The most exciting things can be the most challenging! At least that seems the case with this plane! Firstly I love the Fokker DR1 Triplane, but after buying this model I never realized what a challenge it would be to fly and handle in the air! After maiden it simply turned on me and crashed even on trim's all level, good weather and full power take off? It chipped the wing tips and made the appearance look used and distressed Yuk! When building you must have a hobby knife and take the paint off the joints foam glue does not like gluing to foam or plastic over loose paint! That said the paint job is very good but sadly it flakes away easily! On my second maiden attempt it got up there (this time a hand lauch) but it was almost impossible to steer! I gave rudder and aileron on turns but she still did not seem to want to turn smoothly at command! In the end after a bit of Red Barron excitement down she came and this time quite a bit of damage! Sadly I'd not recommend this Plane as I love it so much (the real Fokker DR1 thing I mean) It is also very heavy especially the rubber wheels feel like leads in them! The nose feels haevy with battery in but you still need nose weight! This is a very challening Plane to master! I'd say not even intermediate but definately for advanced level pilots. Again to conclude the most exciting things can be the most challenging!
This plane has become a labor of love to get it to fly well. After 5 extreme crashes, I finally found the right combination of tweeks to make it fly well. I only fly with a 1300ma 3 cell to get maximum flight time. I adjusted the rudder and the ailerons to their max settings. Believe me you will need it when things go squirrelly. The elevator should be set to a normal setting with not very much movement to prevent things from getting too crazy. I also packed the engine cowl with a lot of modelers clay to make it slightly nose heavy. Take off with full up elevator and slow down as much as possible on landings. I got mine today!! Seems very nice, does it need to glue many parts? First time i was worried about the motor, because it seems to be deflected right side, but i read here that it is normal.
Best and slowest is 30 minute epoxy. Clean paint from glue area. Have biwing Fokker with same style wings, used foam safe CA, first flight 11 glue joints in wings let go. Take the time and spend your time flying, not repairing.

Yes,it is 4ch,with a 1300 size battery with mixed flying you will get between 12-15mins.Batteries with the dimensions that will fit www.link may be some others as weel. Sorry,cannot help with the manual but it is very simple to build. C of G will be from 34mm to 45mm from leading edge,would recommend nearer the 34mm point for first flights.
I have it at a quarter inch from the middle wing leading edge, some suggest that the ideal C.G is in the middle wing L.E but I found it better a little aft with the forward CG being just behind the L.E.
I have several questions: 1.- The kits has two tubes of glue, are both the same or it is a two components glue? 2.- Must be the rear plane be s****ed in its botton surface before gluing it to the fuse?, because I have seen that the cover panit of the fuse jumps easilly and this plane may be flying by itself easilly. 3.- This model is supposed to be mounted with no possibilities of further adjutstements, bacause wing ora glued of one with the other, and can not be disassembled, even the rear servos cannot be modified after installing the guns, so if it do not flyes o´*k the first time sorry. 4.- the motors has almost 4º* right and 4º* down incidences, is this not too much? if you need to moddifie this incedences you can not do it after gluing the cowl and the motor simulator. Has somebody any solution for this problems?

4. It has a large prop for it's size, so its normal to have a 4º of right side inclination. The 4º down is more for take the aircraft off and landing.
2.-You thikn it is good idea to glow teh estabilicer directly to the fuse with no s****ing the paint? and what about the middle wing with also its lowre surface all painted. Any way I am doing some variations on my model just to be possible dissable it. 4.- I have the pitts special 4 ailerons version it come with a bigger prop. 10x4.7 and no so much incidences, and flies ok. Rcflyyer1, i receved this plane this weekend, i assemboled it and had no instructions, so i did not know where the CG should be, i centered it it the upper wing, since it was close to it anyway, i tried to fly it with a 800 mah 3cell battert had a great take off thought all was good but seemed a bit un stable in the turns, tried to get it back and stalled about 5 feet off the ground while trying to level it out, the plans seemes a bit heavy in the front but flys tail heavy. from comments above sounds like i should move the CG forward this should fix it, just asking you where you set yours since you have has a flight with a 500 mah battery, my plane did not sustain much dammage so i would like to fix the issue prior to flying again, thanks

