I bought two of these hking gt-2 systems one works well but the other one is not working well at all.i have binded them by the manual.i checked the receiver and works with other transmitter.is the transmitter faulty.only used once.only one channel that works is the forward and brake..no steering. Is there something that needs to be done to fix the problem.
Hey Steven,
Have you checked that the servo is working correctly? If not the system may be faulty, give the hobbyking live support people a message and they should be able to work something out with you.
First time RC user Have the HKGT2R receiver but need to know where it gets its power from ?Also the ESC and Servo colour codeing as you can plug them in either way around and the manual doesnt give this info.
If anyone is having issues with this model. I orignally was having it jitter and play up, seemed like it was going out of rangeat anything more than about 15m. get a small allen key or similar and press the small button on the receive to enable the failsafe option. completely fixed up my radio is now perfect!!.. cheap as radio that feels better than most brand name RTR radios
Just received the GT2 in the mail.. put the rx in my pureten kyosho fazer ..tx and rx came pre-bound.
very easy to use and setup. tested range and got at least 500 meters line of sight down the road and still had good connection so far not one glitch or drop out.
when I power off the tx my nitro car applies the brake so I guess this is the failsafe feature - although when you leave the tx powered off for longer than 20 seconds it no longer holds the brake and the throttle on the car returns to the rest/idle postion.
still haven't really tested the failsafe yet out in the field so cant fully vouch for it.
thank you hobbyking for such a great, cheap product!!
I am recommending them to friends as an upgrade to their older style 27mhz setups.
SouthCoastRC I am happy to hear any good report and questions. This is the DISCUSSION section and that covers every thing. I do not see you great review under the review section. To set a review, you do it through My Account / Account settings & tools. Also to set to failsafe, turn the transmitter and receiver ON. Then set the transmitter to were you want it. I like a little left steer. While holding the transmitter there press the recessed button, on the receiver, with the peg on the BIND PLUG.
sorry i thought it was a 3 channel, in the product image it has a 3 ch receiver so i assumed it had 3 channels. so i would need to purchase this 3 channel receiver aswell? (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17433__H obby_King_GT_2_2_4Ghz_Receiver_3Ch_AUS_Warehouse_.ht ml?strSearch=3%20ch%20rec)
yeah the gt2 is 2 channel with a 3 channel reciever
the HK-300 3 Channel 2.4ghz FHSS Ground Radio
or HK-310 3 Channel 2.4ghz FHSS Ground Radio
or any of the Turnigy transmitters are 3 channel
hey, im wondering whether i could use 2 of these electric retracts (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewite m.asp?idproduct=17538) with this system?
Hi there, guys,
do any of you know if this tx & rx is running on FHSS, DSM, DSM2, FAAST, etc?
I think the HK-GT2 reciever included is FHSS meaning the transmitter would also be running FHSS, but would like to confirm this first.
Also do any of you know what kind of range you guys are getting when running an electric buggy with this setup, my current transmitter is the same design but with a short stubby antenna getting me about nearly 100m. Would love to get more range then that!
Nath, only compatible with their own protocol .Will work with variants * HSP,Flysky ,Eugle.
My range is about 300m at least. All 2.4ghz system only require the stubby antenna as compare to the old FM 30cm antenna.
ok thanks guys,
Although I thought it was FHSS as "sharkey9" (another big member) on the page for the Turnigy GTX3 Transmitter said that the Gt2 rx receiver (pictured above) was running with the FHSS protocol and recommended this receiver numerous times as a replacement/alternative for its included receiver, which now confuses me. I currently have a hsp tx and need a new rx, i'm think of getting just this rx if its compatible, or buying the above deal with both the tx & rx. although it could also be my tx/rx setup thats only getting me about 100m, this rx or both tx & rx hopefully will fix that problem
Might be a safer bet to get the combo,if its your tx,then you have a spare rx. Definitely works with HSP. Always google and double check the info given on this forum, some pro-contributors are knowledgeable while some others are just pro-con,they're just after the measly reward credit.
Rex,you've been misinformed ,dsm are spectrum . Read the specs where it says protocol.
Fair enough ive read Sharkey9`s comments and it seems this is FHSS , you would think if this was the case there would be some info saying so, sorry for the miss information
FHSS is just describing the type of protocol, Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum. FHSS is not a brand name and can describe multiple protocols like how 2.4GHz can describe rc stuff, wifi, game controllers and bluetooth.
Hi Christopher, this will work great with your hbx rocket pro, as it would be a great upgrade. You will have to programe your esc to the radio gear, easy to do tho, thanks Steve.
It does not have a memory for extra models
you just get another receiver for each model and bind them to the transmitter
or at this price just get one for each model :)
they (the manufacture) make them like that so you can only buy their produce as i have this TX an have tried binding to Orange an $pektrum RX with no success ,cheers
using one of these for my centurion catamaran, pretty happy with it. Can anyone tell me if this has a fail-safe option as when it looses signal at full throttle it just keeps going, has caused some issues!
