Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 3S 45~90C Lipo Pack

Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 3S 45~90C Lipo Pack

More than just a fancy name. TURNIGY nano-tech lithium polymer batteries are built with an LiCo  nano-technology substrate complex greatly improving power transfer making the oxidation/reduction reaction more efficient, this helps electrons pass more freely from anode to cathode with less internal impedance.
In short; less voltage sag and a higher discharge rate than a similar density lithium polymer (non nano-tech) battery.
For those that love graphs, it means a straighter, longer curve. For pilots it spells stronger throttle punches and unreal straight-up performance.
Excellent news for 3D pilots!

Unfortunately with other big brands; numbers, ratings and graphs can be fudged. Rest assured, TURNIGY nano-techs are the real deal, delivering unparalleled performance!

Are this good for my hpi vorza?
Tim  4 points - 5/11/2013

Can I get this battery with deans discharge plug?
yaniv  1 points - 4/10/2013

does it fit in a traxxas e revo? I have a castle esc and 2200 motor ? will it ran on it?
 adam74 27 points
Sure does. I've got a bunch of these batteries
 lProAgressive 42 points
yes its good for e revo and summit brushless systems. battery hole sizes are 160x51x30 so this battery good choosen...
STAMPBAGS  17 points - 4/6/2013

i h and naza will this battery work for my quad ? and if yes how much flight time will i getave a dji f450 stock dji 2212 motors 30amp opto escs
 tracar 30 points
my dji F550 HEXA gets 12 minits of flight easy with a standard 5000mah lipo *) But i would have to say around 15 minits with a stock quad and a new battery..., but be carefull not to run the lipos down past the 20% capacity , use your radios timer to keep track of your time in the air,,, start off with 12 minit flights and see how many MAH you use , and adjust your flight time accordingly. (( you should use no more than 4000MAH of your battery per flight ))
Johar  57 points - 3/31/2013

Was this good for quad with HEXFET 25amp ESC?
Per Arne  9 points - 2/18/2013

Is this OK to use in a hexacopter with 30A ESC's ?
 Ben 8 points
Yes, 6 30A ESC's will draw 180 amps, and these batteries will provide 225-450 amps. It's always a good idea to use a battery that will put out more amps than your ESC rating. Your ESC will not pull more amps than whats rated, making an easier lifetime for your battery.

Has anyone got any tips or tricks on soldering(or soddering for the Americans) these big battery wires, i'm using an 80w soldering iron and can't manage to tin the wire without heating the pack too much.
 Sarboo 6 points
When I solder the 8AWG stuff i wrap the cable bundle up with thin stainles locking wire a few times (to stop it spreading out) as solder won't stick to it. then get a big a$$(200w ) iron and crank in the heat... the more power the iron you have, the quicker you get it done, which means less battery heat due to transfer. Of course this means its easier to make a mess beacause you have to work so quick but if a man with 10 thumbs can do it (me) then you can too. God hates a coward, best of luck
 Carol 1 points
What i do is get a pair of surgical clamps and clamp the battery wire about 3-4 inches from the pack and put some flux on what ever you are soldiering to absorb it. make sure its corrosive free flux. cant guaranty it but it works for me. hope it helped
 Ben 3 points
Thankyou for your advice, will be very helpful.
Orlando  1 points - 8/15/2011

will this fit into the 1/10 slash 4x4??http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/images
/em_rolleyes.gif
 Arthur 8 points
very good! i like it
 Carol 1 points
it should since the pack is is 25mm from what i understand. so it should fit snug but good. and you might have to do some dremmeling to fit the wires.
 Daniel 5 points
Not without modifications.
Jeremy  1 points - 5/19/2011

will this fit into the 1/10 e revo compartment?
 Michael76 1 points
Yes, they fit in the compartments!
 Jeremy 1 points
ok thanks mate

They do! I use two of them in my e-revo.

