An excellent parkflyer sized EDF foamie made from well moulded and crash resistant (EPO) foam. The L-39 EDF jet comes plug and fly ready right out of the box and will take you around 45 minutes to set up. Included is a 20A ESC and small yet powerful 50mm brushless ducted fan system, plus all servos are pre installed so all you only need to add is your own battery & receiver to complete this model.
It will increase thrust however this will also increase the current draw of the entire system. You will need a larger ESC and larger battery to supply the demands of the power system. That system will sound good too. Personally I use the 6 blade one and once balanced, it is quiet and quite efficient, gives my jet over 1:1 thrust to weight ratio.
Yes that will work with this jet. Any 3S or 4S battery in the 800~1500mah range would work. It just needs to fit the battery compartment (which yours does)
hello I bought this beautiful mini A39 but when I put the battery and my telecomande in connection with the aircraft wings react but the engine will not start but you hear a regular stroke ... if someone can help me thank you.
Pierre be sure to connect the wires from esc to the motor correctly and also connect correctly the esc in your Rx. I think (I AM NOT SURE so the responsibility of trying it is yours) the connection from esc to motor is yellow-yellow black-red red-black.....
Hi, I had the same problem and solved it with bying some paper hinges in my local hobby store. than I used my balsa cutter to one cut for every hinge in wing and aileron and fixed them in by using foarm glue. You will not see the damage and it works perfect. best reg. M.
Yes but make sure the motor is perfectly centred in the housing and the rotor is balanced. Do not rely on the factory doing this accurately enough! Do it yourself properly and the motor will be fine on 4S.
thanks. I have noticed that indeed the impeller is not properly balanced from factory. Also the ailerons went slightly bent on the servos arms location, as the main wing was packed upside up, and servo arms pressing upward.
Other motors/edfs that are semi-drop in install such as WEMO combo from donsrc**** will provide better use of that 4S. Honestly I would question the stock 20amp ESC handling the 4S, especially if its higher C rating. Don suggests a 40amp ESC if you plan to use his uber motor combos, plus he does dynamic balancing for those curious to beef up the L-39 with over 1:1 thrust for crazy fun.
Axl_74 why do you want too. They come pre programmed. But if you get a program card for that make and model of Esc you can program it. I hope this helps
I've put the plane together but when connecting the battery the motor (yes, it seems it comming from motor and not from ESC) plays a sound and then keeps beeping regulary in a short period, like pi pi pi pi pi.... If I disconnect the receiver the motor changes to pi .... pi .... pi ....
I Thing, you haven´t your throttle stick in lover position. You have throttle trim in middle. Trim throttle to lower position,or check reverse of throttle channel.
i believe that the plane must be balanced at thr servo cable line. put you finger there, one in each wing, and the tail must be fully horizontal, the wing stas at 3º*. but you must find the GC in the manual, or in a gravity center calculator.
The centre of gravity is about 4-5mm forward of the servo cable line at the wing root.
Centre of gravity can be easily achieved with a 4S 1000mah battery* the L-39 flies beautifully with this as long as the EDF rotor is balanced and mounted correctly.
Yes 4S is fine, as long as the ESC is mounted in the air-stream, the motor is centred accurately in the EDF housing and the rotor is balanced. You will need to check all these yourself and most likely make adjustments!
The CG is about 4mm in front of the servo wire hole in the middle of the wing.
"The CG is about 4mm in front of the servo wire hole in the middle of the wing"
You mean the "middle of the wing" is right exacly infront of the landing gear place?
Look at the 2nd photo, just above the 'T' in 'BREITLING' you will see the hole where the servos run into. About 4 to 5mm in front of this is where the CG should be located. This is where I fly it and is very close to where the manufacturer recommends.
The Jpower/Sky Angel/Venom L-39 has a wingspan of 550mm and Fuse length of 700mm and the Hobby King promotional video shows these dimensions on the box. The Specs listed by Hobby King show otherwise. Can an owner of this model confirm the 550 and 700mm measurements?
2 cell will not send enough power to fly this airplane.
I am using a 1000mAh 3S.
If you would like to use a 850mAh, but 3S, i think there is no problem.
Don't forget to add a few grams into the nose, to setup the correct CG.
Good luck!
I think you could even use up to a 1300mah 3S battery because the model will take weight in the nose. You should get some nice 5 minute flights like this.
The ESC has no connector.
I am using a Turnigy nano-tech 1000mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pac. This battery comes with a XT60 connector like many others in HK.
Don't forget to buy some male XT60 connectors available here - www.link
You can try with this (I think it is nice combination): (Turnigy 2610 EDF Outrunner 5000kv) www.link Ducted Fan Unit 6Blade 1.97inch 50mm) www.link not forget to balance the edf before use. I use the same setup in my L-39 and fly great.
It really doesn't need a fan that big. I have a 50mm Himax fan with 4100kv motor in it on 4s and it is a rocket! I got 8 mins flight time yesterday just putting around with some full throttle blast.
this is a wonderful plane and should not not give you any trouble.you should just know how to fly and it will give you happy hours.

I buyed in europe an identical one. It flies very good and the price is much more. Just add 10 grams on the nose with the 850ma battery whichwas included in my arf and reduce aileron for the first flight. its amazing!!

Arrived undamaged just like all my other orders. Flying using that standard power system and servos with 3s 1000mah Turnigy nano-tech batts and Orange 6ch cased rx (also from Hobby King). Will fly at half throttle nicely and is quite fast flat out. 4min flights hovering mostly around 75 power and the batts came down at 3.7v per cell. CG in the manual is spot on, I had to remove some foam to get the batts to fit and get the CG right (batt is actually further forward that stock location). Only bad point is the servo wires could be longer for ease of connecting, I added extensions to the aileron and elevator servos as the barely reach to the back of the rx compartment.
Muito bem construido, acabamento muito bom, leve e bunito! O voo bem estavel e rapido!
Bel legal!

What a terriffic plane!! With all the standard stuff, it performs very very well.In the persuit of more speed, does anyone out there know of a hot up pack that will make it quicker? I have blown up one fan unit , so more voltage probably is'nt the answer. What I need is a powerpack make-over. This plane has great potential.

Got the L-39 Albatross today. Indian Custom is SLOW!!! Took 2 months to clear my shipment.
Slight damage to Cowl, Fuselage Tail & Left Aileron inspite of the heavy box. Repair should not be too tough. I shall put it all together today and test fly it tomorrow.
Looking forward to the first flight tomorrow weather permitting (Indian Monsoon).
