Just one quick glance at this superbly crafted Extra 260 is all it takes to be impressed by it's quality, look harder and you will see that this model is a serious performer.
The Balsa/ply construction is of the best quality and weight saving without compromising strength has been achieved as a result. More clues as to the quality of this model are given away by the carbon fibre under-carriage and wing tube. The covering is excellent quality with a sharply contrasting colour scheme that is ideal for orientation.
Built with 3D in mind, the hardware is heavy duty, servo horn extensions are provided, rudder is pull/pull, ball links are used throughout on all control surfaces and so on. This Extra 260 would be just as happy sport flying, so you don't need to be a hard-core 3D pilot to appreciate and enjoy this truly superb aerobatic model. For 3D flying a 30cc Gas engine, or equivalent electric power train would be best, for sport flying a 26cc Gas engine or Electric equivalent offers plenty of performance for classic aerobatic maneouvers.
Im thinking about getting one of theese and have a few questions* what is the best engine size to use with this plane to be able to hover and pull out of a hover? would a 26cc engine be big enough to hover? thanks in advance to whoever can help me on this.
sure you could but HK sells cheaper motors than E flite. I have a G60 with a 5000ma in a UCANDO by Great Planes. I get 13-14 minutes of air time if I watch myself on the power. The G110 or other type would work on this plane no problem.
i can see there is good support easy found when i looked ,, and downloaded the files it was just as all id expect ,in a little help with some part placements , but now completed My Extra 260 3d sits waiting near ready with only testing and final adjustments of ailerons .and motor tests are now at present point of completed Job ,,ready to soon fly ,and will it Be good ,,!!!!! i hope to find no fault in my completed build ,and did any 1 else want to tell me How they find the flight of this plane compared to any in General... but soon i will tell you all about it im sure ,soon first flight ,in next few days ,id say..

its arrived Yes ,,Missing Push rods ,and any type instructions ,,only a small disk not readable to any OS system i have ,,but i should not need them much. With any luch i use Best Hinges to fitt this and not supplyed bits of plastic . with no instruction and way is fully Made ,im Happy still,but Glad i stock many parts needed ,like hinges to Decent push rods and Joiners ,and all parts ,, this is not a Beginers Plane sure Glad i can fly this Year with out crash as i know this 1 will be fun ,and good Prior Knowledge of plane builds will lead me home ..tonight's Build will be Long and tiresome and well made Plane Like this Ive waited long, Yes glad in all Happy with so far ,and Love a little Advice with this fellas Please .
i find No Support file so we are to look on the Network and find some possible instructional manual . but after laying out all parts ,moat Have only 1 possible place . ,,! but any gravity point and do we find it yourself type syndrome.. I pity any who expects any instructions,and i dont want to sound smart ,but do we need instructions ,, what did i pay for ,,was it just a mistake or what ,, why is it i never get instructions with things that deserve it .. like this ,, And i can see No Great Quality ,after already needing to drill the wholes Larger to fit the carbon landing frame. And that,s only a start ,so Many Many Hours will take to build ,,what a joke . with out support ,ask the teem support ,and see for your self ,,nothing ..but yet they take our Money , support I think Not,.And I wont Be Thanking the King for this 1 .
CG is at 133mm from wing leading edge.
Rudder is pull/pull, so you should have 2 sets of wires for it instead of push rod. In fact, my set came with an additional push rod if I choose not to use the pull/pull setup.
Stock hinges works well if you use good and sufficient CA.

I will install my rudder servo directly in the tail (no push-pull). I really don't know how customer think this is a beginer model... If ACROBAT,3D is included in the description and NOT mention beginer.

Nope, no space inside for a canister. This plane is small for a 30cc, none of my friends believe it is a 30cc went they saw mine. Perhaps the only space to fit a canister is outside the fuse. There is not sufficient space beneath the fuel tank, unless the tank is shifted up. Even so, the main landing gear mit be blocking it.
I'm installing a MDL-35, I now that is over power, but I have them "sleeping" in my desk. The MDL is just few onz more than DLE30 and really more powerfull and fit perfectly in this frame. Only cons is the prop (19x8) gap to the ground - only 1.25" (I'm planning to install tall landing gear). No cannister needed- lot of power with the MDL35.
It is exactly the same wooden construction as my Peakmodel Extra 260. This one has carbon landinggear though!! It was a delight to fly and was VERY stable in knife-edges. I used a Moki G180 (gas) with a Krumsheid "banana" muffler and i ended up close to 6kg. Still good flying qualities, but i would use a as light as posible set up now. The area where the landinggear attaches is weak (as usual). If this one gets to the Euro warehouse, i will have a hard time to resist it!! Highly recommended!!

This ARF kit is poorly constructed. Alot of the covering peels before or during 1st flight. Some plywood used was too soft, they can be easily bent and broken easily. The lamination of the ply splits too. A few places were not properly glued (e.g. magnets). The pre-cut slot of the wheel pant does not fit, a new hole new to be re-cut.
The pushrods where tap with single direction threads, this cause some confusion for anyone who are used to heli pushrods. To get the crevices attached, the crevice at 1 side need to be rotated clockwise to get in, while the other side needs to be rotated anti-clockwise to tighten.
Although the plane is design for a DLE30 (or MLD26) mounted inverted, the precut hole for throttle is on the wrong side, and too low. So, we will need to DIY a servo mount.
A DLE30 is overkill for this. 18x8 prop has very little ground clearance. But it has ample power to pull the plane. The plane takes off at half-throttle, using a new DLE30 that has not been broken in (only seen 1 tank of fuel on the ground.) Does slow loops at half throttle. Lands very gentle, slow and easy.
It flies very well, as if there is a gyro in it. I didn't need to give it much corrections during simple loops and rolls to maintain direction and altitude.
Overall, I am happy with the purchase, given then the price is not too steep. I guess, if I want better quality, I will need to look

Can Any 1 give Me a Manual or type instruction , this Is not a good start ,For My first Big 26cc Plane ,.Possible Help files not exist ,,Many faults i found ,,from Bolts not fitting or lined up with whole ,,needing re drilling and flap Hinges need to replace with decent hinges before anything And price Is not seen in Quality ,Yet i only Just started , Give me another day to assemble properly and i let you Know fully the time taken to Finnish this Extra 260 Plane apparently fast to assemble ,,Garbage .. Many seamed Better Tho .not with Carbon Parts such as this .so in the end I better be Happy .as i was to get it ,,not to discover the faults , just fix and Be happy type thing ,,As your got No choice after receiving .,,it Cost Me $292.00 ..shaking my head still. but its what i wanted..just not the unseen facts .

I bought the scratch n dent version of this, The quality is fantastic and all the parts were included, some of the covering will need ironed but that is to be expected, Seriously its not hard to figure out how to put this together! Good work HK if I could give it 10 stars I would.

the Front Motor Mount area ,,is Very out of shape ,, Very Warped Ply wood ,out of shape ,,need to rebuild whole fount to remount properly the Motor fire wall ,,all out of practical shape in wrong slant angle oposit to rotational of set ,,,all needs revamping changes to angle ,,motor twisted wrong way ,,should do circles with out turning anythng ,,no flap to turn with this motor pointing to the left very Bad ,,out of prospective need make new Firewall ,to mount motor ,,,
