Will the dr mad thrust 50mm 10 blade impeller replacement fit on this standard motor?
 customer5 290 points
It will increase thrust however this will also increase the current draw of the entire system. You will need a larger ESC and larger battery to supply the demands of the power system. That system will sound good too. Personally I use the 6 blade one and once balanced, it is quiet and quite efficient, gives my jet over 1:1 thrust to weight ratio.
edgar20478  4 points - 4/3/2013

good. I could tell if the next battery can serve this jet. 11.1volt, 3s 1100 mah, 20c .. lipo. thanks for your advice.
 customer5 290 points
Yes that will work with this jet. Any 3S or 4S battery in the 800~1500mah range would work. It just needs to fit the battery compartment (which yours does)

hello I bought this beautiful mini A39 but when I put the battery and my telecomande in connection with the aircraft wings react but the engine will not start but you hear a regular stroke ... if someone can help me thank you.
 Kellyann 16223 points
Pierre I use clear packing tape on both sides. I hope this helps
 Kellyann 16223 points
Pierre Opps sorry Do you still need help??? I hope you have not been waiting all this timw NOW MAY.
 lracnolip 65 points
check the wires going to the esc from the motor, sounds like a loose connection
 AegeanFox 42 points
Pierre be sure to connect the wires from esc to the motor correctly and also connect correctly the esc in your Rx. I think (I AM NOT SURE so the responsibility of trying it is yours) the connection from esc to motor is yellow-yellow black-red red-black.....

How do you repair the Ailerons seperating from the wing, it was damaged in delivery
 Kellyann 16223 points
MajorGavo I use clear packing tape on both sides. I hope this helps
 Martin 5 points
Hi, I had the same problem and solved it with bying some paper hinges in my local hobby store. than I used my balsa cutter to one cut for every hinge in wing and aileron and fixed them in by using foarm glue.
You will not see the damage and it works perfect.
best reg. M.
 Mike 4 points
you should use extreme packing tape as this jet has quite a high top speed it just helps to have the extra strength
zeval31  9 points - 12/19/2011

Hi there, can the motor handle a 4S battery ?
 slaanesh 424 points
Yes but make sure the motor is perfectly centred in the housing and the rotor is balanced. Do not rely on the factory doing this accurately enough! Do it yourself properly and the motor will be fine on 4S.

 zeval31 9 points
thanks. I have noticed that indeed the impeller is not properly balanced from factory. Also the ailerons went slightly bent on the servos arms location, as the main wing was packed upside up, and servo arms pressing upward.
 Drew2Blue 3 points
Other motors/edfs that are semi-drop in install such as WEMO combo from donsrc**** will provide better use of that 4S. Honestly I would question the stock 20amp ESC handling the 4S, especially if its higher C rating. Don suggests a 40amp ESC if you plan to use his uber motor combos, plus he does dynamic balancing for those curious to beef up the L-39 with over 1:1 thrust for crazy fun.

How do you program the esc?
 radanlampl 7 points
Very nice kit, but slowly, flight time about 4 min with 3S 1Ah
 Kellyann 16223 points
Axl_74 why do you want too. They come pre programmed. But if you get a program card for that make and model of Esc you can program it. I hope this helps
Axl_74  4 points - 11/25/2011

How do you program the esc?
 Drew2Blue 3 points
Pentium ESC are programmable, you need a datum cable to connect one to your PC and some software. Not sure if stock ESC supports this feature.
adlers83  295 points - 11/19/2011

Has this stock Motor more or less than 5000kv??
 slaanesh 424 points
Stock motor is 4300Kv.
 Kellyann 16223 points
adlers83 so that would be less.

Hi,

I've put the plane together but when connecting the battery the motor (yes, it seems it comming from motor and not from ESC) plays a sound and then keeps beeping regulary in a short period, like pi pi pi pi pi.... If I disconnect the receiver the motor changes to pi .... pi .... pi ....

Any idea what to do?

Thanks
 stardemos 32 points
Try to reverse throtle channel , if not, use other batery!
 Roman 1 points
I Thing, you haven´t your throttle stick in lover position. You have throttle trim in middle. Trim throttle to lower position,or check reverse of throttle channel.
RCMANIAA  53 points - 9/11/2011

Any body know where to place battery in fuselage? I saw there has 2 place, one in front and one more at the back of the first one.
 stardemos 32 points
I could bet that it's on the front, to keep the GC in place!
 RCMANIAA 53 points
But it still have nose go down when i launch it, and it crash although i use elevator
 stardemos 32 points
calm down, don t launch it until you have GC in place, 1/3 OF THE WING from the front of the plane, the plane maust be balance there. mail sent
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 stardemos 32 points
i believe that the plane must be balanced at thr servo cable line. put you finger there, one in each wing, and the tail must be fully horizontal, the wing stas at 3º*. but you must find the GC in the manual, or in a gravity center calculator.
 slaanesh 424 points
The centre of gravity is about 4-5mm forward of the servo cable line at the wing root.
Centre of gravity can be easily achieved with a 4S 1000mah battery* the L-39 flies beautifully with this as long as the EDF rotor is balanced and mounted correctly.
 RCMANIAA 53 points
are you sure this jet can handel 4s with stock motor and ESC? and do you mean the CG is right at the whole of top of the fuselage?
 slaanesh 424 points
Yes 4S is fine, as long as the ESC is mounted in the air-stream, the motor is centred accurately in the EDF housing and the rotor is balanced. You will need to check all these yourself and most likely make adjustments!
The CG is about 4mm in front of the servo wire hole in the middle of the wing.
 RCMANIAA 53 points
"The CG is about 4mm in front of the servo wire hole in the middle of the wing" You mean the "middle of the wing" is right exacly infront of the landing gear place?
 slaanesh 424 points
Look at the 2nd photo, just above the 'T' in 'BREITLING' you will see the hole where the servos run into. About 4 to 5mm in front of this is where the CG should be located. This is where I fly it and is very close to where the manufacturer recommends.
 RCMANIAA 53 points
THANKS so much Slaanesh, i will try it this sunday
RCMANIAA  53 points - 8/12/2011

Can i add the steerable landing gear to this plane?

