some patience. Be careful that your USB connector is well connected, because there is bad contact. After you need to reset the product and make a FAT32 format with windows XP. If you cannot trought the keychain , connect the SDcard directky on your PC to format it. Best regards

Google "chucklohr 808" there is info there on how to update your software. When your on the webpage just press ctrl F and search "#7 camera firmware" and it will take you straight there.

guys, i got my cam back. its charging problem. I tried to charge with my external lipo charger with 100mAh 1S setting. It worked. Its now holding more than an hour of video recording. So permanently I fixed a connector to outside for charging. Thank you guys.

windows media player is ****, and needs to download a codec in order to play AVI video. personally I recommend you download VLC media player here: ***********videolan****/vlc/ it's free and it works - just remember you need to associate AVI files with VLC media player manually. in your control panel. windows doesn't like to share.

i got one of these on eBay, the two buttons on the back are for looks, the ones on the front are the working ones, hold the lower one to turn it on, press the upper one to take a picture, or hold the upper one and it will blink, let it go, and then its recording,to stop recording, press the off button. solid light is on, blinking is charging or no card inserted. here is a video i took of mine, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXxVv8CPwDA its way better on electrics. matt....

I bought 4 Car camera one month ago and I used it a lot. Now 3 are no more registering and I have to use reset button to power off. The fourth one is registering no more than 5 minutes video, and I'm not sure that it is registered.

Try to reformat sd card. I'd got similar issue and it was caused by some errors in filesystem. After checkdisk some avi went gone but camera is usable again, so reformat is easiest and fastest way.

Hey David, take it easy I am a computer scientist; follow my instructions:
1- A .rar file is a compressed file. To uncompress it you will need a software. Go to http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z465.exe download the program and set it up. You will then be able to open a .rar file
2- For the cam intructions file click on http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/User%20manual%20for%20Carkey%20cam.doc

Since getting a C4 SD card video is better. Charging from PC USB port works fine also, flashes when charging then goes solid when charged.
Query: Have made a USB jack patch cord so as to charge 808 at field from my iCharger 1006. When connecting 808 to charger with 1S .1amp settings, display reads "battery check low voltage" which by the 1006 manual means the charger is detecting less then one cell????

I wasn't enrapt over the initial quality but did th efirmware upgrade with boticable results. I figured that since th ecamera cost so little, reall, that another $10 or so a class 4 4 gig card was a worthwhile punt.
It paid off in spades! The Xvid avi format is a good and bad thing, depending on how you use the camera. I use it on sailboats and planes and the video needs a lot of clipping.. most video editors will only do single segment clips.. I need multiple. Xilsoft is no good..but AVS is.
The results are amazing.. I'll post a video up shortly. But plan on a C4 card or forget it!
My only gripe are the flukey buttons. All in all it's a ball biter.

Re: Charging at the field. The 808 camera circuit must have a voltage drop circuit in it so as to charge 1S lipo from 5V USB port. This is what is causing the low voltage alarm when connected to charger.

This is a #7 808 keychain camera. It produces somewhat choppy video with the sandisc card but smoother with a class 4 card. It is also known for freezing up at times requiring use of the reset button on the side. The camera works and makes a good light weight camera for my glider but gets 3 stars as there are versions out there with smoother video and sound. This model #7 camera has bad video frame drops. Video playback has a pause-and-go every few seconds. Especially when scene is more complex. Has anyone found a cure? Maybe a $15 Class 6 SD card?

My camera has same problem. Freezing, bad dynamic of picture...Much worse than samples on HobbyKing page. I measured micro SD card speed and it is maximum writing speed of 6MB/s. I replaced it with one from my phone and freezing is gone (10MB/s). I will try this afternoon again with glider and I'll report.

The memory card seems to be the cause of the problem for me, I recorded about 30minutes of video and it's all unwatchable with all the dropped frames in the video. I have just replaced the memory card that comes with the camera and done a quick test which failed with the original card and with a new Kingston Class 4 card it seems to have fixed the problem, next step is to take out and try and record some video in an rc car and see the difference.

As this camera comes its rubbish, very jerky video to the point where its uncomfortable to watch.
It also does not work with Windows media player OR Apple Quicktime, you have to download a different plyer just to get it to work.
the version that I got from **** works MUCH better.
Stay away from this one.

Dudes, I got 4 of these and have the same problem on all of them: The video does record, and the sound is also fine. My issue is with the blank (black) intervals between the images. It's similar to an old school black and white projector show: It flickers all the time. It's just not nice looking at the recording. I'm not concerned with the actual frame rate and memory card speed...The flickering just aint cutting it for me. Any one else with this problem? Solution?

If it only happens after you clip the video and you are using Xilsoft Video cutter , then don't.. it sucks. AVS Video editor does a great job and handles your output preference with finesse. It's the Xvi/ avi format that seems to be the reason for the black screens and fluttering. It keeps the file size small but needs the right proggie to handle editing.
AND..you need at least a Class 4 card.. a must have. Playback is great on DivX player.. and so it should be.. Xvid is divX backwards.

I have found that the included 2 gig micro disk is ****. You get stop and go video and your card gets full before your battery dies.

I just came from the store where I purchased an 8 gig card because that pause and go video was driving me nuts when watching it. This solve the stop and go video, it's now non stop video. I also found out that the last file on your card always gets corrupt so do stop and then start new videos just to make sure your only video doesn't get corrupted. The video is okay on both cards, it looks kind of bright most of the time. I purchased a patriot class 4 micro sdhc and it was already formatted with fat 32. I just use it as a regular hard drive so I don't know what drivers you would need. I hope this helps and that they add a bigger card for this price. It's not worth this price if you get ****py video out of the box anyway because now you have to spend more on a card. I hope this helps others looking at this item.

Only two buttons are active. The active button closest to the keychain is the power button. press once to turn on and hold it down to turn it off. If the LED is on and you momentarily press the video button it will take a still picture. if you hoold it for 3 sec the LED will flash three times and start recording video. Press the button again to stop video and the LED is on solid again. Press and hold the power button until the LED goes off and the camera is off.

No driver should be needed. Check that the microSD card is inserted and correct. If you can, try the SD card with a card reader to ensure it is ok. Also let the camera charge before first use. The supplied SD-card sucks, better replace it with a faster microSD (and bigger, I used a 8Gb card tested for 10Mb /s write)

Just got mine yesterday too, but so far im not impressed at all. Does no seem to be charging from PC, video does not play on WMP and had to download some other player "VLC" but thats not going to have it viewable to anyone if posted anywhere, and even on VLC playback is stuttery and audio is terrible. Plus even VLC said after playing a video something about an error :

So, not much use for this camera IMO.

You probably need to download a codec pack to play the files if having problem with audio no video.

If you want to use WMP, associate that file type with WMP rather than needing to use a seperate player (Still need the CODEC for the file type).

Stuttery playback, if your playing direct from the memory card (camera or card reader) this can happen due to hardware or slow USB interface throughput speed. Dump it to your PC HDD and play from there.

Plenty of free avi editors out there also to easily edit these files.

You can format this camera as fat 32. I just did under linux and all the deleted files are created once you start a new video so no need to worry about saving those. Do back up your videos first if you have any though.