Sorry but I don´*t think so, all wings are supposed to be glued to the next by is extreme suports, middle wing to the upper and to the lower, the middle wing is supposed to be glued to the fuse and the upper wing has two central supports glued to this wing, to the fuse and to the middle wing. I have also this problem, and it is not easy of solve. Even the lower wing that is not glued to the fuse, it is just screwed, can not bo removed because it is glued to the middle wing by its lateral supports.
Any ideas of what replacement motor to go with that is ALOT more smoother and reliable than the stock Turnigy 2410-890Kv? Mine is soo stiff and binds when you to try to hand turn, and makes a squeeling sound when i connected the battery. I'm very unfamiliar with replacing motors and have no idea how to go about choosing a replacement motor. I just want to make sure the motor runs good before i go up my first time. I also have issues with the aileron servos not centering. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks!
sound like there is somethin wrong the motor. if you want go to brushless motors and click on to easy pick and it will give you a pick for glow size e motors they are turnigy but they are good motors and they match the glow by size i would go with the .25-.30 size this is about 2 lbs? so me i would go with a .25 for e power you can always power it down if you go larger, they also tell you what size airplane the motor is for,hope this helps you good luck
First you need a very short motor to fit between cowl and firewall. Look into the 300 series pancake motors, they have gobs of torque and made for slow fliers. I would get an 800-900kv. That should swing a 10x4-10x4.7 slow fly prop just right. Get the biggest motor you can fit- better motor weight than lead. Also extra power helpful when you need it.
it really dont look to hard if you want to use them i would just go with the bottom wing only with 2 servo's and if you want use puers on the outer ends of the ailoron tips to puss the other one, do this on each side.

Probably not the best trainer. There are some nice Foam Cessna and SuperCub kits available in the various warehouses that would be better starter planes. That Fokker would look very pretty, but might be a bit much for a beginner.
Its not the hardest plane to fly but it is tricky to land so if this is a first plane i recommend that you reconsider and go for something like the hobbyking Mini Brushless powered Cessna EPO R/C plane (ARF). It is realy easy to fly but has the power and the maneuverability to do must basic stunts.It is also very tough and easy to land.
No this is a scale type aircraft and very short up in all directions so is tricky to fly - the hobbyking corsair is alot easier but you really need some kind of trainer aircraft - alot of people tend to use EPO cessnas as they seem relatively stable and handle the abuse really well.
Hi, I wouldn't spontaneouasly recommend the Fokker Dr. I as a plane for a beginner. Although there is "a lot" of wing area, there is not that much stability. I am personally used most kind of planes, I crashed the Fokker and right now I am going to repair it. However, the Fokker is a very nice plane and I am sure I will succeed.

Despite the really high shipping price - which i reluctantly paid - it is well worthed. Looks very nice, is about the same size as the eflite triplane but i suspect it will take abuse a little better.
Clay is likely for adding noseweight if required. Make sure to fix it on well so vibration will not cause it to fall or shift. Tubes, maybe for control rod sheath?
Needs lots of lead (85 grams) in the nose to be "stable"! But it does fly well and it's very funny. Why do you guys from HK don't type some words to give throws, cg, etc ?

1 last question... How is the foam for this plane? Strong? thick? Durable? will it survive hard landings? I'm trying to decide between Fokker and the Alfa Albatros D.V
One of the lads at our club field has one of these. He "TRIED" flying it today ( an experienced pilot)it was very erratic in the air and became a lawn dart in about 30 seconds. Though I will agree that the foam is very tough. It only needs a bit of glue and time to repair. I was thinking about one but am quickly changing my mind after today's exhibition

I forget which is which but the one with the screw holes seems to go on first and then the other. This provides a smooth surface for the wheels to run against. If you do it the other way the wheels run on the screw heads :/ My gear were a little over twisted but were gently bent back to a more normal shape. I had to reglue the plywood reinforcement pieces in the gear wing as they were not firmly glued as well!

Got the box today. actually impressed with the level of packaging. No damage to any parts and overall it looks good. The hatch is definitely a problem child but an easy fix. Time will tell how well the motor/ESC will do but also looks like a pretty short assembly time. Work loads permitting should be able to have it together for next weekend and then pray for good weather of course. At this point definitely recommend it as a value purchase if you like WWI birds. May do some cosmetic paint work on it so it looks different than the All read.

Quite a good scale model,went together reasonably well,problems with distorted center section struts required some bending,otherwise O.k.On the negative side,it is a scale model of a type that was inherently unstable-while it is not impossible to fly,the all-up weight, particularly with the extremely heavy wheels supplied,makes it a bit of a dog if you try to fly it at anything less than full throttle-aileron reversal occurs as soon as you try to turn and the best way to land is to look for the long wavy stuff!To sum up-nice to look at,but not my favourite to fly!

Aircraft arrived in good condition. Some paint missing but not too worried. Motor spun wrong way. Got a friend to Re-solder the wires on the board instead of cutting the wires. Servo's seem a bit tinny. Haven't assembled yet. Not sure about best choice of glue: PVA, Gorilla or epoxy. Not much space for battery, ESC and RX but was aware of that prior to purchase. Looking forward to flying it but have to continue to cut my teeth on my Cessna and FMS sim.
Looks outstanding! - got it in a white unmarked box, without scratches.
But as earlier stated - you need to work on it before flying...
The big shame's the paint job - it flakes and chips when you touch it... that feels sooo cheap - looks beat up even before the first crash.
