Hi, Has anyone had trouble getting the three pins on the wing into the holes? Is there a fix around this problem?
 1stAidan 111 points
Yup. Mine was terribly misaligned. I replaced the female side with hobby grade plywood which I had drilled to fit. You could probably make the existing pieces fit, but I doubt it would be secure.

This in my opinion would make a GREAT TRAINNER PLANE from all the videos, I've not got to fly yet, but I'd give 10 STARs. Anyone thinking of getting one PLEASE WATCH THE VIDIOS 1ts, a lot of info. in them to help w/missing inf. on instr.. HAVE FUN FLYING NEXT ON MY LIST FOR ME TO GET FOR MY GRANDBABYS. H.K. GEAT TRAINNER

How long is the wing spand and body in feet?
 1stAidan 111 points
38 inch wingspan, 30 inch fuselage.

I received my Decathlon today and measured the stock prop. It is just under 7.25" (184mm) diameter and has somewhere between a 4" (100mm) and 5" (125mm) pitch. It is definately not an 8x6 propeller. I haven't flown it yet but I will fly the stock prop first (7.25x4.5) and then move to a 9x5.
 1stAidan 111 points
The stock prop performs well enough, just don't bother with the nose cone. There is no way to stop it from vibrating.
 David 6 points
My nose cone was squashed in shipment and has yet to relax, so it won't even press on to the prop nut. Thanks for the heads up though.

When do you expect to have this plane in stock at the US warehouse?
 mgriggster 1 points
Looks like they just recieved 19 of them on 2-26-13 in the U.S. warehouse. I just ordered one as they have great reviews. I am putting a Guardian 2D/3D stabilizer on mine when i get it. It will be a great add on that is perfect for this plane. You can buy the stabilizer through Hobby King but only available at the international store. Have fun!

I enjoy flying this little plane almost as much as my 50inch Decathlon. Though it does attract trees...
 scott 8 points
I just yesterday recieved the 1800mm. scratch/dent decatlon. 100% in love again the quality and fit is off the hook. Hearing you guy with this small on sounds like i need this one to fly. Thanks for making this my next purchase

am looking for a slow flyer thati can show off with every so often is this what i need ,mainly a slow flyer?i no it arobatic enough
 nossbc 7 points
its a pretty good flyer...they are slow and very predictable...just when using ruther you have to apply lil elevator(very normal with all decathlons)
for what it is its fairly aerobatic and predictble
i will suggest it
 MayhemNKMC 153 points
I let my buddy fly mine over the weekend and he loved it. Throttles back and glides really well, but when you get on the throttle it moves pretty well. Its light weight and has a small motor. It is really quite aerobatic when you want it to be and docile when you don't!

Help, my motor is cogging now, could it be the ESC? or the motor should I replace both
 Kellyann 16228 points
hbc865 so do you have a spare motor you can try??? If the rest of you RC gear is working and only the motor it COGGING the if shoud be your motor. I hope this helps
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 hbc865 5 points
your right KELLANN,it was the motor, ESC was is okay, now I wonder what motor to use now
 Michael 6 points
The main cause I have found is cold solder joints / or bad connections * the bullet connections between the motor and ESC.

I use Turnigy nano-tech 1300mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack, part number N1300.3S.25. It fits perfectly.

I Just received this plane for Christmas and am having trouble getting the motor to arm does any one have any tips or recommendations for replacement parts.
 MikeSell 1 points
Mine won't arm either. would anyone that got their ESC to function please record the process in a video or explain it to us.
 Bruce 4 points
Don't know what radio you're using, but if you have throttle trim, lower it all the way to zero. You may also have a "throttle cut" programmed
David  5 points - 6/22/2011

does anyone know the best type of floats for this plane? Thanks
 Hansc 373 points
I would go for some 0.15 size floats. 0.25 at max but you might need some more power then.
 1stAidan 111 points
Fuselage legnth x .80 = float legnth.

Also, if the plane can't take off from grass at 3/4 or less throttle (mine can't) upgrade to larger motor.
Ek-trician  308 points - 5/2/2011

Is it EPO foam?
 chebert 34 points
Yes and a very tought plane, but everything else on it is ****.

Where do I buy parts for this?
 Lectric_high 144 points
art-tech.cn slash english slash ArticleShow.asp?ArticleID=158
 chebert 34 points
You don't, all you can really do is purchase another one for parts.
prancer  10 points - 12/6/2010

What kind of foam is this bird made of? Being that it is a trainer it should be epp or epo. Hopefully it is. Thanks for any info.

Hi Jason. Im interested to buy a HK Decatlon complete, ready to fly included TX/RX plus batery LIPO and all necessary to fly. Could you please give me your sugestion and cote all necessary items ?

