Looking like it's doing 100mph standing still, the Racer Cat is an all things to all pilots model that will give hours of fun. The Racer Cat is a nice size and the attractive colour scheme is great for orientation. The more you look at this ARF, the more the quality impresses, superbly applied Oracover covering, the hardware is top notch, the cowl and spats have a deep laquered finish and the airframe is amazingly well built, strong yet light.
Designed for either a 0.60 two stroke or 0.90 four stroke engine, the model only requires fairly basic standard servo's and so offers a cheap, quick build. The wing is removable 1pc set up so the Racer Cat is easy to transport and the wing design is impressive, thin section with a light wing loading, the tailpane is also profile not flat sheet.
This model offers the RC pilot so much, capable of speed or gentle slow flying, impeccable manners yet fully aerobatic, good looking but durable, the Racer Cat 60 will make you smile and smile for years to come!
Includes: Fuel Tank & Fittings Engine Mount Instructions Hardware Decals
Requires: Your Own 4 Channel TX/RX 0.60 two stroke or 0.90 four stroke Glow Engine 5 x Standard Servo Reciever Battery (+ UBEC for 2s LipolyRX Battery) 50mm~55mm Spinner
Good news! I found the instructions that came with the kit. CG 119 mm from leading edge where the wing meets the fuselage. Control throws are 20 mm up/down on ailerons, 25 for elevator and 47 for rudder. Off to break in the engine...
Thinking about setting up Hobby cat racer as an electric asp 75 with pitts muffler looks like a tight fit in the cowl but I can make it work,,,Anyone set this plane up as electric please post the specs...thanks...Greg
No, the cowl is not precut. You are "good to go". As an added bonus, there are 2 extra clear plastic cowl halves that can be used to make any cutouts necessary to fit the engine.
I'm thinking about doing one of these as an electric. I have only played with small electrics to this point, been flying 60 sized glow pattern ships for years. Trying to figure out a good setup that will make this thing really go. Any suggestions ?
can i fit this plane to my webra 55gt with tune pipe? if anyone has experience pleas let see my webra engine video at youtube channel yusaimie- webra 55gt super air. ( i cannot imagine my engine can pull this body or not. Thanks
I'm in Brazil waiting to land my model, I was searching and saw that a 10x8 prop would give an optimal response speed for this model, the model has anyone have any tips for flying configuration linking or video to post? Hug.
cptn blinky are you talking about the piece that slots in up front off the wing or the slot it goes into. got about 8 flights on mine now and haven't noticed a wing mount problem yet. but I did scare myself today with a 13 x 6 prop on (to fast for me)
went back to 12 x 8 still www.link
Old Man, the 12x8 prop will rev faster and with 8 inch pitch will deliver faster flights than a slower reving less pitch prop like a 13x6. If you want more torque for vertical flight or sport flying try a 13x4 or 13x5 Regards, Nick.
[em_thumb]HK is there any chance they will make a low wing model of this plane. I realy like this one and it flys great but a low wing is what we need to keep us on our toes.
I will be useing a O.S. Helicoper enging SX 91 with rear pump on a mac.long quiet pipe. you know we want to get the most out of a 60 glow planes in Michigan cut and hack make it fit.
Prob will fit. The fire wall has captive nuts fitted so you will prob have to change that. The cowll will be a bit tight, the engine is 200 grams heavyer than the 61. But I also run 100g on the nose but also have a Tuned pipe running down the fuse, The recomended prop of 15' on the 15 may have so taxi problems, bigger wheels? I run a 10x9 so there is no problem with my 61.
I dont know if you will get the speed out of her with the 15cc, thats if you are chasing speed.