The Jpower/Sky Angel/Venom L-39 has a wingspan of 550mm and Fuse length of 700mm and the Hobby King promotional video shows these dimensions on the box. The Specs listed by Hobby King show otherwise. Can an owner of this model confirm the 550 and 700mm measurements?
Justin  2 points - 5/6/2011

can i use 850 mah 2cell 7.4v
 Jakub 15 points
no i use 1000mah 3cell and i stil need to add few grams into the nose for balance it wont have enough power to fly on 7.4v 2cell
 Patrick 8 points
2 cell will not send enough power to fly this airplane. I am using a 1000mAh 3S. If you would like to use a 850mAh, but 3S, i think there is no problem. Don't forget to add a few grams into the nose, to setup the correct CG. Good luck!
 hasan 54 points
makes sure to buy a battery with 30~45c to get a fire rocket out of this hehe
 slaanesh 424 points
I think you could even use up to a 1300mah 3S battery because the model will take weight in the nose. You should get some nice 5 minute flights like this.
Pierre  1 points - 4/12/2011

As there is no 850mah 3S 11.1V 20C, can you, at least, say us what type of connector we have to choose ? Mini JST plug ? XT60 ? Thanks.
 Patrick 8 points
The ESC has no connector. I am using a Turnigy nano-tech 1000mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pac. This battery comes with a XT60 connector like many others in HK. Don't forget to buy some male XT60 connectors available here - www.link

It's really fast!

It is sensationally fast on stock 3 cells but I found the ESC will take 4 cells without problem. Goes from fast to ballistic. Good luck.

Replacement of motor/fan. My motor and fan is broken, I need help to choose a replacement motor/fan (complete EDF)
 Jernej 23 points
You can try with this (I think it is nice combination): (Turnigy 2610 EDF Outrunner 5000kv) www.link Ducted Fan Unit 6Blade 1.97inch 50mm) www.link not forget to balance the edf before use.
I use the same setup in my L-39 and fly great.
 Richard 8 points
what u need to do is google "skyangel edf replacement fan units" for 50mm 5blades fan units also for the motor too *)
.zac.  142 points - 10/19/2010

Is hobbyking going to stock an arf kit version of this?? im tempted cram in a 55mm edf on a 4s :D
 Ray 34 points
It really doesn't need a fan that big. I have a 50mm Himax fan with 4100kv motor in it on 4s and it is a rocket! I got 8 mins flight time yesterday just putting around with some full throttle blast.
Hilmi  17 points - 9/4/2010

does it come with wheels?
 MegaTesla 576 points
Probably not, otherwise it would've been in one of the photos.
 MegaTesla 576 points
I got mine, and I can confirm it does not come with landing gear.
  James 633 points
. I think he means "training wheels"! .
 Itamar 5 points
you can put one in the nose(not moveable) and one on each wing like i want to do(i orderd one)
z_mann  19 points - 9/4/2010

Hi, how big is battery compartment? Which battery would be best fit for this jet? Thanks P.
 MegaTesla 576 points
It is big compared to some of the other 50mm jets. You can easily fit almost any 3s or 4s pack up to 1800mah in there.
Robachan  1089 points - 8/31/2010

OK, this L-39 JPower jet makes it all on the pamphlet but the Red Arrows (coming soon?). Total of 8. Surprised HK is stocking all of them.
 Robachan 1089 points
Wait, no. Forgot the Mig-15, too much like the F-86, and the T-45 isn't even on the pamphlet that I got, but is available here.
 Robachan 1089 points
Oops, the T-45 is the Red Arrows in white, so only the Mig-15 left.
 slaanesh 424 points
Isn't there also an A4 and a T33?
 flip79 1 points
are there any tips or things that should be kept in mind with this aircraft? in regards to construction and flight
 Saksham Dhawan 1 points
this is a wonderful plane and should not not give you any trouble.you should just know how to fly and it will give you happy hours.

I buyed in europe an identical one. It flies very good and the price is much more. Just add 10 grams on the nose with the 850ma battery whichwas included in my arf and reduce aileron for the first flight. its amazing!!

Arrived undamaged just like all my other orders. Flying using that standard power system and servos with 3s 1000mah Turnigy nano-tech batts and Orange 6ch cased rx (also from Hobby King). Will fly at half throttle nicely and is quite fast flat out. 4min flights hovering mostly around 75 power and the batts came down at 3.7v per cell. CG in the manual is spot on, I had to remove some foam to get the batts to fit and get the CG right (batt is actually further forward that stock location). Only bad point is the servo wires could be longer for ease of connecting, I added extensions to the aileron and elevator servos as the barely reach to the back of the rx compartment.

What a terriffic plane!! With all the standard stuff, it performs very very well.In the persuit of more speed, does anyone out there know of a hot up pack that will make it quicker? I have blown up one fan unit , so more voltage probably is'nt the answer. What I need is a powerpack make-over. This plane has great potential.

Got the L-39 Albatross today. Indian Custom is SLOW!!! Took 2 months to clear my shipment. Slight damage to Cowl, Fuselage Tail & Left Aileron inspite of the heavy box. Repair should not be too tough. I shall put it all together today and test fly it tomorrow. Looking forward to the first flight tomorrow weather permitting (Indian Monsoon).