Why are this Batterys using 10AWG Kabels and 4mm connectors? The NOT nanot tech 40C turigy batterys are having 8AWG(more thick) Kables and 5,5 bullet connectors? The nano tech should be able to deliver more current....
 Giovanni 6 points
Yes, you're right! In fact, when I arrived, I immediately changed the connectors and I soldered the contacts from 5.5 mm Gold Polimax. They are very good, think on my hull exhaust to 150 amps with no problems.
Giovanni
 Juerg 5 points
I've changed the connectors too. I recommand all to change the connectors.

Hi, would be possible to solder Deans to 10 AWG wires of this nanotech? Thanks.
 Striker700 32 points
of course yes

 Paulo 7 points
Yes, correct.
 Doug 11 points
yes deans solder to these wires with ease just be sure to tin the wire and deans before you make your solder joint
 Bryan 1 points
yea it will work the hardest part it the fact that turnigy uses huge wires
 Guys2nv 21 points
I have soldered a deans on to these battery's before-it works but you need some pretty big heatshrink tubing to go over the wires.
 Jeremy 1 points
bit off topic, but what are the "must do" things to do for a brand new lipo battery? charge and discharge through the charger?
 calone76 29 points
to a new Li-Po is nothing to do, just charge it and play. Don't forget to do a charge/discharge once a month if you don't use it.

Will the MMM handle the amperage safely
 Norberto 11 points
This battery is very good. It will handle any amperage you ask from it. I have 2 and used them with MMM with no problem at all ...
 ANTONIO 10 points
Yes I have two on my hpi vorza attttttt for the power kick on full take off ,,
 Shane 6 points
I run 2 of these in a flux xl They never get warm and great difference in power from the standard turnigys.
 Doug 11 points
yes but watch the battery temps......I run 2 in 6s and they are starting to puff geared 16/68 in e-maxx brushless Iwill see if warentee is real or if I get shafted
 LUIS 8 points
yo tengo 4 de estas y te recomiendo las turning 5000mah y 40c
las nanotech despues de 4 ciclos pierden bastante rendimiento de descarga
por calidad y precio te recomiendo las turning
 Daniel 1 points
Will this fit and work well in a HPI Savage Flux HP?
 Tribalscars 3 points
I run two of these in my Monster Mamba system on my e-revo. Iv gone asfar down as 21p/40s and dont 66mph runs and my system is good. Packs have served me for over a year and still going strong and no puff or unbalancing.
nick1  3 points - 3/13/2011

when are you going to ship the 5000 3s 45-90s. i mean come on it has been a month since i ordered them.
 Roberto 6 points
Maybe items were in backorder, remind that Hobbyking takes from 7 to 30 days to re-stock items.
 Bryan 1 points
i still havent got mine its been three weeks with no backorder i cant wait to see what this thing does for my slash 4x4
andrewju  16 points - 1/10/2011

Could someone please recommend a good connector to be used with this battery's discharge plug? I'd like to buy some from HK, but I'm not sure which one will be a best fit. I guess XT60s are not good enough for this much of power...
 jeremie 7 points
The best connector is dean! Dean all the way
 sabongi 93 points
EC5's are the best for this kind of amp's.
 Roberto 6 points
I would say Polymax 5.5mm Gold Connectors!
 ANTONIO 10 points
I love dean connectors
 fe wannabe 6 points
The best connector for this battery would depend on the amount of amps your setup is pulling. I would assume that you bought these 45-90C batteries for a high amp draw setup since these batteries can deliver over 200A continuous. The very least I would recommend would be 5.5mm bullet connectors, but I run 8mm on my high amp draw boat. Deans type connectors or only good up to 60A.
 Lion 1 points
what about traxxas connectors? can they handle this power?
Ari  13 points - 9/6/2010

When will they be in stock?
 anr2442 9 points
Why is the 3s 45c still out of stock?!! Come on already please. We also need a 2s 7.4 45c 5000mah soon.
 ANTONIO 10 points
I 2nd that ,hobby king heeelllooo
 boernhard 8 points
2S 5000 mAh 45C silently appeared in the list. However, it was not advertised in the "new items" section...