Hmmmz.... I'm more worried about the weight than the prop size as I could change the landing gears for clearance. I just bought this engine and is now on shipment so I wonder if this plane suits this engine... Sigh, I just don't like glow engines because of the hassle it creates - oily planes... Haha
Use the TP 990 metal gear servos (if your not to fussed about precision controls) as these servos are heavy and add weight behind the CofG. You could mount the igntion batteries as rearward as you can and mount the Ignition system as far as the HT lead will go.. Set the engine up then play with the CofG with the extra bits..The recomended CofG works well for me. Go a smaller diameter and increase the pitch on the prop to help with ground clearance. Bigger wheels will add more drag..I was going to leave the UC off as this was going to be a speed plane bot the Pipe will be torn off every landing.
Thanks for the input. What is the AUW for your cat? It seems like 3000g for this wingspan is gonna be tough as the stall speed reaches 35kmh. I don't think I can land at this speedmor higher.
can anyone tell me the distance between the back w/house and the front w/house. It must be big
JIT Picked in BackWarehouse *Jun 25 2011 9:09AM

mine arrived today 15 days after order to Aus.
The plane seems quite good, better than expected,
but the hardware kit is the normal you would expect from hobbyking. I intend to upgrade a few things
the fuel tank is only 248cc and with a 61 up front at full noise that will get me about 7 minites, i will use a bigger one there is plenty of room i tried a 300cc that was on my bench and still had more room length wise. i mounted a motor that was lying around(61 thunder tiger) on the supplied mount and it was a tight fit both on the mount and in the plane, no room left under the hood. i think a os55ax would be ideal for this plane. to fit a 90 4 stoke i think would be pushing you luck but you could make it fit.
The HXT 6.9kg / 39.2g / .16sec Twin bearing servos
i bought for it are a bit deep for the wing but i can space them up about 1/2mm. I will do a review
and star rating after it flys. Again the plane its self is better than expected.
hope to fly it today but the field is not open for another 2 hrs and the weather is not the best. light rain hope it clears. will post tonight if i fly.
Had a perfect flight!! Mongrel Video shut down.. She is a floater. Had 3 finals to slow her down for landing. Had to shut the engine down just before touch down as the ground efect takes over..The sound from the pipe was heaven again. The take off was a bit longer for some reason as I was using up the runway very quickly I had to pull up a fair bit to get her off. Once flying she is very predictable.
test flight completed and very happy.
needed hi rates elevetor as long take off on low rates. once trimmed out flew straight as a arrow and very direct i would love this in a low wing version.
I got one from Hong Kong and ordered extra stuff to make up the extra weight for that freight charge and it wasn't to bad, and it flys nice.
Buy one you won't regret it
thanks old man, I am sure I will get one soon, as I have an os55 which should be perfect, I was a bit surprised about your comment on how much runway is neede to take off, i would have thought with that size wing and weight it would take off easily and short
It might fly. but with a struggle and you would
need a long runway. Stick with what they recommend.
or slightly larger cc
I have seen a few tip stalls that destroy planes from to small a motor and not enough power.
Ive fitted a ASP61 with a MACs tuned pipe. The running gear came off My Acro Wot, This plane is lighter that the Acro.Maiden in the morning. I realy want to put a 91 2stroker But dont have a pipe for it...I like speed.
anyone seen that engine mount pattern.
Im guessing i will have to drill a 1 piece mount
instead of the 2 pieces i normally use.
Cant wait for it to arrive.
I just had to buy one
It is an exact copy of the great planes ELECTROSTREAK , look it up on your realflight simultor or on youtube you can see them fly. they seem to fly nicely
Yeah, she ugly, media always trying to convince us otherwise. I have been working on designing something very similar but for electric. a large-ish pylon-racer with undercarriage. This would be a nice shortcut, Not sure if 6s 5000mah would fit though.
If you take away the black canopy and the landing struts smooth and sand the tips of the rudder and the wings and the elevator it might look like one if you do it correctly.
I'm with you Adrian M. I have the Hobby Topgun Dago Red racing glider and except for minute differences in some trim colours it DOES look identical to the Hobby Lobby one and probably did come out of the same factory but this new Racer Cat looks nothing like them AT ALL! BTW, I actualy like the look and style of this thing : )
LOL Sawdust nice try but It DOES look similar if you just rip the covering and paint it dago red livery on it and do some major adjustment it may look something like the Dago red Pylon Racer from far. Nothing Is Impossible
It is an exact copy of the great planes ELECTROSTREAK. Argh NO it's not a copy, its way bigger at 1600mm wing span verse 1130mm, no rounded off fuse, different tail and rudder, and has landing gear.