Regards
Fernando Pawlack
 Justin 1 points
I believe they have a RTF version or you can but the parts separately. You can get a radio for around $35.00, battery for $12.00, etc.
chargh  5 points - 10/22/2010

Do you have replacement parts?
 Jackster 8 points
As far s I can tell - NO replacement parts....
Therefore accident = buy a whole new airplane.....
seatbelt123  5 points - 10/17/2010

Where can I get a replacement wing? Or is there a kit with out all of the other parts (servos, motor, etc).
 Jackster 8 points
Evidently - NO replacement parts are available. Therefore if you crash it - buy a new airplane...
jt_gadget  5 points - 10/14/2010

what is the CG for the decathlon?
 volto 40 points
1/4 to 1/3 of the wing chord from the LE

Will Canadian customers also be buying from the U.S. Warehouse?
 Justin 1 points
You can order from any warehouse as long as all items in the order come from the same one. Most likely you would order from the USA locations.
 DareCDN 11 points
But keep in mind the US warehouse has less items in stock to sell. I have found the shipping cost to be similar, it's just quicker to order from the US, but less items available.
Michael  12 points - 9/27/2010

How long before LiPos are here? Would be nice to buy batts again without waiting for them to go thru Singapore, Switzerland and Zanzibar...
 H-KING_SCOTT 5161 points
I think the container has arrived.
killioughtta  426 points - 9/27/2010

I hope the shipping tables for US are right by Wednesday :)
 H-KING_SCOTT 5161 points
They are, add the item to your cart and try checking out.
 killioughtta 426 points
Woohoo! $15 to ship to Florida? Awesome! Way to keep it competitive. If you stock a lot of planes I see the US warehouse getting A LOT of orders! Where else could you get this plane Plug-n-Fly for $95 total?!
sid3ways  157 points - 9/27/2010

Yey, the first USA item to pop up. I can't wait to see what we can get. Has it also been disclosed as to where in the USA the warehouse is?
 aranel 32 points
I think west coast somewhere. Thats all I could get out of the forums.

 H-KING_SCOTT 5161 points
You're right bth9318.
Basics are on their way.

I ordered mine 7 days ago, paid for and all. It's still processing, seems there are a few bugs to work out on the shipping thing. First time in two years HobbyKing has let me down.
 H-KING_SCOTT 5161 points
Bullet, some customers are not putting their state code in the address and USPS doesnt like it.
Please check your address if you are having delays.
 Foam builder 29 points
Took 3 days just to process my order, and that was disappointing, but it is finally on it's way. Up to USPS now hehehe. Waiting for Rhino batteriew to be in stock here now. You gotta luv them Rhino's.

Nice plane, very well pakaged. Only problem vertical stab had bottom piece crushed. Looked like it was done while being packed at the factory. Wish HC offered replacement parts. Other than this minor issue, very satisfied. Thanks HC for the USA warehouse!

This plane flys very nice with the stock equiptment. I've used a 1300ma battery and even a 2200ma battery with great results. I cut a hole just in front of the landing gear for the battery to slide in lengthwise and used velcro to secure it in. The plane balances great and has plenty of power. I can take off and land from my driveway which is about 60 ft long. lots of fun with this plane!

Recieved the plane quick as it came from the US warehouse. Not to shabby for $75. Pros- Simply construction, flies well after it's setup. Will do basic aero, loops, rolls, spins well. Cons - Make sure to check CG. Mine needed a bunch of nose weight. Battery compartment is a bit TIGHT (alot actually). Due to the way the plane is designed, removing the wings regularly will become a problem as the self tapping screws for the wing struts will wear out. Overall - Was nice while it lasted. I got about 6 flights out of it before it started rolling on it's own and went it. The aileron was damaged/pulled out of the wing on impact....I could not determine the reason for the crash. The aileron servo was frozen up as well...unsure if this was because of impact or what caused the crash. Buy another one? Ehhh...hard to say at this time. Just lost it 5 mins ago. I've been flying the flat foamy profile 3D planes for awhile, and having a ball with something like that. Sucks to loose a model (so quickly too!).

Good flier, good value for the money. Looks great and scale in the air. Nice ground handling manners. No suprises, or bad flying manners. Recommend for intermediate fliers - definately not for beginners. Would be good as a first aileron plane. No instruction included and needs some modifications - battery compartment and wing mount - as a result - the 4 stars. See my build summary at www.link

Purchased from HK USA warehouse. Fast shipping. I like the foam seems to be very strong compared to my HZ Supercub. Assembly took longer because of lack of instructions and me being a newbie. The plane assembled well. All parts were well packed and undamaged. COG required additional weight up front. 1300mah battery does not fit in the battery box, ended up cutting out foam so that the battery stand up right. (not that great of a solution, would not do that again, but would buy a smaller battery. This is a fast flying plane and I only had one flight with it so far. Not the planes fault but my skills need to improve. I would purchase this plane again. Four stars because of the battery compartment issue.