Cheers Gary, I look forward to your answer. have torn rudder out of back of boat cause it launched out of the lake at full speed and also boat flipped and nose dived, stuck at full throttle the prop caught a bite of the water and the boat drove to the bottom of the lake and stayed there till the ESC burnt out. Fail safe would be nice.... :)
Hello Tristan. Yes,apparently this radio is fitted with a fail safe.Usually to set the fail safe you have to set the controls to their fail safe positions,ie,closed throttle and perhaps a bit of rudder and then you rebind the system with controls held in this positon and that should be it.To test switch on the Tx and Rx,when radio is working switch of the Tx and the servo's should move to their fail safe positions,or in the case of an ESC the motor should stop. Hope this helps.
Thank-you for your help! I will set this up today, there is no mention what so ever in the instructions about this, maybe something hobbyking could look into as these seem to be popular.....
Thanks again.
I`ve just installed this system in my 1/18 stadium truck and it works great going forward, when I want to go backwards I have to hit the reverse a few time before it will work.
Is this normal?
Having a lot of trouble with this Tx. When we first got it, we had a range of about 50-80m before loosing reception. Now it is down to 5m!!!
Not happy about that. Any one else having the same problem?
We are using it in 1/16 Brushless 4WD Racing Buggy w/25A System, and using the same 2 cell battery for power - which all should be fine to operate them. The LED's on the TX show green for good power.
I wonder if this is the reason why there is a delay supplying these to you guys. Could be a quality control issue.
Would appreciate any advice why this is happeneing.
I found the one I had bought initially had a bad RX, but with replacement ones it is fine.. But try opening the case and checking antenna wire (remove batteries first).
If possible try to re-bind the tx to the rx and see if that helps otherwise try to shield the receiver wires to see if its just interference also check if you have wireless phones on 2.4ghz its unlikely to be the issue but the real world is bleak.
Hi, what battery could be used to power the rx.
I'm told it needs 4.5-6volts but i can't find any batteries with that lower voltage.
Any help would be great thanks
I just use normal duracell dry cells , we have two one for each of my boys and they got them for last xmas and use them at least once a week for at least the duration of one battery pack. Have not had to change the duracells yet.
What a joke! Been ip and down at them about it, keep getting back orders take 30-45 days to clear... Cool so it's been more than 60, u can't tell me when they're planned to arrive? Nope seems they don't track their goods... They should have offered a solution. Send them from the intl warehouse at your expense hobby king, this is a joke!
I've heard they have had some problems delivering to Australia , the best thing would be keep houndingthem or maybe go for a refund and buy from Aussie store if possible
wolly 77b yes you can have as may receiver bound to that at one time as you like. It bind is saved in the receiver not the TX. One bound it stays bound. So just buy extra receivers. PRODUCT ID: HK-GT2_RX Hobby King GT-2 2.4Ghz Receiver 3Ch.($5.70) I hope this helps
Just trim The Throttle and make it lower! but if you set it low either way when the trigger is pulled and you reach the Set Throttle your car will still take off! ive leaned to work with the throttle being really sensitive! Im sure you can too :D
No the problem is it has to be used by my 8 year old son lowering the trim only sends it into reverse almost and its still too sensitive for him. Looks like I will have to bin this controller, and get the Hobby king one with the programable throttle curve. The only other thing is to replace the pot with a les sensitive one .
Although there is no sensitive adjustment you could possibly jam say some fuel line(or what ever you choose) between the trigger and the remote housing. this would in turn make him unable to grab full throttle.
Turn both units off, set rootlet trim to zero. ensure you have channel 1 as steering and 2 for drive-train (1 to turn 2 to burn) then connect power to both (TX FIRST!) if this doesn't work message back
There is a postage table at the top of the page, if you pull down the menu and choose your country, weight, and transport etc it will tell you. If you live in Aus. It is $8.99. Regards.

I have bought this transmitter and I would recommend it as it is cheap, very easy to
Bind as I took me three seconds only and the best thing it is a 2.4Ghz so there
is no connection interruptions while riding you Rc Model. Very quick respond
recommended.
-Used on A Tamiya TT01, with a HOBBY KING brushless ESC 60amp, 4S 14.8v 3000MAH Turnigy LIPO pack with a Hobbyking burshless 9 Turn motor, Huge speeds

Excellent equipment. Converted my 'truggy' off roader to 2.4Ghz with this Tx & Rx, so now can be used anywhere without having to worry about frequency clashes or drop outs.
Brilliantly simple. only hitch is a slightly sensitive battery compartment. open and close a couple times and power will flow through. I managed to wear out the spur gear on the 1/16 Brushless 4WD Monster Beatle w/ 25Amp System without a single glitch from this. Quality manufacture and ease of use followed by cheap to buy.