RCFlyer, you're absolutely right! If you did just few tiny things like taking the wing off the top and putting it underneath and changing the design of the wing completely including curling up the ends, move the canopy back about a foot, make the fuse out of caron reinforced fibreglass instead of balsa, get rid of the landing gear, changed the colouring to match, changed the size to match then looked at them side by side from 500 metres away through severely scratched up glasses you might possibly think they looked similar. C'mon for christs sake! the only similarity is they bot have wings!
Boy oh Boy look who is talking now 'bot' wings? Improve yor vocabulary before talking to me. Scratched glasses? I think your brain is as dusty as your Nickname.
Oh no! I made a typo! bot instead of both, oh the shame :( That's a spelling mistake, nothing to do with vocabulary (not that my vocabulary or spelling are that good anyway). MrRCFlyer I kinda like you mainly for your enthusiasm and ambitition but you're going to have to learn to graceously admit when you're completely wrong instead of trying to divert attention away with that sort of carry on.
Thanks for the support but I really think that this cloney looked like the HobbyLobby Pylon Racer. Didn't you know everybody has their own personalities? Everyone has a different aspect of life and has a different ways of expressing themselves for what they think is right. Here is the important part...NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO CRITISISE OR JUDGE ANYONE'S EXPRESSIONS That we all got to learn.Lastly thanks Sawdust You have made my day by saying that.
Seriously Adrian I am thinking of getting one because I think it would make a good all rounder. It's a pretty slick sort of shape with no unnecesary lumps and ***ps like a useless bulging canopy for a pilot to see out of when there's no pilot in it anyway and I reckon it wouldn't be hard to make it a very fast model. I think you'd have your work cut out for you trying to make it faster than the dago red pylon racer if you were trying to keep to about the same costs but I'm pretty sure you could make one of these realy move with the right setup.
It looks good once its together. The long thin fuse and huge tail on it. I do like the false cowl you get before you destroy the painted one. Will have a vid of her after the maiden in the morning.
Wao this is a long thread! Coolness. I cant wait to purchase this cat! I have just bought the grasshopper cub EPO and now waiting for the packing. I could have bought this cat instead! Why didn't I spot her first? Fate!
I'm in Brazil waiting to land my model, I was searching and saw that a 10x8 prop would give an optimal response speed for this model, the model has anyone have any tips for flying configuration linking or video to post? Hug.
Paulo Check for Racer-Cat-60 on You tube. I have 2 vids of her one on board and the from my head.

after the long wait the package arrived in good order. upon inspection i was impressed straight away with the detail and all balsa construction. But fuel tank is to small for any 60 size 2 stroke i have ever had. tail wheel supplied i was also not impressed with. The carby push rod supplied was also to short for my motor choice unless i put another servo forward off the servo tray, i chose to just use a longer push rod i had lying around. The assembly i used is thunder tiger 61with 12 x 8 prop. 12 oz fuel tank.5 x hxt 6.9kg servos. sullvan medium size tail wheel. hobby king HD battery switch. and all the rest was supplied in the kit. apart from the shipping costs this is a great pain and flys very true and straight. No extra ballance weight was required and COG was spot on as per the intructions that i decided to look at when i finished the build. I can recommend this plane.

VERY impressed with the quality. The covering is excellent. Not one wrinkle out of the box. Appears built very well with sufficient glue visible at critical joints. All the hardware looks useable and of good quality. I have over 50 planes and this is better than most of whats available from H9 or GP. Very unique looking plane. I'm sure it will build quickly and easily. I plan on installing a Saito 91 four stroke. Will update on the building and flying ASAP. Good job HK. Price is great for what I received!