what is the awg # for this lipo? is it advisable to connect with a 12awg application?
 nathan4077 7 points
it is more like 8ga they are heavier than my 10 ga motor wires
 Shane 6 points
With these lipos you don't want any thing less than 10awg and 8awg would be overkill
benben  17 points - 8/23/2010

Will this battery fit into a savage flux battery tray. i'm extremely concerned about the 59mm width as i am pretty sure the width of the battery tray is only 50mm.
thank you
 Fusion 481 points
The width is only 49mm....Yes they will fit. You will enjoy them alot.
 fern420 154 points
yes, they fit perfectly. I'm using two of these in my savage flux. These are the best batteries I've ever put in it, amazing power, backflips at 25mph.
 Connor 4 points
yes this battery will fit in the flux. the battery is 49 mm.
Shaun  16 points - 8/20/2010

Will these batteries fit in a traxxas slash 4x4 ultimate. I'm sure i will need the taller expansion mount
 nathan4077 7 points
it fits in my slash 4x4
 Bryan 1 points
yeah your going to need the exspansion mount ive got it already i dont see how it would be possible to run this battery or any three cell without it
Sigun  24 points - 8/7/2010

How come that they come with 4mm connectors they can only hand 93 amps, if I use this battery at it normal 45C rate it will give me 225 amps and the connector will proably melt..... /Martin
 Shen 7 points
Most people will switch to deans or traxxas plug right away with these packs. I think it's their way to cut cost maybe?
 Roberto 6 points
I suggest to use the Polymax 5.5mm Gold Connectors (10 pairs/set)
2crazyrc  29 points - 7/12/2010

will this fit in a stampede battery tray??
Proteuz  76 points - 6/24/2010

Heres a question, what will the Charge rate be ?
 __Asad 2519 points
A sensible charge rate would be about 5C, even though stated charge rate is defined around 8-10C for various batteries of this type and brand.

Now where is my 50A charger at Jason? :D
 Humboldt,Ca 361 points
Why are the packs different widths for the 3s 5000mah and the 4s 5000mah? 3s is 59mm and the 4s is the normal 50mm. are they made with different 5000mah cells?
 Humboldt,Ca 361 points
and why are they so much longer then the normal lipos, 25mm longer?
 Mauricio D 168 points
cause they are not the normal lipo
 Humboldt,Ca 361 points
"Mauricio D (88%) cause they are not the normal lipo" Duh!! i was asking why they were made 25mm longer? they should have keep to the standard size of old lipos, if they were smart they would have... because now you need new helis, planes, cars, boats, and trucks so they can fit the nice quick charging lipos.
 Fusion 481 points
They are 'normal' size. HK made a mistake on the size. 155mm x 49mm x 27mm. Weight 459 grams.

Charge rate stated on pack is 10C.
 mikiko 116 points
What about using these on Mikado Logo 500??
 lomdel 37 points
Can I charge these Nano-tech lipos with a normal lipo charger?

3 thumbs up!
Size is 155mm x 49mm x 27mm. Weight 459 g.
Arrived in perfect condition in wrap with box.
All cells at 3.80. Charged to full with NO puff at all.
Fit perfect in E-Revo with only slight dremmel to get the huge 8GA wires out.
Very difficult to change connectors as you will need a high power soldering iron to work this wire.
The power is massive compared to 30C 5.8Ah Flightmax. Huge punch whenever you want. Cold to the touch after hard session.

The applaction that i use them for is 6s 1p outrigger hydroplane i have compaired them to a verry well known high performance brand on a back to back test in racing conditions the resaults of that test showes that these cells at this time dont hold there voltage very well at 145 amps continus but this may improve as i pute more cycles on them i will report more when i'v hade more time on them.

Well, I just received these yesterday. Unfortunately my Mamba Monster in my E-revo just blew a cap so I was unable to test them. What I can say is that they WILL fit into the revo battery trays, as well as the Slash 4x4 tray. But you will have to modify the door of the Revo to accept the massive 8 gauge wires, which are unnecessary. My batteries came extremely well packaged and pretty quick with ems. Ill post another review when I run them!
